Naomi Ruth Swearingen (nee Grismer), age 88, formerly of Eureka Springs, Ark. and Arlington Heights, IL  passed away January 4, 2015 at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

She was born in Chicago, IL where she spent most of her life, then moving to Arkansas and finally settling in Crossville, TN.

Her parents were William H. Grismer and Mary Dohse Grismer both of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, W. Wayne Swearingen who passed away in 2009.

She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Crossville, TN.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, spending time with family and friends and being an active church member. She also enjoyed taking care of Lady, her cat.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Carol (Ralph) Stewart, of Mountain City, TN, son and daughter-in-law, Keith (Elaine) Swearingen of Manhattan, IL, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Crossville, TN with a luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Ascension Lutheran Church’s building fund, 426 Sparta Drive, Crossville, TN 38555.
