Marian ‘Mari’ Lee (Barker) Madsen, 83, Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, formally of Lake County, Illinois was called home to Heaven on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mari was born February 1, 1930 in Atkins, Iowa to John T. and Marian L. Barker. She attended high school in Phelps, Wisconsin and went on to Oshkosh Teachers’ College. In 1949, Mari married Tom Madsen in Madison, WI. Mari was a resident of Lake County, IL, for 60 years living in Waukegan, Gurnee, Libertyville and Lindenhurst. Mari enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, cooking, baking and collecting. Mari was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Waukegan, IL.
Mari is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Tom, three children, Jane (Jay) Mathews of San Antonio, TX, Tom (Karen) Madsen of Lake Villa, IL and Nancy (Phil) Powell of Fairfield Glade, TN, two granddaughters, Sarah (Tom) Stuebner and Becca (Dave) Dillion and one great grandson on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Betty Helf and Jackie Sea and a brother, John C. Barker.
A lovely memorial service was held in Fairfield Glade, TN on April 14, 2013, and another memorial service will be held at Chain of Lakes Bible Church in Lake Villa, IL on a date to be determined. Crossville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be sent to Chain of Lakes Bible Church, 43 W. Mari and her delightful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
