Kenneth Earl Neff

Kenneth E Neff, age 75, of Crossville, TN, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 18, 2011.

Ken was born on July 30, 1936, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Joseph and Ruby (Troyer) Neff.  He married Sue Ann Juday on August 20, 1966, and would have celebrated 45 years of marriage together.

Ken was a graduate of the Purdue University School of Agriculture, He was also an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.  For over 40 years he was a proud member of the John Purdue Club and attended all Purdue football games. He was also elected to and served on the Oak Hill United School Corporation school board in Converse, Indiana, from which all three of his children graduated. He was a long-time member of the Meshingomesa Country Club in Marion where he enjoyed many rounds of golf and was once a Blue Blazer Tournament champion.  He was an active member of the LaFountain Masonic Lodge and Ft. Wayne and Crossville Scottish Rite.   
Prior to working for Purdue University at the Indiana State Chemist Dept, Ken followed in a long family tradition and farmed for nearly 25 years. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana for more than 30 years, Ken joined Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Crossville, Tennessee following his retirement and move to Fairfield Glade.

In Tennessee, he continued to be of service in his community as an active member of the Shriners Hospital, helping to raise thousands of dollars for this and other children’s charities, including Shepherd’s Little Flock Day Care Center.  Along with playing with his three grandchildren, he most loved traveling and cruising, and playing golf and Bridge.  He belonged to numerous Bridge clubs and golf leagues over the years.

Survivors include:  two brothers, David Neff (Barbara) of Lawrence, Kansas and Robert “Bob” (Rheba) Whitlock, Marion, Indiana; one son, Michael, “Mike” Chicago, Illinois, two daughters, Kathryn “Katie”(William) Hallcomb, Cookeville, Tennessee and Judy Neff Drauszewski (Mark), Chesterfield, Virginia; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lydia Drauszewski and one grandson, Drew Sorkin. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cumberland House (Hospice) 140 Kate’s Korner  Crossville, TN 38555; Shepherd’s Little Flock Day Care (Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church) 1461 Sparta Highway  Crossville, TN 38571; Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity scholarship fund at Purdue University 607 N. University St. West Lafayette, IN 47906.

A celebration of his rich life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM.

At a later date, a celebration of his life will be held in Marion, Indiana. Interment will be in Garden of Memories.
