Monroe James Thomas, 84, was born November 2, 1927 in Pikeville, TN. He passed away at his home in Crossville, TN surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2012. He completed the eighth grade at Winesapp Elementary School in Pikeville, TN. He was retired from Crossville Rubber Plant (32 years). He enjoyed gardening and was a big wrestling fan. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife- Gladys Pendergrass Thomas from Crossville, daughter- Wilma (Tilman) Mooneyham from Van Buren, TN, son- Rickey (Brenda) Thomas from Dayton, TN, grandsons- James (Casoundra) Simmons, Timothy (Gen) Mooneyham, granddaughter- Kimberly (Joe) Sutherland, great granchildren- Sidney Simmons, Will Sutherland, Hunter Mooneyham, Mason Mooneyham, Alicia Simmons and Megan Sutherland along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents- John and Florence Thomas, first wife- Ida Lee Thomas, second wife- Edna Hedgecoth Thomas, daughter- Melba Simmons, brothers- Walter, McCoy, Roy, Merrion, Everet, and Elmer, and sisters- Nellie Crawford, Vina Lea Thomas, Mamie Davis, and Ollie Mae Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home in Crossville, TN with Bro. Wattenbarger officiating. Family will recieve friends from five to nine on Sunday evening, March 11,2012. Funeral service will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 1 PM with burial to follow in Thomas Cemetery in Pikeville, TN.
