Phyllis Ann Williamson

August 7, 1925 – August 21, 2017

Phyllis Wade Williamson, 92, of Fairfield Glade, TN passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Ivan Leon Williamson, daughters Cynthia Hill (Greenfield, IN) and Jill Williamson (San Antonio, TX), sisters Emma Lee Slagle (Muncie, IN) and Joyce Lange (West Lafayette, IN), and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was born in Cincinnati, OH and in her youth her family moved to Lebanon, IN where she graduated from Lebanon High School in 1944. She attended Indiana University and Ray-Vogue School in Chicago, studying fashion and design for which she exhibited a passion and talent. She was an excellent seamstress and tailor, the occupation she worked in after WWII in Indianapolis. In 1962, Phyllis, Leon, and the girls moved to Ft. Wayne, IN due to Leon’s transfer with GMAC. Another transfer in 1964 took the family to Indianapolis for the next 30 years. Phyllis and Leon retired to Fairfield Glade in 1994.

In Indianapolis, Phyllis was active in Tri-Kappa (philanthropic sorority), Antique Club, bridge, sewing and pattern design, and volunteering in the community. Phyllis took up golf upon moving to Tennessee. She was very devoted to her neighbors, friends, and family and was humbly unselfish with her time and talents toward everyone.

The family would like to express their sincere gratefulness for all of the wonderful kindnesses and compassion given Phyllis by the caretakers at the Life Care Center of Crossville, Wharton Nursing Home (Pleasant Hill, TN) and Camellia Healthcare.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Fairfield Glade Community Church. Interment will occur at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House of Cumberland County or the charity of your choice in memory of Phyllis.

Franklin Duane Crow

Franklin Duane Crow, age 64, of Crossville, TN, was born on April 25, 1953 in Lebanon, PA and passed away on August 13, 2017. Duane loved his dog Dixie and treated her like his child. He loved riding motorcycles, horses, and his John Deere tractor.

He is survived by his cousins and caregivers- Susan, Tiffany, Claude, and Steve; special friends- Harold, Bernie, Rick, and Christine; aunts- Nancy, Gweldia, Kitty, and Clara; uncles- Tom, Jim, and Charlie; and many other cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother- Naomi Ruth Akins and father- Donald R. Akins.

A graveside memorial service for Duane will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Akins Cemetery.

Lois Ann Maxwell

Lois Ann Maxwell, age 75, on April 16,1942 in Devonia, TN to Robert and Lillie Griffin and passed away on August 19, 2017 in Crossville, TN. She was a Lab Technician for Monticello Canning Co. She was a homemaker that loved her family and the grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed going to church, fishing and camping, working her garden and sitting on her porch.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Stanley Maxwell; son, Tim Maxwell (Charli); daughter, Teresa Stevens (Jody); grandchildren, Noelle, Angel, Jonathan, and Jimmy; great grandchildren, Mia, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ryan, J.D., Austin, Artey, Charlie, Magnolia, Sheesta, Lilly, and Alex.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Griffin and Lillie Mae Hood Griffin; sisters- Geraldine, Lorrine, Christine, Willadine, Camilla, and Violet Ann; and brothers- Walter, R.C., Richard, and Junior.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 5 to 7 with service to follow at 7. Bro. Herman Fox will officiate with Johnny Reeves reading the eulogy. Burial will be in Big Lick Cemetery on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10:00.

Freddie David Belvin

Freddie David Belvin, age 68, was born May 7, 1949 in Crossville, TN to William and Thelma Belvin and passed away August 17, 2017 in Rome, GA. He spent his life doing what he loved, truck driving, painting and all areas of the construction business. His main love was riding and training horses.

He is survived by his wife- Cheryl Belvin, brothers- Bill and Clifford Belvin, sister- Ava Loveday Neely, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents- William McKinley Belvin and Thelma Marie Ball Belvin, siblings- Marie Simmons, Glen Belvin, and Janie Neely.

A graveside service was held on August 20, 2017 at 2:00 in Bakers Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations toward his account at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Ann Janet Johnson

Ann Janet Johnson, age 76, was born on February 17, 1941 to Jonathan and Nancy Scott in Decatur, TN. She passed away on August 12, 2017. Ann loved to do needlepoint, sewing, and quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and canning.

She is survived by her son- Scott Ray and his wife Vickie; daughters- Terri Ray and Carolyn Johnson; grandchildren- Brittany Ray, Sierra Ray, and Heathe Ray; and sisters- Betty Wix and Lena Tate.

She is preceded in death by her husband- Benton Johnson; sons- Charles Ray and Marlon Ray; sister- Cora Lee McCulloch; and brothers- John Scott, James Scott, William Edward Scott, and Bob Scott.

Graveside services for Ann were held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Linary Cemetery.

Joseph Sydney Brown

Joseph Sydney Brown, age 89 was born on May 25, 1928 to Everett and Rebecca Brown in Pleasant Hill, TN. He passed away on August 15, 2017. Joseph enjoyed doing many things throughout his life, but most of all he loved preaching. He enjoyed singing and playing music. Joseph also enjoyed being outside gardening and was a mechanic of all things.

He is survived by his wife- Virgie Willetta Brown; children- Debra K. Hensley (Allen), Dwana J. Deck (Randy), and Joey L. Brown (Robin); grandchildren- Eric, Tammy, Jo, Heather, Hannah, Vanna, and James; great grandchildren- Kylee, Chloe, Jason, Emma, Alli, Amelia, Thaid, John, Daniel, Luther, Calvin, Pearl, and Knox; brothers- Earl Brown, John Brown, and Tony Brown; and sisters- Lola Brown, Nadean Randolph, Darlene Hayes, Faye Brown, and Connie Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Everett and Rebecca Brown; brothers- Carl Lester Brown and Charlie Brown; and sister- Della Mae Richardson.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Joseph will also be held on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. with Mike McCartney officiating. He will be laid to rest in New Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Reba Dean Lewis

Reba Dean Lewis, age 80, was born on August 1, 1937 to Wilburn and Alma Hall in Crossville, TN. She passed away on August 13, 2017.

She is survived by her husband- Sonnie B. Lewis, Jr.; daughters- Nancy Ruth Potter (Terry) and Melissa Faye Riley (Marty); grandchildren- Coty Allen Reynolds, Cassandra Reynolds, T.J. Potter, and Samantha Potter; great grandchildren- Madison Hampshire and Blakely Potter.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Wilburn and Alma Hall; brother- Merle Hall; and great aunt- Anna Ruth Dunlap.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Reba will also be held on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating. She will be laid to rest in Bolin Cemetery.

Mildred L. Smith

Mildred L. Smith, age 78, was born on March 24, 1939 in Cumberland County, TN to Arlis and Della Wyatt. She passed away on August 8, 2017. Mildred enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved being outside doing gardening and flowers.

She is survived by her son- Kenneth “Tank” Smith and his wife LeAnn; and grandchildren- Kevin Smith, Felicia Smith, and Cody Keith.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Arlis and Della Wyatt; husband- Marvin Smith; and two brothers- Howard Wyatt and Theodore Wyatt.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Mildred will be held on Friday, August 11th at 1 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Casey Oakes officiating. Mildred will be laid to rest in Akins Cemetery.

Allen Jackson Howard

Allen Jackson Howard, age 84, was born on April 22, 1933 in Lansing, TN to James and Luvernia Howard. He passed away on August 7, 2017. Allen served his country in the U.S. Army for 26 years. His favorite hobby was fishing.

He is survived by a large loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife- Emma Howard; five brothers; and three sisters.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 7. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery.

Genese Davis

Genese Davis, age 84, was born on September 17, 1932 to Frank and Lillie Blaylock in Cumberland County, Tennessee. She left this world August 7, 2017 peacefully in her sleep.

She is survived by her sons- Gregg Davis (Pam), Lynn Davis (Janice), and Stan Davis (Kathy); daughters- June Sherrill and Susie Dickenson (Clarence); 19 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers- Douglas Blaylock (Margaret) and Bill Blaylock; and sister- Kathy Vanmeter (Mitchell).

She is preceded in death by her parents- Frank and Lillie Blaylock; husband- Richard Davis; son- Garland Brown; daughter- Janetta James; grandson- Jason James; granddaughter- Lois Smallwood; three infant granddaughters; son-in-laws- Benjamin Norrod, Thomas Sherrill, and Newell James; daughter-in-law- Irene Davis; brother- Beryl S. Blaylock; and sister-in-law- Patricia Blaylock.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9th from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Genese will be held on Thursday, August 10th at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Kenny Alcorn officiating. Genese will be laid to rest in New Era Cemetery.
