Victoria Vines

Victoria Vines, age 59, was born on July 25, 1960 to Virgil and Margaret Netherton in Dayton, Ohio. She passed away on September 9, 2019 in Knoxville, TN.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Vines; children, Brezzi and Marlon Harville, Jimmy Vines (Patti), and Shannon Beadle (Mark); grandchildren, Ian and Aura Borchers, Synder Harville, and Justin, Jimmy Jr., Kristen, Kaitlen, and Makayla Vines; brother, Mylan Netherton (Katherine); sister-in-law, Carol Netherton; nieces and nephews, Zane Netherton, Teasha Medley, Amber Goad, and Russell Goforth; and great nieces and nephews, Ashley Pruitt, Bailey Kilby, Natalie Medley, Blake Kilby, and Austen Medley.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Margaret Netherton; and brothers, Michael, Doug, and Ricky Netherton.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Western Cemetery in Walkerville, Arkansas.

Michelle Ann Sabine

Michelle Ann Douglas Sabine, age 76, was born on June 2, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts and died on August 31, 2019.

Active for many years in Cumberland County, Mrs. Sabine served as Chairman of the Art Circle Public Library and was Co-Chair of the Building Committee for the “new library” built in the 1970s.  She also was elected to and served as Chairman of The Cumberland County School Board; as Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Uplands Village; and as Chairman of the Cumberland County Playhouse Board of Directors.  Mrs. Sabine also performed on stage in several Playhouse productions, particularly in shows for children.  She co-founded a children’s theatre program and Summer Arts Day Camp.  Mrs. Sabine was a member of the Crossville Jaycettes; and the former Church of the Good Shepherd, UCC.

Mrs. Sabine attended Maryville College and received a B.A. in Library Science from Tennessee Technological University.

She loved books, bridge, shopping, and swimming. She enjoyed sending cards to friends and family with trademark stickers and confetti.  Fresh cut flowers made her happy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton R. And Ann C. Douglas; husband, Harry D. Sabine; son, Steven D. Sabine; sister, Lee D. Ketchersid; and parents-in-law, Harry G. and Ruth M. Sabine.

She is survived by her son, Jay Sabine (Rose); daughter-in-law, Toni Sabine; grandson, Jordan Hall-Sabine; her brothers Peter Douglas (Linda), Robert Douglas (Nancy), Eric Douglas (Sheila), Steven Douglas (Deborah), Neil Douglas (Theresa); nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Tony Glenn Sherrill

Tony Glenn Sherrill, age 58, was born to Ed and Minnie Johnson Sherrill on January 26, 1961 in Crossville, TN and passed away on September 3, 2019 in Knoxville, TN. He owned Volunteer Tree and Landscaping and enjoyed serving this area. Tony loved to spend time with his family camping, boating, and 4-wheeling, but at any given moment you could find him whittling away the day.

He is survived by his wife- Rhonda Sherrill; children- Tonya Fleenor (Keith Harless), Shannon Ferguson (Danny), and Tony Sherrill Jr. (Megan); grandchildren- Alley Sisco, Danny Ferguson Jr., Bailey Ferguson, Oaklynn Sherrill, and Weston Ferguson; brothers- Jerry, James, and Junior Sherrill; sisters- Brenda Durnbaugh and Treasa Brumbalough; and special friend- Fred Stout. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother- Frank Sherrill.

The family will  receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 with service to follow at 8 pm. Ralph Reagan will officiate.

Frank Denton Smith

Frank Denton Smith, age 84, was born on September 23, 1934 to Haskell and Myrtle Hill Smith in Livingston, TN. He passed away on August 25, 2019. He was an X-Ray technician at CMC.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Smith; son, Edward Smith (Kathy Dooley-Smith); grandchildren, Kassie Dooley-Smith and Sydney Dooley-Smith; and sister, Nell Daily.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service for Frank will also be held on Sunday following visitation with Larry Robbins and Steve Sitton officiating.

Gary Lynn Cook

Gary Lynn Cook, age 63, was born on September 17, 1955 in Monterey, TN and passed away on August 25, 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Cook; daughter, Emery Cook; sister, Margaret (Cook) Tanner; brother, Gayther Cook; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marcum Cook; mother, Mabel Cook; brothers, Jimmie Cook, Billie Cook, Bobby Cook, Ronnie Cook, and Infant Baby Boy Cook.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 11 to 1 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday following visitation with Danny Smith officiating.

Dorcas Colleen Redding Webb

Dorcas Colleen Redding Webb was born the 13th day of July 1926 and passed into life eternal on the 22nd day of August 2019. She was the 13th daughter of James Martin Redding and youngest child of Ella Hagewood Redding. Her father was 76 years old when she was born and died when she was 14. To support the family after his death, parts of their large farm were sold. On land that remained, she and her former husband, Cobb Webb, built the Starlite Drive-In Theatre, which they operated for many years. Before the drive-in, she was a long-distance operator for AT&T and worked in Oak Ridge.

Surviving Dorcas are two songs, John (Ellie) and Jack, and two daughters, Linda Patton and Amy Gray. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

In honor of our mother, please go outside today and admire the beauty of the clouds, or the smoke on the mountains, or the majesty of a lone oak tree. If you spent time with her, you would learn to enjoy the beauty of east Tennessee.

Private services were held Monday at Hyder Cemetery.

Denise Marie Kornacki Nolz

Denise Marie Kornacki Nolz, age 54, was born on October 26, 1964 to Dennis and Linda Kornacki in Lodi, OH. She passed away on August 17, 2019.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Nolz.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5 to 7 at Church of the Harvest, 5212 S. York Hwy Grimsley, TN. Funeral services for Denise will also be held on Friday following visitation with Terry Thompson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Melissa Kay Womack

Melissa Kay Womack, age 45, was born on June 5, 1974 to Bobby Jack Farley and Debra Mountz Hall in Chicago, IL. She passed away on August 18, 2019.

She is survived by her husband, James Womack; sons, Hayden Hefner and Jacob Womack; mother, Debra Hall; brother, Bobby Jack Farley, Jr.; sister, Bobbi Kapril.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jack Farley; and daughter, Kayla Hefner.

Dr. Richard Dwain Wright

Dr. Richard Dwain Wright, 87, of Signal Mountain, TN, passed peacefully into the Presence of his Saviour on Friday, August 16, 2019. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on February 19, 1932 to Ernest Russell and Lola (Hedge) Wright. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Harold, and Philip and his sister, Annabelle. He is survived by his brother, David Wright of Tucson, AZ, his wife, Carolyn (Dale) Wright, and his children and their families; Timothy Russell Wright of Chattanooga, TN, Patricia (Holly) Ausdran of Signal Mountain, TN, and Matthew Thomas Wright of Corfu, Greece .

Richard and Carolyn served as missionaries in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji for over 30 years before retiring to Tennessee to be near their children and grandchildren. He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN. Richard was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School, and later in life went on to earn a Doctorate of Religious Education from Palm Beach Baptist College and a Doctorate of Theology from the Florida Institute of Biblical Studies. He was a Korean War era veteran of the US Air Force. He pastored churches in Ft. Collins, CO and Fruita, CO before becoming a missionary to Australia. While in Australia he planted multiple churches and developed a 4-year university level curriculum to train pastors that was approved by the Australian Ministry of Education. This curriculum is still in use throughout the South Pacific preparing pastors for ministry in dozens of countries.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11 AM on Friday, August 23rd at Signal Mountain Bible Church 4872 Shackleford Ridge RD, Signal Mountain, TN. The memorial service will begin at 11 AM. Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1PM. Grant Harrison Bullock

Grant Harrison Bullock, age 16, was born on March 5, 2003 to Doug and Samantha Bullock in Crossville, TN. He passed away on August 17, 2019. Grant played football and soccer at Stone Memorial High School. He was active in the youth group at his church and enjoyed being outdoors.

He is survived by his parents; brother, Garrett Bullock; grandmothers, Deborah Sherrill and Roberta Bullock; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 5 to 8 at the Nazarene Church Family Life Center (2565 N. Main St. Crossville, TN). Funeral services for Grant will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2019 at 11 at the Nazarene Church Family Life Center with Rev. Greg Keller and Rev. Ryan McDermott officiating. He will be laid to rest in Green Acres Memory Garden.
