Charles David Wentworth

WentworthC WentworthWentworth, Charles David, passed away September 10, 2013 at Fairfield Glade Assisted Living. He was preceded in death by his parents Mattie Greenwood and Frank Wentworth, his brothers Paul and Harry Wentworth, his sister Judy Stanley, and his son Todd Wentworth.

Charles was born in Bedford, Kentucky. He attended Eastern Kentucky State College on a basketball scholarship and was in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Charles worked for HVAC in Louisville from 1954-1978. During this time he had three children Teresa, Jeff, and Todd. Charles attended Beechwood Baptist Church and served on the Board of Deacons for 12 years.  In 1978 Charles moved to LaPorte Indiana with his wife Judy and step-son Tripp where he worked for HVAC from 1978-1984. Charles and Judy then moved to Alaska until he retired in 1997. Charles and Judy bought a house in Fairfield Glade in 1991. He attended Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church and was a very active supporter of Crab Orchard Elementary School and Stone Memorial High School basketball and wrestling teams. He was a member of the Elks and the Cumberland County Republican Party. Before his illness Charles was an avid golfer, fisherman, and loved to travel. 

Charles is survived by his wife: Judy, daughter: Teresa, son: Jeff, step-son Tripp, grandchildren: David, Bryan, Hadley, Wesley, Emma, Mary, Lily, Edward, and Joseph; brother: Jimmy, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 14, 2013 at Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church with service to follow at 11. In lieu of flowers donations to the Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church building fund or to their multiple ministries would be appreciated.
