Violet Schmeltz Kolmer was born on April 29, 1927 in Walkerton, IN and died on Saturday, January 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto W. and Bertha Schmeltz and brothers, Virgil, Linder, and Ralph. She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Fairfield Glade; two daughters, Karen Siebert (Randy) of Fishers, IN and Lois Parker (Michael) of Fremont, IN and son, Karl Kolmer (Valerie) of Racine, WI. She has three grandsons, David (Michelle), Paul (Megan) and Kristopher and two step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) and Andrew. She is also survived by three siblings, Evelyn Mark of Niles, MI, Arthur Schmeltz of Walkerton, IN and Wanda Jones of Michigan City, IN.

She attended Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, IN for two years and graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. She taught school in Culver, IN prior to her marriage to Paul on August 17, 1952 in the Walkerton United Brethren Church. She worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne for two years. She and her husband lived in Fort Wayne, IN on three different occasions. They also lived in Birmingham, AL, Hillsdale, MI and Rockford, IL. She was an elder of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne, IN and attended there for 22 years. She retired to Fairfield Glade, TN in 1985 and was an active member in the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

A memorial service was held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Walkerton Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton, IN.

Preferred memorials are to the Endowment Fund of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.
