Milo Maxwell (Max) Harcourt, II. June 15, 1943 – September 12, 2012
Max Harcourt, 69, of Fairfield Glade was born in Reno, Nevada to Milo Maxwell Harcourt and Margaret Catherine Damele Harcourt. He attended elementary school at 3 Bar Ranch near Eureka, Nevada, in a one-room schoolhouse with his brother, Steven, and The Cousins. Max attended the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) in Roswell, NM, graduating high school in 1960. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada Reno, and received a MBA at New Mexico Highlands University.
Max retired a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1992. His illustrious career continued in national defense until his retirement from Sandia National Laboratories in 2004.
His parents preceded Max in death. He is survived by his wife, Irene; his brother, Steven; his children: Son Michael and wife Chanda, daughter Catherine and husband James, and daughter Elizabeth. He had three grandchildren: Cameron, Aidan, and Miranda. He is also survived by The Cousins: Tilton, Crystal, Sheldon, Gordon, Johnny, Randy, and Glenda.
Max’s curiosity and love of life brought about many hobbies, including: reading, sailing, skiing, diving, snorkeling, horseback riding, civil war reenacting, volleyball, bagpipes, and hunting. He was an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Rotary International. Service to his community and church was an important part of his life. Max’s boundless compassion and good humor won him friends in every place he lived and worked, and he will be fondly remembered all over the world.
A memorial service will be September 17 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Dr., Chicago, IL 60693
