Virginia Ruth Hall Drury, age 64, went to be with her Savior January 3, 2012, in Prattville, AL, following nine years of increasing dementia, cared for at home in her last days by her husband and son.
A beloved PE teacher, Special Education teacher, Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader, wife and mother, Ruth lived with a pure, contented heart filled with love for God and others, a soul filled with the joy of the Lord, a mind filled with the Word of God, a constant prayer upon her lips, hands that cared for those around her, and a life that exalted Christ.
Ruth often would ask people she met, “Do you know God loves you? Do you know He sent his Son Jesus to die for you? And, that if you trust Jesus as your Savior, you’ll go to be with Him in Heaven one day?”
A native of Mayland, TN, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Hall of Mayland. She is survived by Lt Col (Ret. USAF) Tom Drury, her husband of 38 years, and Tommy Drury, her son, as well as her brothers Jim (Peggy) Hall of Woody, and Joe Hall of Mayland, and her sister Pam (Bill) Warrington and their daughter Ashley, of Linary. She was a 1969 graduate of Belmont College, where she and Tom met. Faithfully accompanying him around the world in the Air Force, she lived in Panama City, FL; Shaw AFB, SC; Fairborn, OH; Austin, TX; Wethersfield, UK; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and other places.
A homegoing service will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM, to be conducted by Ruth’s cousin, Pastor Mark Hall (of Dripping Springs Baptist Church). Visitation will be held immediately before the service, from 12:00 to 1:00. She will be interred in the churchyard of Mayland Baptist Church.
