Naomi Parsons

Nelma Naomi Parsons, age 91, passed away on April 10th 2017 at Hospice of Dayton.  She was born on March 28 1926 in Tennessee, the daughter of Scott and Ader Threet.  She was preceded in death by her parents and several of her brothers and sisters, and son Eddie Parsons. She is survived by one brother and three sisters, son Mike Parsons of Crossville Tennessee and daughter Patricia Carey of Xenia Ohio, Granddaughter Jennifer Phipps of Kettering Ohio, Jessica Carey of Xenia, Ohio, great grandsons, Benjamin Phipps, Dylan Phipps and Grant Phipps all of Kettering Ohio.  Visitation and funeral services will be Friday April 14. Visitation opens at 11.  Service follows visitation.  Burial will be at city cemetery.

Mary R. Hall

Mary Hall of Crossville, Tenn. was born on Nov. 7, 1943 to the late Norman and Hattie Jones. She passed away on April 11, 2017 in Crossville, TN.
Mary attended Creston Pentacostal Church. She enjoyed working in the church and helping others. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She also loved to cook big dinners and have them come to eat. She enjoyed her life and family. She had five children, Esther R. Toepfer, David L. Aytes, Allen Aytes, John Aytes and Arron Aytes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles T. Hall, sons Allen Aytes, John Aytes and Arron Aytes.
Her family will receive friends at Creston Pentacostal Church on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 with service to follow. Burial will be in the Creston Cemetery.

John H Eldridge

John H. Eldridge of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, at the age of 87, on April 5, 2017 after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

John was born on December 1, 1929 in Overton County, Tennessee to Lester and Gertrude Eldridge. He was raised with seven brothers and five sisters.

John married his childhood sweetheart, Oma Lee Cole, on July 15, 1949. They have been married for almost 68 years. Together they raised four children: Doyle, David, John Jr., and Diane. John was very proud of his family and loved spending time playing and laughing with him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bob, Ed, Paul, Howard and Hugh Eldridge, sisters, Elna Eldridge and Wilkie Cole, son, Doyle, and grandson, Barton.

He is survived by his wife, Oma, daughter-in-law, Sarah Eldridge, children: David Eldridge, John and Mickey Eldridge, Diane and Jim Cameron, grandsons: Braxton, Adam (Jessica), Ryan (Renee), John III (Natasha), Brad (Leslie), and Kyle Eldridge, granddaughters: Christa Widener, Jessica and Emily Cameron, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers; Bill and Mitch Eldridge, sisters: Lois White, Moe Randol, Glinda Clouse, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens with Pastor David Wilkerson officiating. Freda Tollett

Freda Joyce Tollett, age 79, was born in Crossville, TN on August 14, 1937 to Wilker and Kanza Garrett Sullivan and passed away on March 31, 2017. She was a devoted housewife survived by a husband- Fred “John” Tollett; son- Danny Tollett; daughter- Rebecca Bowles (Mike); grandchildren- Daniel, James, Desiree, and Jonny Tollett; six and half great grandchildren; brother- Junior Sullivan (Joanie); and sister- Irene Tollett (Herb). She is preceded in death by her mother- Kanza Evans (Milburn); father- Wilker Sullivan; and sister- Geneva Clark.

The family received friends on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 1 to 3 with a service following at 3. Thom and Don Hassler officiated with burial in Big Lick Cemetery.

Micki Lee English

English, Micki Lee
Of Oahu, HI former resident of Crossville, TN. On March 23rd, at age 50, Micki was tragically taken from her family far too soon. She brightened the lives of everyone who had the unique privilege of meeting her and brought joy and laughter to the lucky ones who truly got to know her. Micki lived her life with passion and treated everyone with kindness. She was a genuine free spirit, the type seldom seen and often misunderstood. She loved her family and close friends dearly and had recently been baptized in Hawaii.
She graduated Cumberland County High School Class of ’85 (the class that ROCKS!!) and became a Master Barber who eagerly shared her love for hair design anywhere she went. Micki will be lovingly remembered and missed by her surviving family; son, Anthony English Gustin, Crossville, TN; twin sister Vicki English, San Diego, CA; sister Linda Horner, Kansas City, MO and cousins in Kansas City and Crossville.
She was preceded by her parents James English and Flossie Lee English and brother Perry Pendergrass.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, April 2nd at 2 pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with a Celebration of Micki’s Life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a contribution to NAMI, a non-profit organization involved in research and treatment of bi-polar disorder.

William Gregg

William “Bill” Gregg of Crossville, TN passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017. Bill was born September 8, 1938 in Genoa, Ohio to Eric and Alberta Gregg.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter- Lisa (Tom) Young of Wesley Chapel, FL, son- Guy E. Gregg of Swanton, OH, wife- Cindy Sneed Gregg, step-daughter- Angela (James) Yeager, step-daughter- Amanda (Tom) Goodman, 2 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, parent-in-laws- Edgar & Clara Sneed, many more extended family & friends, and his fur baby, Abbie.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother- Roger, sister- Muriel and his first wife of 35 years- Sandra Spade Gregg.
No services are planned; however, many thanks are extended to the staff at Hospice of Cumberland County for their acts of kindness throughout Bill’s final journey.

Eva Loudean Petty

Eva Loudean Petty, age 98, was born November 16, 2017 Davison, Tn in Overton Co. to the late John and Susie Ashburn Roberson and passed away on March 26, 2017 in Crossville, TN. She married the late Willie (Bill) Petty on March 13, 1937 and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and going to church. She loved most to spend time with all her grandchildren.

She is survived by children- Shirley Dayton and Gail Findley-Bow; grandchildren- Steve Cross, Pam Dodson, Melissa Brzys, and Micheal Petty; great grandchildren- Angie, Tim, Thomas, Lyndsay, Brandon, Devin, Lauren, Brittany, and Myriah; great great grandchildren- Trevor, Sadie, Jayden, and Madi; and siblings- Marson Roberson and Dimple Dopke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, children- Ronnie, Susan, and Roger; grandchild- Lisa Miller Ridner; great grandchildren- Derek Brzys and Zachary Rogers; and siblings- Fred, Odis, Thelma, Mable, Kerbit, Lela, Theron, and Flay.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 11 to 2 with service to follow. Bro. Johnny Goldston will officiate with burial to follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry and Richard Bowman, Thomas Neal, Billy Dodson, Trevor Martin, Jason Smith, and Mark Brzys.

Tara Ann Caruthers-Richards

Tara Ann Caruthers-Richards was born on November 15, 1973 and was called Home on March 26, 2017. Tara was at home and surrounded by her loved ones. She was a graduate of Cumberland County High School, Class of 1992. She was also a college graduate with her Medical Laboratory Technologist Degree and was employed at Tennova Medical Center of Turkey Creek in Knoxville, TN. Tara was a hard working wife, loving mother and the best daughter any one could ask for. She leaves behind so many loved family members and friends. Tara was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Earl and Anna Marie Dodson, and paternal grandparents, Lawerence R. Caruthers and Annie W. Garrison Caruthers. Tara is survived by her mother- Peggy Payne(Jerry), father- Joe Caruthers (Linda Cardona-Caruthers),  her husband- Jerry Richards and two children, Emily and Travis Richards.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 4 to 6 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating. Burial will be in Crossville City Cemetery Wednesday at 10:00.

Steven Bruce Johnson

Steven Bruce Johnson, age 44, of Crossville passed away on March 22, 2017. He was born on December 20, 1972 to Ronnie Johnson and Patricia Campbell Johnson Floyd. He is survived by daughter- Carrie Johnson of Crossville, TN; son- Zachary Johnson of Soddy Daisy, TN; and mother- Patricia Floyd and brother- Aaron Johnson both of Crossville, TN.

He is preceded in death by his father-Ronnie Johnson; grandparents- Boston and Myrtle Johnson and Elmo and Jean Campbell.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hedgecoth Cemetery officiated by David Moss. Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Elizabeth “Lib” Manning

Laura Elizabeth “Lib” Manning, age 78, of Crossville Tennessee passed away on March 20, 2017. Her family says, “Goodbye” to a woman of many titles; Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, and friend.

Lib is survived by: Son- Darrell Manning, Daughters- Diane Manning, Donna Parsons, Della Siwka, Brothers- Waymon Sherrill and David Sherrill, Sisters- Mary Lou Rector, Martha Reagan, Muriel Vanetta, and Margarett Hayward, 10 Grandchidren and 14 Great Children.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vance & Lillie Sherrill

Her arrangements were a Graveside Service in the Linary Cemetery March 23, 2017 at 12:00p and were held by Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.
