Betty Jean Moses

Betty Jean Coffee Moses, 84, of Crossville, passed away Wednesday June 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.  She was born July 22, 1933 in Knoxville, TN.  She was the daughter of the late George H. and Lillie Patterson Coffee of Overton County. She moved to Crossville in 1958 with her husband Dr. William C. Moses.  She was devoted wife and mother. She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church and was very active in serving in many areas.  She loved children and was passionate about the ministry of Cedar Lake Camp. She was also a special education teacher in the county schools for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. William C. Moses DDS, Crossville; daughters Ginger (Craig) Williams of Crossville, Kristin (Darryl) Smith of Crossville, Joni (Robert) Stewart of Cookeville, Melody (David) Mahan of Crossville; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 2:00p.m., with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Central Baptist Church. Pastors Roland Smith, Ken Clayton and David Mahan will be officiating. Interment will be in Crossville City Cemetery.

  1. Betty Jean was a friend and classmate from the Livingston Academy class of ’51 and part of a group I “ran with” throughout our four years at Livingston Academy. After graduation I lost contact with her until our class began to reunite regularly. I will always remember her as a good-natured, sweet young lady. Yes, in my mind she will remain a sweet young lady. Bye, bye for now Betty, be seeing you soon.
