Lou Ella Kemmer

Our beautiful angel, Lou Ella (Turner) Kemmer, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18th after an incredible and courageously fought battle over the past several months.

Lou Ella was born on September 9, 1941 here in Crossville.  She was an amazingly strong woman that was passionate about life and lived it her way, with no regrets.  Her main passions were that of her faith in God and that her family and friends were always taken care of, way before any needs of her own.  She accomplished these goals more than she will ever know.  She touched and changed the hearts of everyone she ever met.

She worked several jobs growing up including the Hitching Post and then for several years at the Sherwood Furniture Factory in Spring City.  She followed that by becoming a waitress at the Bean Pot Restaurant for almost 17 years.  She enjoyed and took great pride in her work and had a work ethic that was hard to match by people half her age.

She also loved being outdoors and over the years was right by her husband’s side in raising and showing their Kemmer Stock Mt. Cur dogs, and sometimes beating him a few times in competitions with her prized dogs J. R. and Hunter.  She also loved to hunt and fish and going to the occasional George Jones or Loretta Lynn concert and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a spirited practical joker and loved to laugh.  She was always the most positive person anyone had ever met, even during the time of her illness.  She always wanted to take care of everyone else; that was just her – a Wife, A Mom, A Mema, a Daughter, a Sister, and to everyone, a Best Friend.

She has left her husband of almost 48 years, Robert C. Kemmer and all of her children:  Son – Roy Allen Kemmer, Daughter – Jill Lynn Kemmer, Grandson – Robert Allen Kemmer, Granddaughters – Mary Beth Kemmer and Amber Leigh Kemmer, and Great-Granddaughters – Haley Marie Kemmer and Alexia Caylin Velasco.

She is also survived by her brother, Noah Ervia Turner and sisters Florence Rebecca Sevier, Thelma Jean Justice, Mary Katherine Myers, and Violet Wilma Atkinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents Paul Bryan Turner and Lola Evelyn Wells Turner and brothers Carson Loyd Turner and Hillis Roy Turner and sisters, Dorthy Marie Phillips, Armelda Elene Brown, and Vivian Maxine Tabor.

The family celebrated her life in her home church, the Church of God on Sparta Hwy,  where she raised her family, on Monday, May 21st. Brother Gene Burgess officiated the service.  Pallbearers were:  David Hamby, Delmar Harville, Robert Allen Kemmer, Tommy Lawson, David Myers, and Steven Delk.  She was laid to rest at Grassy Cove United Methodist Cemetery.

Any donations may be sent to the Grassy Cove United Methodist Cemetery Fund, % Hank Kemmer, 1337 Kemmer Rd, Crossville, TN 38555.
