Garrett (Gary) Russell Laura

Garrett R. Laura (Gary), age 71, the beloved husband of wife, Eileen for 38 years. He was a United States Navy veteran who served our country during the Vietnam War. Gary loved to be involved in the community, especially the Crossville Lions Club where he was a member for 15 years, serving as president for 5 years. He was involved with the Cumberland County Playhouse and was a lifetime member of the Master Gardeners in Tennessee. Gary enjoyed volunteering at the Crossville Railroad Club. Gary and Eileen are also the district representatives to Tennessee School for the Blind for the state.

He leaves family to cherish his memory: wife, Eileen Laura; sons, Timothy Laura (Trish) and Michael Moore (Louise); daughter-in-law, Paula Laura; grandchildren, Sean, Logan, and Tyler Laura, Ashley and Ryan Laura, Gabrielle, Brendan, and Alexandra Moore, all of Michigan; brother, Michael Laura of California; and sister, Darlene Poplawski of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his son, James Russell Laura.

A memorial service for Gary will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 151 St. Alphonsus Way Crossville, TN 38555.

Henry TL Parks

Henry TL Parks passed away June 13, 2018 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN after being involved in an auto accident on June 2, 2018. He was born on Feb. 9, 1941 in Sparta, TN to the late Fred and Florence Williams Parks.

Henry was also preceded in death by his sons, Randy, David, and Paul Parks; brothers, Sonny and Buster Parks; and sisters, Jessie Vaughn, Dixie Cunningham, and Tennie Spivey.

Henry is survived by his wife, Judy Parks of Pleasant Hill; sons, Darrell (Jeanna) Parks and Michael Parks, both of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Tammy (Carlos) Eldridge of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Timothy, Tiffany, Darren, Sarah, Josh, Joey, Ashley, and Miah; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Alley Posekany; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Henry will also be held at Crossville Memorial on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2 with Bros. Junior Masters and Sam Davis officiating. He will be laid to rest in Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.

Betty Jean Moses

Betty Jean Coffee Moses, 84, of Crossville, passed away Wednesday June 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.  She was born July 22, 1933 in Knoxville, TN.  She was the daughter of the late George H. and Lillie Patterson Coffee of Overton County. She moved to Crossville in 1958 with her husband Dr. William C. Moses.  She was devoted wife and mother. She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church and was very active in serving in many areas.  She loved children and was passionate about the ministry of Cedar Lake Camp. She was also a special education teacher in the county schools for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. William C. Moses DDS, Crossville; daughters Ginger (Craig) Williams of Crossville, Kristin (Darryl) Smith of Crossville, Joni (Robert) Stewart of Cookeville, Melody (David) Mahan of Crossville; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 2:00p.m., with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Central Baptist Church. Pastors Roland Smith, Ken Clayton and David Mahan will be officiating. Interment will be in Crossville City Cemetery.

Dorothy Irene Lewis

Dorothy Irene Lewis, 89, was born on May 24, 1929 to Oza and Cordia Catron Brown in Crossville, TN. She passed away on June 7, 2018. Dorothy loved entertaining her family and friends and cooking them a good meal.

She is survived by her children: Treva Bradley, Pugh Lewis, Pat Thomas, Brenda Roberts, Birdie Hall, Steve Lewis, Sandy Matthews, Chester Lewis, Frank Lewis, and Mike Lewis; 25 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Lewis; and son, Charles Hill Lewis.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Johnson. She will be laid to rest in Taylors Chapel Cemetery.

Elmer Randall (Randy) Westervelt, II

Elmer Randall (Randy) Westervelt, II, 74, was born on September 13, 1943 to Ralph Elmer and Elizabeth Warmke Westervelt in Somerville, NJ. He passed away on June 5, 2018. Elmer was a beekeeper and loved woodworking. He also enjoyed going camping and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Anne Westervelt; sons, Benjamin Randall Westervelt (Fawn) and Adam Brian Westervelt (Liza); daughter, Christina Marie Westervelt; son-in-law, Fred Gunter; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and brother, William George Westervelt (Laura Lee Smith).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elizabeth Warmke Westervelt; daughter, Jennifer Anne Gunter; brother, James Peter Westervelt; and sister, Betty Westervelt.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service for Elmer will also be held on Friday following visitation at 7.

Ollie Katherine Fiste

Ollie Katherine Fiste, age 88, was born on April 15, 1930 to the late William V. Lewis (Bill) and Martha Della Bryant Lewis in Crossville, TN. She passed away on May 28, 2018.

She is survived by her sons: David A. Fiste of Crossville, TN and Daniel J. Fiste of Sparta, TN; brother, Jerry W. Lewis (Margie) of Sparta, TN; sisters, Rietta Fay Fissell (John) of Bellbrooke, OH and Etta Kay Eckert of Centerville, OH.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Doward W. Lewis, Lin Gordon Lewis, Curtis C. Lewis, and David G. Lewis; and sisters: Audrey A. Hardee and Rachel Eula Davis.

A graveside service for Ollie will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 3 p.m. in Thomas Springs Cemetery.

Keith Ray Zempel

Keith Ray Zempel, 72, was born on June 28, 1945 to Franklin and Margrette Ribble Zempel in Waupaca, WI. He went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Keith was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served our country in the U.S. Army from October 1965 to September 1967. He worked at a dairy farm in Waupaca, WI for 20 years. Keith and his wife moved to Crossville, TN in 2000. Keith was a member of Central Baptist Church in Crossville, TN and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association as Goodie Reps for the southeast region. He was self-employed in lawncare specialty. He also worked at the golf courses in Fairfield Glade.

He is survived by his mother, Margarette Ribble Zempel; wife, Marilyn Zempel; son, Bryan (Stacey) Zempel; daughters Christine (Troy) Ribble and Kimberly Johnson; grandchildren, Mercedes (Benjamin) Plitt, Charity (Timothy) Heckman, Breianna and Isaiah Ribble, Chryseis and Jeriah Zempel, Kayla (Josh) Belleu, Courtney Zempel, D.J. (McKayla) Johnson, and Nathaniell Johnson; 4 great grandchildren and 2 expected very soon; brothers, Ted (Barb) Zempel and David (Ruthann) Zempel; and sister, Judy (Alan) Betz.

He is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Zempel; and brother, Jerry Zempel.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 10 to 11 at Central Baptist Church. A memorial service for Keith will also be held on Friday following visitation.

Anthony Leon Houston

Anthony Leon Houston, 70, was born on March 6, 1948 to Floyd and Dorothy Patton Houston in Crossville, TN. He passed away on May 30, 2018.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay Williams; grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Williams; and brother, Doyal Leroy Lowell Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Patton Houston; wife, Connie Houston; and sister, Alta Frame.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 2 to 4 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Anthony will also be held on Saturday following visitation with Dennis Lovell officiating. He will be laid to rest in Linary Cemetery.

Floyd Gilbert Gore

Floyd Gilbert Gore, 90, was born on May 26, 1928 to C.A. and Hattie Cross Gore in Livingston, TN. He passed away on May 29, 2018. Floyd was a member of the U.S. Army, Air Force, and National Guard, and a Korean War Veteran. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a magician. Floyd was a car dealer for 55 years, and he was the first Buy Here, Pay Here car dealer in Crossville, TN.

He is survived by his wife, Janis (Wyatt) Gore; daughters, Linda Gore Bennett (Frank) of Crossville, TN and Carolyn Gore Thompson (Lonnie) of Peachland, NC; son, Floyd Kevin Gore of Crossville, TN; grandchildren, Jason and Jeff Dyer, both of Crossville, TN, Jill Dyer Green of Knoxville, TN, Sabrina Thompson Mullis of Peachland, NC, April Thompson Bishop of Monroe, NC, and Hannah and Andrew Gore, both of Crossville, TN; and 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, C.A. and Hattie Cross Gore; sisters, Ruth Mathis and Edyth Miller; and brothers, Paul and Harold Gore.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10 to 12 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Floyd will also be held on Saturday following visitation with Rev. Jason Dyer officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mayland Cemetery.

Robert H. Watkins

Robert H. Watkins, 85, passed away in Crossville, TN on May 25, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia (Hill) Watkins, wife, Marzee, son, Wade, sister, Shirley Sisco, and brother, Jon. He is survived by daughter, Lynn (Richard) Lane, sons, Scott and Brian, and sister, Nancy Hunter.

A graveside service will be held at Nashville National Cemetery.
