George Alfred McElhaney, age 72, was born on December 3, 1942 to the late Clarence Milton and Georgia Lorene McDaniel McElhaney in Loudon County, Tennessee and passed away on September 1, 2015 in Crossville, Tennessee.

He lived on a houseboat and loved to be on the water fishing, and he was an expert at playing pool. George also enjoyed racing and working in the Sportsman series, and he traveled the NASCAR racing circuit. He was an avid UT fan and followed his beloved Vols wherever they played. He enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas.

George is survived by his second wife and companion- Jean Smith; son- Buzzard McElhaney; daughters- Sharlene Warner, Georgia Davisson (Michael), and Ruby Miller (Robert), Anna Margaret McElhaney; step-daughters- Sharon Meadows Marine, Kathy Meadows Walton, and Donna Sue Meadows; grandchildren- George Isaac Warner McElhaney, Justin James Cooper, Nicholas Lindell Bruce, Jessica Dawn Woody, Brittany Nicole Wood, Cameron Allen Walker, and Kenzley Jade Walker; six great grandchildren;  sisters- Betty Houston and companion- Cotton Hankins; several nieces and nephews, and first wife- Wilma McElhaney.

George was preceded in death by his brothers James McElhaney and Roy McElhaney (Norma).

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 11 to 1. A memorial service will also be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday starting at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doyle Ashburn officiating.
