H. Glenn McDonald

–

Crossville, Tennessee

Howard Glenn McDonald, age 93, was born on March 21, 1933, in Livingston, TN, to Howard Taft and Edna Threet McDonald and passed away in Crossville, TN, on October 19, 2026. Glenn was a man full of life and had planned to live to 100. He made friends all over the U.S. and will be missed by all who knew him.

Glenn enlisted in the Army in June 1953 and served two years with the 10th Mountain Division, where he trained in mountain climbing and skiing in Colorado. Later on, he loved to tell stories about “running moonshine” and the fast cars that went with it.

Over the years, Glenn wore many hats: auctioneer, realtor, and broker. He took great pride in helping fellow real estate agents reach their goals and provide for their families. He was a well-known face at Little Crab Masonic Lodge No. 614, the Alhambra Shriners, and Elks Club 2751.

Glenn had a love for gardening, harvesting grapes and winemaking, barbeque, and Jack Daniels.

Glenn was active in the local community serving in the Chamber of Commerce, attending ribbon cuttings of new business openings, and a founding member of the Upper Cumberland Tourism Association. As a Tennessee Squire, he enjoyed going to all functions at Jack Daniel's Distillery and was the brand's best representative.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Micki McDonald, and stepson, Terry Cope, two grandchildren, Jonathan (Kaylie) and Samantha Byrd (Derek), great grand daughters, Remington and Haelyn, and special friends, Kay (and the late Lacy) Upchurch, Paul Horst and Katrina Davis. He is preceded in death by his wife, Darla Jean Wheeler, his parents, his son, Howard Glenn McDonald II, and the mother of his children, Willie Linder (Ms. Bill).

A memorial will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Glenn's final request was that he be sent off with a party - the kind that he was so fond of hosting. His final party will be held in the Care Center behind the funeral home immediately following the service (~3:00 PM). All who knew and loved him are invited to send him off in style doing his favorite things.
