“An awesome teacher is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.”
Emogene Keyes Teeple, 91, was born on January 21, 1930 to the late Columbus and Erma Keyes in Crossville, TN and passed away on March 18, 2021.
Mrs. Teeple was a Godly lady that loved her family and was a pioneer in the field of education. She highly valued learning and was an alumni of both Carson Newman and Tennessee Technological University and a member of the Cumberland County High School Hall of Fame. Along with her years of teaching experience, including being the supervisor of K-6 instruction in Cumberland County, she paved the path for organized kindergarten. Before kindergarten was established in the 60s, Mrs. Teeple designed and taught her own kindergarten. Her heart had no limits, and she touched the lives of countless children in Cumberland County.
For 30 years, she was the clerk for the Cumberland Baptist Association, and taught Sunday school for over 60 years. A founder of Revolution Church, Mrs. Teeple’s selfless kind nature was always evident. She will be greatly remembered for sending birthday cards to everyone at church, and if you were a child, she would always tuck a $5 bill into the card at her own expense.
If you asked her what her greatest accomplishment in life was, she would always say her family. She is survived by her sons John (Ilene) Teeple, Mark Teeple, and Stephen (Vanessa) Teeple. Grandchildren John (Kirsten) Teeple, Daniel Teeple, Rebekah Teeple Hazelwood (Xane), Dalton Teeple and Ella Mitchell. Great Grandson Jonah Teeple.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband of 38 years Tilbert Teeple and brothers Gordon Keyes and Wayne Keyes.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Josh Cardwell officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John Teeple, Daniel Teeple, Dalton Teeple, Xane Hazelwood, Daniel Keyes and David Keyes.
Sorry to hear of Emogene’s passing. Praying for all of you.
