Alfred (Al) Andrew Tenneson

TennesonAlfred (Al) Andrew Tenneson, age 88, of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, passed away on December 14, 2013 after battling cancer. He is survived by wife Beverly, children Barbara (Roger) Grivno,  Debra (Robert) Carlson, Alfred (Doris) Tenneson Jr., Gary (Diane) Tenneson, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was born on May 21, 1925 to Julia Emily (Huseby) & Alfred Andrew Tenneson in Mayville, North Dakota.  Al and his siblings, Larry, Marian, Adrianne, Helen, Lloyd, Roy, Emory, Dolly and Donald were raised in Moorhead, MN.

Al married the love of his life, Beverly (Bev) Ann Michelson, November 24, 1949 and together they raised their four children.  Al was a great husband and father, he knew hard work and long hours were needed to provide for a family and he was a man who took his responsibilities seriously.  Al loved to laugh and have fun, he teased the grandchildren relentlessly.

Al was a World War II Navy veteran and after the war, he attended Interstate Business College in Fargo for two years and then began his career as a Medical Administrator for the Veterans Administration until retirement in 1980.  Al’s job provided the opportunity to move around the country.  Throughout the years, Al and Bev established homes in Moorhead MN, Dilworth MN, Miami FL, Iron Mountain MI, Portland OR, Tomah WI, St Cloud MN, Perham MN, Detroit Lakes MN, Niceville FL, and Crossville TN. But the family always returned to “the lake” near Perham, Minnesota, up until 2011.

Al and Bev chose two verses for their wedding; Genesis 2:18 provided him his greatest friend Bev, and Acts 16:31 passage gave him full assurance of his awaiting Savior.

Al Tenneson cherished and demonstrated his love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His personal love and devotion to his wife was an inspiration for all of us.

The family of Al Tenneson are extremely appreciative of the tender care he received from Life Care Center of Crossville, and Cumberland House Hospice as they lovingly escorted him into the arms of Jesus. This local hospice facility is one of the best in the country.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19th, 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church of Fairfield Glade.
