Dr. Thomas George Noll, age 77, of Crossville, formerly of Hillsdale, Michigan, passed away April 29, 2016. He was born on November 7, 1938 in Garden City, Kansas to the late Dr. Carlton Matthais and Mary Francis Noll. He graduated from Evergreen High School in Colorado in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1956 – 1959, and then attended Northern Arizona University. After graduation in 1964, he attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating in 1968. After completing his residency training at Riverside Hospital in Trenton, Michigan, he set up his private practice in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was certified in family medicine, geriatrics, and medical acupuncture. He was a Fellow and Certified Diplomat of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He won numerous awards, yet had little regard for status. He was active in the community and served as Exalted Ruler in Elks Club from 1989 – 1990. He was on staff at Hillsdale Community Hospital from 1969 – 2001. He served as Chief of Staff from 1980 – 1982. He was Medical Director of Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility from 1989 – 2000 and was Medical Examiner of Hillsdale County from 1989 – 2001. He was also Medical Director of Myrtle House Drug & Alcohol Detox Center. He was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Michigan State University and Lincoln Memorial University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. He retired from clinical practice in 2001 and moved to Crossville, Tennessee and began an Osteopathic Manipulation & Acupuncture clinic. Dr. Tom was known to his colleagues, students, and patients, many of whom became friends, as a compassionate, generous, and caring physician. He made a difference in the lives of many. His greatest passion was helping others. He was a constant encourager, and his wish for everyone was that they would find the same unconditional love which he discovered during the last years of his life’s journey.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Katherine Dunaway Noll, son Christopher & wife Taryn Noll, of LaGrange, Kentucky, daughters Lisa & husband Al Maxwell of Caramel, Indiana, Angelina & husband Damion Arthur of Crossville, Tennessee, sister Kay Ferry of Shipshewana, Indiana, brother Richard & wife Lin Noll of Hillsdale, Michigan, brother-in-law William & wife Ann Dunaway of Spartenburg, South Carolina, brother-in-law Johnny & wife Margo Dunaway of Knoxville, Tennessee, brother-in-law David & wife Susan Dunaway of LaFollette, Tennessee, sister-in-law Marie & husband Larry Meders of Jellico, Tennessee, brother-in-law Robert & wife Jean Dunaway of Crofton, Maryland, seven grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. His family is thankful for the loving care of Dr. Pierre Berry & the staff at Wyndridge Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Church B53 on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Harold Cox officiating.
