Selma Phyllis Sevier Bowman

        Memorial service for Selma Phyllis Sevier Bowman, 89, of Crossville, will be held on Monday, December 16, 5:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3075 Miller Avenue, Crossville, TN. She passed away early Thursday, December 5, 2019.
Phyllis was born August 9, 1930 in Livingston, TN, (Overton County) to the late Washington Lafayette Sevier and Eliza Margaret Morrow.
         Survivors include her four children: Michael (Patricia) Staggs of Crossville, Eddie (JoAnn) Staggs of Spring City, JoAnn (Michael) Ramsey of Crossville, Kaye Barnett of Crossville, and one sister, Lois Sevier Holland of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Grandchildren surviving her were Michael Staggs, Jr., Melissa Patrick (Jeff), Chelsey Rose Woody (Randy), Clint Rose (Leslie), Stacy Staggs (Cheryl), Keith Staggs, Bradley Staggs (Demetria), Tracy Staggs Wheeler, Rodney Staggs, Heather Staggs Rhea (David), Jason Staggs, Mahala Barnett Bovee (Nick), Callan Ramsey Lamoreaux (Lane), Carrie Ramsey Bradshaw (Josh), and Connory Ramsey Williams (Isaac), plus twenty-six great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
        Phyllis was preceded in death by grandsons, Jackie Staggs and Gregory Staggs, son-in-law, Joel Barnett, her son, Freddie Staggs, brothers, Odell, Pete, Arvel, John and Frank Sevier, and her husband, G.D. Bowman.
        Phyllis was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than forty-four years and was active in the public ministry until she was unable to participate due to health reasons. She enjoyed Jehovah God’s creations, especially her flower gardens and birds, and spending time with her family.

Priscilla A. Wells

Priscilla Ann Wells, age 83, was born on May 2, 1936 to Dell and Maude Morgan Lewis in Crossville, TN and passed away on November 30, 2019 in Crossville, TN.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 12 to 2 with a service to follow. Ralph Reagan will officiate with burial in Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home on her behalf.

Ronald E. Kerley

Ronald Eugene Kerley, age 78, of Crossville, passed away on November 28th. He is preceded in death by his father, George Paul Kerley; mother, Mary Pauline Lowe Kerley and brother Donnie Kerley. Ronald is survived by his wife, Mavis Lewis Kerley; son, Jeff Kerley (Sharon); daughter Angie Kerley Brunswick; daughter, Lisa Kerley Perry (Mike) and grandchildren, Travis Hall, Jordan Kerley, Christian Kerley and Kiley Perry.

The family will have a Graveside Service on Sunday, December 1st at 2:00pm at Big Lick Cemetery with Mike Kerley officiating.

Vanessa Lynn Brady

Vanessa Lynn Brady, age 49, was born to Oscar and Imogene Martin Rainwater on January 15, 1970 in Crossville, TN and passed away on November 20, 2019 in Crossville, TN. She was a office manager and bookkeeper most of her life. She enjoyed crafting, interior decorating, and all things Christmas. She loved being in the sun, gardening, in her flowerbeds, and going to the beach.

Vanessa is survived by her husband- David Brady, daughter- Torey LaMontagne, her dogs- Jude and Gismo, her granddog- Murphy, siblings- Gail Byrge, Berta Naugle and Scotty Rainwater, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 23, 2019, from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and her service will be on Sunday, the 24th, at 1:00 with Vern Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

 

Betty Jane Granger

Betty Jane Granger, age 75, was born to Walter George Gardner and Bertha Mae McCormick Gardner on December 14, 1943 in Garden CIty, MI and passed away on November 15, 2019 in Crossville TN.

Her profession was not only as an Avon Representative, Sales Lady, and friend, but she often led her district while becoming a top sales Associate for many years in the state of Michigan. Although she loved watching movies,creating ceramic pieces, and doing word search puzzles, her deepest passion was wanting her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and strangers to succeed through their brokenness in life with a joke on their lips and love in their hearts. She excelled in love and everyone was honored to know her.

She is survived by her siblings- Linda Moore and Timothy Gardner; children- Robert Joseph Dodson (Debra Hren) and Shelby Jean Dodson; grandchildren- Jacob Granger, Alyssa Granger and Angela Granger; great grandchild- Kinkin; grand dogs- Fayeh Dodson and George Dodson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bertha Gardner, and siblings- Shelby Jean Gardner, and by Dennis Gardner, Jonathon Allen Gardner, Danny Gardner, and Walter George Gardner Jr.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23 from 12:00-1:00 with a celebration of life at 1:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Gladys Pauline Neal

Gladys Pauline Neal, age 85, was born to Ole Hollis and Eunice Marie Caldwell Bishop on December 30, 1933 in Morgan Co. TN and passed away on November 18, 2019 in Crossville, TN.

She was a nurse at Life Care when it was on Wayne Ave. for 38 years. She enjoyed fishing , shopping and sewing. She loved gardening and hanging out with her daughter and even had one this year, canning and putting food up for the winter. Gladys enjoyed travelling and gambling and requested her ashes to be scattered between Cherokee and Tunica, her favorite gambling places.

She is survived by her children- David Brady (Vanessa), Donna Brady, Diane and Lonnie, Dale Brady and Danny Brady; four grandchildren- Eric (Kasi), Michelle (Landren), Christie and Torey; great grandchildren- Brylee and Harper; and siblings- Chester Bishop and Jeanette Hall. She is also survived by her ca,t Tigger, and the love of her life, Jerry.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister- Marilyn West.

A memorial will be held at a later date.

 

Raymond Lee Singer

Raymond Lee Singer, 77,  of Crossville,  Tennessee found his name in The Lamb’s Book Of Life on November 14, 2019.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Nellie Singer, daughter Tiffany Singer, sons Christopher Singer, Scott Singer and family, Michael Singer and family, Terry Greene and family, brother James R. Singer, grandchildren Alexis, Braxton, Devon, Dalton, David, Caleb, Shay, Olivia, mother-in-law Georgia Worley Hammons, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Ray was a loving husband, dad, pap, and a friend to everyone.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Rosa and Hobert Singer, brothers William Singer, Buford Singer, Harold Singer, Boxley Singer, Owen Singer, sisters Jessie Eades, Martha Eversole, Mable Weaver, son John Singer, niece Agnes Bowling, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ray loved spending time with family. He retired from Manchester Tank as a Tool and Die Operator. He enjoyed watching baseball and was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He rooted for The University of Kentucky basketball and football teams. He loved to fish for crappie and to watch westerns. He took pride in his household chores such as mowing and weed eating his yard. He was born in Richmond, Kentucky were he learned to raise and hang tobacco. He had worked at Mokry-Tesmer in Middletown, Ohio and also for the City of Miamisburg, Ohio. Ray was a great provider for his family and often helped people in need.
A special thank you to all the staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for their loving care and support during his brief stay. Also the family would like to give their sincerest gratitude to Crossville Memorial Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Visitation will start at 5:30 pm with the Celebration of Life Service starting at 7:00 pm November 16, 2019 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.

Herbert Laine Derrick

Herbert Laine Derrick, age 54, was born on June 17, 1965 to  in Elyria, OH Herbert Lee and Menunell Tollett Derrick and passed away on November 11, 2019. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his children- Charles, Savannah, Stephen, and Christopher Derrick; grandchildren- Neveah Derrick and Weston Melton; siblings- Donna Kirkland, Sarah Derrick, Charles Derrick (Jennifer) and Billy Derrick (Rhonda).

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother- Bobby Derrick.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 4 with a memorial service at 4 on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Andrew (Hank) Michael Bartos Jr.

Andrew (Hank) Bartos, 88 years old of Fairfield Glade, TN passed away peacefully on November 7th after battling a long debilitating disease and is now with our Lord.

Hank was born in Czechoslovakia on November 28th, 1930 and came to the United States in 1937. Living in Youngstown, Ohio he was a trumpet player in the Ursuline High School band and played in a small band as trumpet player and singer. He started working in the Aluminum business after serving in the Army. Then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he had a successful career at Aluminum Extruded Shapes and served as Vice President of Operations for 35 years.

Hank retired in 2001 and moved to Fairfield Glade where he was an avid tennis player, winning many trophies and medals, loved golf, pickleball, and bridge that he played regularly. But first and foremost in his life was his faith and loving Jesus. Mr. Hank was called the “Gummy Man” because he always had a pocket full of gummy packs that he gave to the children at church. He taught Sunday School and TeamKids touching the lives of so many children. That was his passion- helping kids.

Hank is survived by his wife Marilyne, sisters Maryann Jurcisin (Jerry), and Dorothy Hanlon. In addition to his children and step children Andrea Bartos-Atkinson (Chuck), Andrew Bartos III (Shari), Sidney Bartos (Lisa), Samantha Bartos, Mark Brewer (Sue), Chris Larkins, Scott Brewer, Susan Welsh, he also had 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Hank is preceded in death by his mother Anna, father Andrew and brothers Joe and John.

Hank touched the lives of so many with his kindness and generosity. He truly loved life and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The celebration of his life will be held at Fairfield First Baptist Church in Fairfield Glade, TN. The visitation will be Saturday November 16th from 10:00a to 11:00a. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church, Samaritan’s Purse or the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade.

Wayne Robert Shultis

Wayne Robert Shultis, age 74, was born on April 14, 1945 to the late Irving and Florence Van Etton Shultis in Bradenton, FL and passed away on November 5, 2019 in Nashville, TN.He was a contractor in both commercial and residential building.

He is survived by his wife- Elizabeth Maier Shultis; children- Lisa Cring (Robert), Gina Seitz (Robert) and Heidi Barnwell; grandchildren- Jennifer, Andrew, Erica, Jonathan, Natosha, Courtney, Zachary; great grandchildren- Brooklyn, Parker, Landry, Max, Remington, Kensington, Lily, Malory, and Allie.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial at 1:00 on November 17, 2019 with service to follow at 2. Mark Hall will officiate.
