John E. McNulty, 86 of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011.
He was born on November 19, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN, and was raised in Nashville, TN, where he graduated from West End High School. He served with the Naval Air during WWII and returned to graduate from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelors of Engineering degree. After graduation he joined Westinghouse Electric Corp., and spent twelve years in Atlanta, GA, in the Industrial Sales operation. While in Atlanta, he served as Church School Superintendent of Cokesbury Methodist Church. He was transferred with Westinghouse to Pittsburgh, PA, where he was a member of Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church and President of the Vanderbilt Alumni Club. Following his retirement, he relocated to Fairfield Glade, TN, in pursuit of the perfect round of golf. He was a member of Fairfield Glade Community Church and served in several leadership positions within the church. In addition to his church involvement, he was an officer in the Fairfield Glade Lions Club, trustee of the Cumberland County Elks Lodge, volunteer with the Cumberland Medical Center, and volunteer with the S.B.A.’s SCORE organization.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Swift McNulty. He is survived by his daughters, Joanne Caudill and husband Bill of Somerset, KY, and Susan Gerber and husband Ray of San Diego, CA; sister, Mary Ondako and husband Paul of Fairfield Glade, TN; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
