CROSSVILLE, TN

Robert J. Wiedemann
May 7, 1931 to November 5 2026

Born in Marion, Ohio to Hugh J. and Ernestine Lowman Wiedemann, Bob lived in several small towns in Ohio as he was growing up. Upon graduating from The Ohio State University he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps where he became a fighter pilot. During the course of his 22 ½ year Marine Corps career he served two tours in Viet Nam and was awarded several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired as a Lt. Col.

Bob had two children, Fritz and Gretchen, with his first wife. After retiring from the USMC he worked various jobs in east TN and North Carolina until he went to work in Saudi Arabia for a Saudi owned company. Then, returning to Ohio for a vacation he met Virginia Bischoff and a year later he returned to Ohio, they got married and he gained an additional 9 step children.

Bob and Ginny purchased The Village Hardware in Ada, Ohio which they subsequently developed into an interior design business named The Decorator Shop. Ten years later they decided to sell the business and move to Fairfield Glade TN. After purchasing a house in The Glade, Bob spent the better part of a year doing major remodeling on it before he and Ginny actually moved in.

After settling in The Glade in 1991, in addition to doing some flying out of the Crossville Airport with his friend Ralph VonDane who worked for the Forest Service, Bob worked grounds maintenance and did special wood working projects at Druid, Stonehenge, Heatherhurst and Deer Creek golf courses part time over the next 15 years where he made many new friends and “played a lot of golf”. After retiring again he became a regular volunteer on the reception desk at the local Habitat office and also joined the CMC fitness center where he worked out regularly. A life long love of shooting led to his becoming a very active member of the FFG Sportsman Club, where he served as range officer and safety officer on a regular basis for the weekly pistol shooting competitions. He was also an Endowment Life Member of the NRA.

A loving devoted husband and caring neighbor and friend, Bob will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.
