Fleta lived most of her life in Dayton, Ohio where she raised her daughters and cared for her mother. She worked at and retired from AT&T. She moved back to Crossville in 2006 after the death of her mother the previous year.
Fleta was always so grateful for the love, support and care she received from her friends in Dayton and family, friends and neighbors she had in Crossville. She attended Old Fashioned Independent Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Wakefield Henry, Opal Wakefield Brookhart and A.J. Wakefield; her mother, Minnie Bartholomew Burkhart and her husband, Hurshel Brookhart. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Mike) Harshe of Manassas, Virginia and Karen Mulhern of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Carey (Shawn) Ramandanes and Joe (Sora) Belcher; and great-granddaughters, Michaela and Paige Ramandanes all of Manassas, Virginia.
Fleta loved to dance, was in a bowling league, loved gardening, gospel and country music. She collected telephone company memorabilia and anything bakelite. She loved exotic plants, antiques, treasure hunts at thrift stores, pinto beans and cornbread and wouldn’t miss Dancing with the Stars. She had a wicked sense of humor and was a good and humble friend. She will be missed.
