Eugene “Gene” Roy Garrett, 73, of Crossville, TN passed away on September 28th, 2011. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the chapel at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, September 30, at 8:00 P.M. in the chapel. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City, TN on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM Central time/12:00 PM Eastern time.
Gene was born on December 5, 1937 to Roy and Ruby Garrett in Athens, Tennessee. He worked as a Greyhound Bus Driver until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked part time at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home for 14 years. He loved old cars, going to car shows, enjoyed camping, and attending church.
Gene is survived by his wife, Alberta Garrett; daughter, Sonya Renee Luttrell, stepsons, Jeff McDonald and Willie Threet, grandchildren, Samuel Luttrell, Stephen Luttrell, Justin McDonald, step grandchildren, Mandy McDonald, Kelsey Threet, Kayla Threet, Megan McDonald, Shelby Gene McDonald, two great grandchildren, and special friends C.W. Ramsey and John Browder. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Garrett, and daughter, Elisa Jean Garrett.
The funeral was conducted by Pastor Ken Clayton and Pastor Mike Garrett with special music sung by Mike Garrett. Pallbearers are Steve Luttrell, Sam Luttrell, John Browder, Ronnie Garrett, Leon Burke, and Gary Meadows. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff McDonald, Willie Threet, Donnie McGhee, and Ronnie Gunter.
I am so sorry to hear of Gene’s death. I remember him so well as one of the finest young men in our class, and talked with him at our class reunion last
year. Gene will be remembered for his kindness and concern for others. May God bless your family in the

Just was thinking of old friends and looked up this name… And was wondering.. IF by some chance..this would be the same ER Garrett that was in the Partroopers stationed at FortBragg, NC in 1958/59 and Had a cousin married to a Pastor Morrill (or Morrell) that was pastoring a Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC.? It would be nice to know. When I knew him while he would visit his cousin & husband at Rocky Mount, I think he said he was from Kingsport, TN. If so please let me know..
