William Robert McFarland

William Robert McFarland, age 77, was born on November 28, 1940 to the late William Thomas and Lucy Mae Davis McFarland in Harriman, TN. He passed away on May 13, 2018 in Knoxville, TN. He was a farmer that enjoyed his job, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on and playing music. He sang and played guitar, accordion and piano daily.

He is survived by his sisters- Mary McFarland and Anita Harris (Ronnie); nieces- Tiffany Banniza and Jennifer Rusk; 3 grand nieces and one grand nephew; and an ex-wife- Katherine McFarland. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-Glenn McFarland.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, May 18, 2018, in New Era Cemetery at 1:00.

George Paul Kerley

George Paul Kerley was born on December 29, 1917 to William and Arva Selby Kerley in Pikeville, TN. He passed away on May 8, 2018. Paul was a member of the Daysville Church of Christ. He loved working when he could, gardening, and farming.

He is survived by sons, Ronald Kerley and Dallas Kerley; and daughter Karen Reed. Paul is loved by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Arva Selby Kerley; wife, Mary Pauline Kerley; son, Donnie Kerley; grandsons, Steven Kerley and Brent Swallows; and siblings, Oscar Kerley, Carl Kerley, Theodore Kerley, Dora Wood, Lilly Davis, Malinda Brown, Pinah Tanner, and Ida Brown.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Paul will also be held following visitation with Dennis Lovell and Larry McDuffy officiating. He will be laid to rest in Big Lick Cemetery.

Michael “Mike” Smith

Michael Larry Smith, “Mike,” was born on April 27, 1945 to Charlie and Mauddean Medley Smith in Marietta, GA. He passed away on May 7, 2018. Mike was a Deacon of Isoline Baptist Church, and he was a noted humanitarian. He was also a collector of valuable junk and enjoyed tinkering on things. Mike loved to go fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle with John Letcher.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith of Crossville, TN; son, Michael L. Smith II (Brandy Smith) of Crossville, TN; daughter, Laura D. Smith (William Filer) of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughters, Chelsea Letcher (Jean Santiago) of St. Petersburg, FL, Emily Letcher (Richard Hopkins), of Seminole, FL, and Michaela Smith of Crossville, TN; and great grandson, Jaidyn Letcher of Seminole, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mauddean Medley Smith; brother- Richard Eugene Smith and Charles Wayne Smith.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 12 to 3 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Mike will also be held on Saturday following visitation with Frank Kirby officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rinnie Cemetery.

Opal Willene Jones

Opal Willene Jones was born on September 15, 1937 to General and Dora Kerley Wood. She passed away on May 4, 2018. Willene was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church at Big Lick. She worked at Crossville Medical Group for 23 years. She moved to Nashville and worked at the Renaissance Hotel for 27 years. She loved her jobs and coworkers. She loved to travel and dearly loved her family and spending time with them. Willene was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her son, Michael Jones; sisters, Loreda Davis of Crossville, TN and Carlene Bennudriti (John) of Hixson, TN; and five nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, General and Dora Kerley Wood; brother, Gerald Wood; and nephew, Keith Wood.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9th from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service for Willene will also be held on Wednesday at 2.

Eileen M. O’Barsky

Eileen M. O’Barsky, 90, was born on January 16, 1928 in Cleveland, OH to Walter and Emma Bartlett. She passed away on May 1, 2018.

She is survived by her son, Dan O’Barsky and wife Vicki of Michigan, daughter, Leslie Klein and husband John of Texas, son, Mike O’Barsky and wife Darcie of South Carolina, and daughter Val Morehouse and husband Jim of Pennsylvania, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. O’Barsky, grandson, T.J. Morehouse, and parents, Walter and Emma Bartlett.

A memorial service for Eileen will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church.

Harless Eugene Wood

Harless Eugene Wood, 83, was born on March 27, 1935 to the late Oliver Cleveland and Florence Mae Pollard Wood in Crossville, TN. He departed from this life on Monday, April 30, 2018. Harless loved listening to bluegrass music, playing his guitar and other musical instruments. He also enjoyed sitting under a shade tree telling stories and going to yard sales.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Roberta Simmons Wood; children, Kenneth Wood and wife, Valarie, Karen Cottrell and husband Lonnie, and daughter-in-law, Selena Wood; grandchildren: Kevin, Kristy, Adam, Kalon, and Kari; 6 great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, O.C. Wood of Crossville, Richard Wood of Crossville, May Bell Hill of Mount Juliet, and Ruby King of Crossville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Florence Wood; son, Billy Wood; brothers, Albert Wood, Estle Wood, and Hebron Wood; sisters, Addean Standefer and Mary Ellen Brewer; and other family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Harless will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 1 with Danny Wyatt officiating. He will be laid to rest in Akins Cemetery.

Richard Davis Graham

Richard Davis Graham, 78, of Crossville, TN, was born on April 22, 1940 to Wilbur and Edith Graham in Latrobe, PA. He passed away on April 29, 2018. Richard loved golfing and everything about it.

He is survived by his wife, Danette Graham; children, Paul, Stewurt, Mary Beth, and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Nathan and Alexander; and sister, Mary Virginia Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lillian Amanda Westerback Brooker

July 18, 1916 – April 30, 2018

Lillian Brooker, 101 years and 9 months old, of Crossville, passed away April 30, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Conner Lee Brooker. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., with Reverend Andrew Solomon officiating.

Lillian was born July 18, 1916, in Cloquet, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Jacob and Hilma Maki Westerback.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Brooker and Farrell Odom of Crossville; son, Lee Brooker of LIberty; grandchildren, Andy and Julie Bass of Knoxville; Jennifer Wheeler of Crossville; Johnny Bass of Crossville; and Allyson Odom Collinsworth of Nashville. Great-grandchildren include Savana Wheeler, Lily Wheeler, Nic Bass, Jake Bass, Zack Bass, and Ella Collinsworth.

Tina Renee Pyles

Tina Pyles, age 40, was born on January 20, 1978 in Crossville, TN to Sammy and Grace Matthews Pyles and passed away in Union City, TN on April 28, 2018. Growing up she was raised in the Baptist faith. She was Daddy’s Girl but loved to be with her mother, spending time with her family was what she treasured most. She enjoyed reading, consuming the books she could get her hands on. She wrote poetry and has had a poem published. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her father- Sammy Pyles (Linda); brothers- Steve Pyles (Cathy) and William Pyles; sister- Hannah Pyles; and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her mother- Grace Matthews Pyles.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 11:00 in Rinnie Cemetery. Wayne Matthews will officiate.

Dorothy Regina Louchart

February 6, 1937 – April 20, 2018

Dorothy, 81, of Saginaw, MI passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. She loved her dog, Tito and St. Alphonsus Church. She worked at CMC for 29 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Valerie Bogdan; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and husband, August Louchart, of 27 years.

She is survived by her only son, Benjamin Louchart; daughter-in-law, Tammy Louchart; sister, Angie Quick; and brother, Eddie Bogdan.
