Alton Thurman Jones, age 83, was born on September 23, 1929 to Merdia and Rosie Jones in Crossville, TN and passed away on July 4, 2013 in Crossville, TN. He worked as a welder for Chrysler Corp and loved to work. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and hunting. Alton enjoyed playing music including the banjo and guitar and was efficient in the harmonica that he played in church.

He is survived by his wife- Dorothy Beaty Jones; sons- Lloyd Jones, Earl Jones (Pamela), and Christopher Jones; daughter- Kathie Straub (Don); grandchildren- Brian, Michelle, Greg, Kari, Michael, Nathan, Matthew, Jeremy, and Ben; great grandchildren- Lane, Emma, Payton, Shelby, and Dylan; brothers- Clayton and Dayton Jones; and sister- Frances Caruthers.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents- Merdia Jones and Rosie Ella McCoy Jones; brothers- Augward, Fred, Clay, and Herbert Jones; sisters- Orbie Hall and Alida Creason.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 2 at the Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Martin and Pastor Tommy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Springs Chapel Cemetery in Banner Springs, TN, Fentress County, following the service
