Randy Frances Madison

Randy Madison, 77, of Crossville, TN went to be with the Lord May 2, 2022. He died peacefully holding his wife’s hand after a three and a half month battle with pneumonia and multiple strokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andy and Lilly Madison of Walsenburg, CO and his first wife Carole Madison of Woodland, CA.

Randy is survived by his wife Barbara Madison (Crossville, TN); sisters Peggy Clymore (Spokane, WA), Connie Schlotsfield (Grand Island, NB), and Roxanne Hartman (Pueblo, CO); children Linda Smith (Seattle, WA), Charlene Hildahl (Tacoma, WA), Larry Alan Madison (Spokane, WA), and Randi Caron Jacobs (Big Lake, Alaska); step children Christi Hays Stanley (Edgewater, FL) and William Hays (Benton, AR); also numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one spoiled Pomeranian, Kallie, that he proclaimed as his blonde girlfriend.

Randy spent 32 years in the U.S. Navy. Retiring in 2001 as Senior Chief in the Seabees. His military career took him away quite often, doing 3 yours in Vietnam, tours in Spain, Guam, and Alaska.

For 10 years, Randy attended a cattle drive with his best Navy buddy, Jerry Griffin, and a group of friends and coworkers. There were many “tales” from those outings, driving cattle up the mountains near Durango, CO, setting up camp for Elk hunters, and driving the cattle back down before winter. After one of those excursions, he met Barbara Hays, a traveling nurse in Farmington, NM. They were married in 2005 at Lake Tahoe, CA. In 2006, Randy retired from the city of Woodland, CA and they moved to Costa Rica for some jungle adventures, returning to the states for Barb to finish her nursing career. Barb retired in 2019 and they moved to Crossville, TN in 2020. Randy was loved by everyone that met him. A caring and generous man, he never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband to Barb for 16 years. He loved his family dearly, even though not living close, he cherished the times he had with them. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Pomona United Methodist Church (POW Camp Road, Crossville, TN) on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Pomona United Methodist building fund.
