Virginia Ann Dempsey Treadaway of Fairfield Glade joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on July 10, 2023. Virginia was a devout Christian lady. Virginia passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born April 3, 1939 to Burt Dempsey SR. and Zona Tolbert in Rome, GA.
Virginia met her husband, John Treadaway at the Dempsey Family dairy in 1958 and was married six months later. Virginia and John both worked a number of years for Dempsey Brother’s Dairy.
Virginia and John moved to Charlotte, NC in 1965 where she joined Rohm & Haas Chemical Co. as a customer service agent. She took early retirement at 50 years of age after 20 years of service.
After retirement, Virginia traveled with John covering most of the east coast. She enjoyed laying by the hotel pool reading her books while John made his sales calls.
Both Virginia and John retired in 1995 and moved to Carolina Beach, NC into a condo. During this time Virginia and John traveled to all 50 states, New Zealand, Australia Canada and Mexico. After five years they built a house in Hampstead, NC where they lived for ten years. In 2010 they moved to Crossville, TN in a small community named Fairfield Glade Retirement Community.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 65 years. Three sons: J. Craig Treadaway and his wife Lisa, Chris M. Treadaway and Christie and Timothy Treadaway and his wife Janice, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister Faye and brother Bill.
John would like to thank Dana Boileve and Chris Treadaway for their loyal help with Virginia in her extended illness. Their help enabled him to keep Virginia at home.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Hampstead Baptist Church, 67 Factory Rd, Hampstead, NC 28443, August 11, 2023 @ 11:00AM.
