Verna Hale

Verna Hale, age 94, was born on July 30, 1923 to William and Kitty Harris Bruce in Sequatchie Valley, TN and passed away January 20, 2018 in Crossville, TN. She enjoyed her family, gardening, and going to hootenannies.

She is survived by her son- Benny Hale (Carolyn); grandchildren- Tina Hale, Wendy Roysdon (Hubert), and Denny Hale (Heather); 10 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and a brother- Wilker Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Ron Hale, great grandchild- Kyler Roysdon, two brothers and five sisters.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 4 to 6 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held the following day at 12:00 in Big Lick Cemetery with Walter Tollett officiating.

Cassandra Jean Schrade

Cassandra Jean Schrade, “Sandy,” was born on June 22, 1951 in Cookeville, TN to the late James and Guida Anderson Ament. She passed away on January 18, 2018. Sandy is survived by her son- Tyler Schrade; and daughter- Breika Schrade.

A celebration of life for Sandy will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Howard Alan Brunvoll

Howard Alan Brunvoll, 78, the beloved husband of Arline Brunvoll and the wonderful loving father of Gary Brunvoll and Steven Brunvoll, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones in Crossville, TN.  He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arline Brunvoll of Crossville, TN; his sons, Gary Brunvoll and his wife Terri, of Chattanooga, TN and Steven Brunvoll and his wife Laurel, of Gaithersburg, MD; his grandchildren, Melissa Brunvoll, Ellie Brunvoll, Hallie Brunvoll, Joshua Brunvoll and Michael Brunvoll.

Born on August 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, Howard was the son of Olav and Helen Amanda (Bentsen) Brunvoll.  He completed his undergraduate studies at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and received a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.   Prior to retiring in Crossville, Howard and his wife Arline lived in Succasunna, NJ for 33 years, and worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal for the Department of the Army. 

He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included boating, golf, fishing and traveling.  He and his wife were members of Central Baptist Church in Crossville.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Crossville, TN.  Visitation will precede the service, starting at 12:30pm.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Central Baptist Church or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

William Zachary Erwin

William Zachary Erwin, age 79, was born on June 2, 1938 to Walter and Anna Erwin in Kingsport, TN and passed away January 6, 2018 in Crossville, TN. He was a Lieutenant in the Coast Guard and an inspector for Cincinnati Insurance. He loved RV traveling.

He is survived by his wife- Kathryn Rutherford Erwin; children- David Erwin, Linda Hamilton (Brent), Patty Bednarz (Jeremy), and Scott Jones (Molly); grandchildren- Jennell Higgins, Danielle Erwin, Lauren Ammons (Paul), and Casey Buchanan; and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Walter Zachary Erwin and Anna Clark Long Erwin; son- Michael Erwin; and grand daughter- Jaime.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Crossville Seventh-day Adventist Church 2335 West Ave. Crossville, TN. A memorial service will also be held following visitation at 1 with Pastor David Sitler officiating.

Edward Allen Lee Jr.

Edward Allen Lee Jr., age 74, was born on November 18, 1943 to Edward and Esther Lee in Danville, IL and passed away on January 6, 2018 in Crossville, TN. He was a truck driver who liked to fish, watch football and wrestling, but his family was the love of his life.

He is survived by his wife- Rita Lee and grandson- Joshua Lee; children- Richard Lee (Ann), Vernon Lee, Tim Lee (Wendy), Shelly Moore (Greg), and Heather Pugh (William); grandchildren- Jessica Moore, Victoria Lee, TJ Lee, Tyler Lee, David Lee, Alexia Lee, Cory Lee, Siawn Slaven, Meghan Slaven, Samantha Grant, Brad Lee, Joey Grant; great grandchildren- Braydon, Jase, and Dom; numerous other grandchildren and step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; brothers- Ronnie and Rick Wood; sister- Shelia Robinson; and half siblings- Jim Lee, Terry Lee, and Dorothea Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents- Edward Allen Lee and Esther Nicison Lee; children- Kathy Grant, John Lee and Larry Lee; and brother- Robert Lee.

Larry Dykes

Larry Dykes, 68 of Crossville, TN passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Crossville, TN, on November 19, 1949 to the late Boyd Dykes and late Lenice Dykes.  He was a retired scrap metal dealer and owner of Dykes Iron and Metal with brother David Dykes.  He was a Husband, Father, and Grandfather and loved his family and friends.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved watching sports.  He also enjoyed car restoration and working on the farm.  He was of Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by brother, Jackie Ray Dykes and son, Heath Dykes.

He is survived by Frances Dykes of Crossville; daughters, Valerie Beard (David) of Russellville, KY, Heather Joiner (Ryan) of Franklin, KY and Carmella Dykes of Nashville, TN; one son, Trent Dykes (Lindsay) of Crossville and one brother, David Dykes (Earlene) of Crossville; seven grandchildren, Graciann Beard, Grayson Beard, Bryton Dykes, Zori Stout, Hooper Stout, Skye Dykes and Heath Dykes.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 12 to 3 with funeral services to follow. Bro. Mike Ritzman will be officiating with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Special music will be provided by granddaughter, Graciann Beard.

Pallbearers are David Beard, Ryan Joiner, Brian Dykes, Darian Dykes, Trent Dykes and Justin Dykes

Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons, Grayson Beard, Bryton Dykes, Hooper Stout, and Heath Dykes.

Albert (Al) W. Williams

Albert (Al) W. Williams, 85, of Monterey has entered the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on January 4, 2018.

Al left this world peacefully, at home, surrounded by the love of his life-Angie, along with family and friends.

Al’s passing will be deeply felt by all who know and love him and especially at his home church Dripping Springs Independent Baptist Church of Monterey.

The family will receive family and friends on January 13, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Dripping Springs Baptist Church, 2684 Junior Camp Road, Monterey TN.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow at 3:00 pm.

During his nearly 20 years of service with the Putnam County Veterans Honor Guard Al paid tribute to 1,964 veterans who have gone on before him.  As one of their own, the Honor Guard will now pay tribute to him during his Celebration of Life gathering.

AG Taylor

AG Taylor, 85, Of Crossville, TN, formerly of North Ridgeville, OH passed away Sunday, December 31st, 2017 peacefully at home, following a brief illness. He was born January 16th, 1932 in Monroe, TN.

AG worked as a Construction Foreman for Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc. in North Ridgeville, OH for 45 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and NASCAR racing.

Survivors include sons, Michael Taylor (Jeanie) (CO), Kenneth Taylor (OH), Steve Taylor (Kathryn) (VA), Bob Taylor (OH), Gary Taylor (OH) and Greg Taylor (OH); daughters, Phyllis Whitt (Crossville), Sandra Diederich (Jim) (SC), Pamela Kennedy (WV) and Margie Hicks (Mike) (Crossville). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his mother Margie Taylor, AG was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Hassler Taylor. Aunts and uncles Osville Taylor, Odus Taylor and Nelson Taylor, Nora Carter, Auda Newberry, Ethel Rindley and LV Johnson. Grandsons, Ashley Taylor and Jake Copeland.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 6, 2018 12 to 2 P.M., with funeral at 2:00, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and burial will be at Big Lick Cemetery.

Don L. Walker

Don L. Walker, age 83, was born on May 14, 1934 to Charles and Inez Walker in Indiana and passed away on December 31, 2017 in Cookeville, TN. He was an electrician and enjoyed going to church and teaching Sunday School. He was a farmer and loved to raise cattle.

Don is survived by his wife- Lou Ann Walker; sons- Rick Walker (Vickie) and Ken Walker (Carla); daughter- Donna Walker Bristow; grandchildren- Tony Walker, Mike and Tim Clabough, Brandon and Lauren Bristow, Hannah Walker, Alexandra Fitzgerald, and Jordan Parham; several great grandchildren; and step-children- Donna Robertson, Roger Parham and Gary Parham.

He was preceded in death by his parents- Charles Frederick Walker and Inez Shields Walker; and sister- Pat Walker.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7. The funeral service will be at Bethlehem Baptist on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 1:00. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

Eulenia Marie Campbell

Eulenia Marie Campbell, age 67, was born on July 24, 1950 to Arthur and Georgia Barnwell in Crossville, TN and passed away on December 30, 2017 in Crossville, TN. She enjoyed working in the sewing factories, but was first and foremost a family oriented lady. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, but when spending time with herself, she enjoyed playing solitaire and doing some online shopping.

Eulenia is survived by her husband- James Campbell; son- Curtis Campbell(Penny); daughter- Ashley Campbell (Chris Franklin); grandchildren- Samantha Collins, Megan Campbell, Asa Kemmer, Tonya Campbell, Amanda Campbell, and Curtis Campbell Jr.; brothers- Irvin and Floyd Barnwell; and sisters- Debbie Myers and Bertha Benson.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Arthur Lewis Barnwell and Georgia D. Pippins Barnwell and sons- Alvin Dale and Earl Lewis Campbell.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 1:00 in Big Lick Cemetery.
