Jerrie Lynn Cobb, age 49, was born on January 2, 1971 to Larry Flake and Lynda Williams Abston in Jacksonville, FL. She passed away on November 26, 2020 in Crossville, TN. Jerrie was a devoted wife, momma, NeNe, teacher, and friend. Her love and compassion overflowed. This was especially true with her career in early education. For 27 years, her natural ability to teach and care reached the hearts and minds of many children. But this didn’t stop in the classroom. It extended to families, her coworkers, friends, and to the community. In Jerrie’s eyes, all of these were treasured and loved as family. Her hard work and focused energy was spent making the world a better place. Her inner light was a beacon for her family, natural and adopted, and this light will continue to shine in our hearts because of the beautiful years we were blessed to have her. Her days were spent enriching everyone who came in contact with her. From a day of spoiling her grandkids, having family time, or teaching in her classroom, no matter where she was, Jerrie shared the most true and pure love and care.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Cobb; daughters, Toni Lynne Harness and Tara Goddard; grandkids, Jericho and Dakota Harness and LilyJane and RoseMary Goddard; father, Larry Flake; sisters, Lynda Mair and Lynn Colter; brother, Larry Flake, Jr.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lynda Abston; brothers, Ben Smith and Dusty Flake; step son, Dale Cobb; father-in-law, Bud Cobb; step father, Homer Abston; and step mother, Cleo Flake.
A celebration of life for Jerrie will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 3:00 at Smiths Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Tracy Blankenship officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3.
