Dale Fonso Smith, age 39, son of former Crossvillian, Delmer Smith, was born on August 16, 1973 to Delmer Ray and Monica Cotter Smith in Eglin, FL and passed away August 9, 2013 in Jacksonville, NC. He was enlisted in the Navy, served on the law enforcement in Florida, and worked with explosives as a civil engineer. He enjoyed physical fitness, singing and was directly involved with the music department in his church.
He is survived by his parents- Delmer Ray Smith and Monica Cotter Smith; brother- Samuel Wade Smith (Rachel); sister- Jennifer Smith Eller; nieces- Jennifer Jo Bilbrey and Chloe Rachel Smith; nephew- Logan Samuel Smith; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 1 to 3 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow. Pastor Lev Humphries will officiate.
We worked with Dale at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. He was also a good friend. Our deepest sympathies to Dale’s family. He had such an amazing voice and touched so many lives with his music.
