Phillip Cowan Spangenberg, of Monterey, Tennessee, passed away on May 30, 2020, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 21, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee, and was a resident of Putnam County for the past 22 years. He was the son of Marshall and Evelyn Spangenberg, and was preceded in death by his late wife, Lee Ann Spangenberg, of Monterey, Tennessee.

Phil served in the United States Navy, sailing aboard the USS Constellation during the Vietnam War. He was a career over the road (OTR) driver, an avid NASCAR fan, and a car enthusiast. Phil is survived by family who appreciated him in life and will miss his presence in their future lives.

A private ceremony will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for donations to be made to the Pleasant Hill Community Church.
