Garry Junior Murphy

Garry Junior Murphy, age 69, was born on April 30,1953 to John Bedford and Clara Mae Roberts Murphy in Monterey, TN and passed away on February 2, 2023 in Crossville, TN. When he was young, he worked for the City of Monterey, and his professions included being a grave digger for Goff Funeral Home, a mechanic, and working for the Monterey Hammer Mill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife- Dolly Pugh Murphy; children- Dustin Murphy (Taylor), Jesse Murphy (Angel), Daniel Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, Michael Carlton, and Mary Sheets; 17 grandchildren; siblings- Joyce Harvell (Jim), Lois Reynolds, and Jimmy Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children- Ashley Nicole Murphy and David Lee Murphy; siblings- Patricia Sisco, Shirley Hassler, Larry Murphy, Barbara Threet, Linda Murphy, Bobby Murphy and Donny Murphy.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the funeral home from 5 to 8. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 11:00 in Lovejoy Cemetery in Monterey, TN. Bro. Eugene McCowan will officiate.

Tammy Lisa Kemmer

Tammy Lisa Kemmer, age 58, was born on September 5, 1964 to Bill and Susie Brown in Crossville, TN and passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in Crossville.

Tammy was a hairdresser for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her two sons were her pride and joy. She loved attending her church, Cumberland Fellowship. She also loved going hiking and spending her time outdoors watching for her red birds.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents Norman B. and Savannah “Susie” (Hall) Brown; brother Danny Hall; sister Carolyn Wiggins; and mother-in-law Rose Kemmer.

She is survived by her husband Alan Kemmer; two sons Justin (Toni) and Josh Kemmer (Jade Adams); sisters Linda (Tom) Chilton, Judy Hall, and LouElla Houston; grandchildren Blakely, Oaklynn, and Kylie; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 11:00-1:00pm, with the service to follow at 1:00pm, Pastor Sam Tollett officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery immediately following the service.

Pallbearers include Ritchie Hall, Joey Brown, Tom Chilton, Khristian Hicks, Wayne Kemmer, and Dale Kemmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Price and Aric Seiber.

Louis Edgar Smith

Louis Smith, age 77, was born on April 26, 1945 to Willard and Reene Smith in Crossville, TN and passed away on January 30, 2023 in Jamestown, TN.

He was a top salesman for Goodyear for a number of years. And in later years, Louis owned a tow service and loved working on cars in his spare time.

He is survived by his brother Willard Cecil (Roxanne) Smith, Jr.; daughters Tina, Tammy, and Robin; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willard Cecil Smith and Reene (Meek) Smith; and his sister Doris O’Dell.

Services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12p-2p with the service to follow at 2pm, Pastor Ralph Reagan officiating. Burial will be in Crossville City Cemetery immediately following the service.

Willene Ruth (Watson) Hamby

Willene Ruth (Watson) Hamby, age 87, born May 21, 1935 to William Oscar Watson and Eliza Etta Watson, passed away on January 28, 2023 at her home in Crossville, TN.

Employed with Wal-Mart as an accounting clerk, she loved her work family and became a life long friend with Roy Howard.

Willene leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Vicky Ruth Beaty; 2 sons Steve (Debbie) Hamby and Ronnie (Carolyn) Hamby; grandchildren Jonathan, Nate (Danielle), and Tyler (Rachel); great granddaughter Amelia; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Oscar Watson and Eliza Etta (Hedgecoth) Watson; siblings Sara Linda Watson, Ollie Lou “Pat” Beaty, Billy Paul Watson, and Brenda Joyce Houston.

A Graveside service was held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Hedgecoth Cemetery.

Cheryl Marlene Pryor

Cheryl Marlene Pryor, age 64, was born on August 28, 1958 to Allard and Susie Green in Monterey, TN and passed away on January 24, 2023 in Crossville, TN.

Marlene enjoyed going to the beach, planting flowers, cooking, watching the hummingbirds, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Charles Pryor; daughter Rachel (Chris) Dalton; grandchildren Shelby and Jordan Dalton; great grandchild Liam Dalton; and siblings Mildred Pugh, Marcella Pugh, Martha Green, and Michelle Weaver.

She was preceded in death by her parents Allard and Susie (Baldwin) Green; brother Randy Green; father-in-law Leland Pryor; and mother-in-law Eva Pryor.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-2pm with the service to follow at 2pm, Mark Hall and Greg Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Woody cemetery immediately following the service.

Dennis Wyatt

Dennis Wyatt, age 63, was born on August 17, 1959 to Howard and Lela Wyatt in Crossville, TN and passed away on January 24, 2023 in Crossville, TN.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with the service to follow at 1:00pm, Pastor Mike Kerley officiating. Burial will be in Hyder Cemetery immediately following the service.

Mark Allen Sherrill

Mark Sherrill, age 58, was born on September 8, 1964 to Alvin and Betty Sherrill in Gardner, KS and passed away on January 23, 2023 in Cookeville, TN.

Mark was a mechanic who truly loved his work. He also enjoyed playing music and working with electronics.

He is survived by his siblings Sheila Beaty, Alving Sherrill, and Donna Hurst; nieces Tammy Beaty and Crystal Beaty; several great nephews and nieces; and dear friends Bobby and Greg.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin Sherrill and Betty (Redwine) Sherrill; and brother-in-law Tom Hurst.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm with the service to follow at 4:00pm.

Mary A. Miller

Mary Miller, age 85, was born on November 22, 1937 to Henry and Dolly Copeland in Hanging Limb, TN and passed away on January 22, 2023 in Crossville, TN.

Mary is survived by her children Stephanie, Melissa, and Paul Miller; grandchildren Ashley, Cody, Brittany, Isabella, and Dillon; and great grandchildren Cash, Haley, Zack, Mason, and Alexis.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Copeland and Dolly (Bilbrey) Copeland; husband O.P. Miller; and daughter Kathy Masters.

A Graveside service will be held at Woody Cemetery on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00pm, Gary Hargis officiating.

Charles “Chuck” Hudson Black

Charles “Chuck” Hudson Black took his first breath in Heaven on January 11, 2023at the age of 75. He was born in Orange, CA on December 25, 1947, to Charles Black and Phyllis Hudson Black.

Chuck grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. He served in the United States Army for 2 years, became a police officer for the Santa Ana Police Department, and then became an OSHA Compliance/Safety Consultant. In addition to his professional life, Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and great uncle.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Black and Phyllis Hudson Black.

He is survived by his wife, Tamie Black; children Staci (Dan) Maijala and Shawn (Vivian) Black; their mother Cheri Black; grandchildren Danica (Brandon) Leslie, Shannon, Caily, and Courtney Maijala, Mason Black, and Bree Ramirez; great granddaughter Ryan Leslie; in-laws Bill and Gwen Griffin; niece Jessica (Spencer) Bradley; their two children Orion and Logan Bradley; in addition to many close cousins and friends in and around California.

Services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Visitation will be held at 12:00pm with the service to follow at 12:30pm, Steve Salmond officiating.

Sammy Ray Pyles

Sammy Pyles, age 69, was born on August 29, 1953 to Woodrow and Verde Pyles in Crossville, TN and passed away on January 20, 2023 in Crossville.

Sammy was of the Christian faith and Baptist Denomination. He enjoyed building cabinets, watching racing, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Ball) Pyles; children Hannah Rae and William Samuel; grandson Thomas O’Neil; special nephew CJ Pyles; and nephew Steven Pyles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Robert and Verde Ellen (Harvey) Pyles; daughter Tina Pyles; and brothers James, Melvin, Bobby, Herbert, Roger, Tommy, Elmo, and Jackie Pyles.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2022 at Crossville City Cemetery beginning at 12:00pm, Wayne Matthews officiating.

Pallbearers include CJ Pyles, Robby Pyles, Roger Pyles, Stacy Pyles, Gerry Turner, Bobby Ball, and Mike Farr.
