Thurman, Betty Lou- joined her mother, father and brother in Heaven on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Cumberland Medical Center with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Robert Thurman for 61 years. She was the first of seven children born March 3, 1925 to Carney and Margaret Conner who preceded her in death along with her brother, Doyle Conner. Betty grew up in Glidden, Iowa where she graduated from Glidden High School. She graduated from Iowa State University with a Baccalaureate Degree in Dietetics and obtained a combined Master’s Degree from the University of Iowa and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Betty was a life member of the American Dietetic Association and a Master Gardener. She enjoyed golf,  travelling, and viewing all sports. Betty will be lovingly missed by her husband Robert, and by her son Roger Thurman and partner Catherine Fynes and daughter Beverly Boling and husband Ross. She is also survived by brothers Jim Conner and wife Lorene, Floyd Conner and wife Bev, Duane Conner and wife Joyce along with sisters Shirley Clark and husband Victor and Lill Draves and husband Russ;  by grandchildren Jennifer Thiede and husband Jamie, Zachary Thurman, Clinton Boling, Jack Boling, Mario Boling, Alexandra Thurman, and Taylor Nutting; and by great grandchildren Andrew Thiede, Gabrielle Thiede and Avery Thiede. Services were held at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church where Betty was a long-time member. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a memorial gift to a charity of your choice.
