Charles Edward Phelps

Charles Phelps, age 89, was born on July 28, 1923 in Troy, MI and died on October 22, 2012 at his home in Crossville, TN.  He enlisted in the Army and was a World War II Vet. Later he became a Powerhouse Engineer for Ford Motor Company and retired from there. Charles was a “jack of all trades” and could build anything. He loved wood working, camping, and playing football. And enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying airplanes, sailing, and driving his motorboat. All in all, he put family first and spent 74 years with his loving wife.

He was survived by his wife- Maryana Beatty Phelps; daughters- Nancy Spencer (Tom) and Nedra Hamner; grandchildren- Gerald Harms (Kathy), Kimberly Kutchey (Gerald), Jim Reed, and Cathy McCampbell; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and special friend of the family- Ed Diaz.

He was preceded in death by his parents- George and Nellie Walsh Phelps; sister- Helen Riley.
