Cy Johnson

Cy Johnson, age 67, was born on January 26, 1950 in Akron, Ohio and passed away on May 30, 2017. In his spare time, Cy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and dirt track racing. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren whenever he could.

He is survived by his wife- Linda Johnson; son- Buddy Johnson; daughters- Cindy Lowe (Duke) and Judy Johnson; grandchildren- Kealey Lowe, Jesse Lowe, Jesse Renee Lawson, Dakota Lawson, and Harley Walker; and great grandchild- Haylee Beaty.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Cy will also be held on Thursday following visitation at 2:00 with Mike Reagan officiating. Cy will be laid to rest in Pugh Cemetery in Crossville, Tennessee.

James Alonzo Shillings

James Alonzo Shillings, age 91, of Orlando, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born February 13, 1926, in Crossville, Tennessee. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Zerbo of Kew Gardens, NY, and Darlene Crisler of Orlando, FL; sisters, Lou Ann Walker and Martha Sue Wyatt, both of Crossville, TN; three grandchildren, John, Diana and William Riley and 1 great-grandchild, Lena Riley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Paul and; brothers, David and Billy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 11:00 AM to Noon at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with interment to immediately follow at Crossville City Cemetery, Crossville, TN.

Terry Lynn Campbell

Terry Lynn Campbell, age 49, was born on June 30, 1967 to the late Henry Lee Campbell and Etta Marie (Wyatt) Piercy in Crossville, Tennessee. He passed away on May 16, 2017. In his spare time, Terry loved to go fishing and squirrel hunting. He also enjoyed watching football and most of all, spending time with his children.

He is survived by his children- Teora and Cody; brothers- Glenn Campbell (Karen), John Campbell (Charlotte), and Jerry Piercy (Lisa); and sisters- Linda Reagan (Thomas) and Henrietta Kerley (Ernest).

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister- Teresa Campbell Barnes.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A service for Terry will also be held on Sunday following visitation with Mike Ritzman officiating.

Franklin D Hargis

Franklin D Hargis, age 58, was born on July 26, 1958 to Franklin and Opal Hargis in Crossville, TN and passed away in his home in Grimsley, TN on May 18, 2017. He was a mechanic who enjoyed his job working on semi trucks.

He was a loving family man survived by his wife- Lisa Hargis; parents- Franklin D Hargis and Opal Helen York Hargis; daughter- Nicole Cravens; grandchildren- Nolan and Hank; brothers- Barry, Ritchie and Joel Hargis; and sisters- Linda Stevens, Wanda Abblett and Vickie England.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 on Friday, May 19, 2017 with service on Saturday at 2:00 pm. he will be laid to rest in Springs Chapel at Banner Springs. Bro. Mike McCoy will officiate.

 

Arvil Earl Lee

Arvil Earl Lee, age 76, was born on November 3, 1940 in Crossville, TN to the late William and Celia (Hughes) Lee. He passed away on May 15, 2017.

He is survived by sons- Keith Lee (Connie), Brett Lee (Valerie), and Dewey Lee (Sandi); daughters- Sonya Smith and Stacey Swafford; grandchildren- Courtney, Brittney, Tina, Shawna, Lindsey, Jessica, Nathan, Randy, David, Amber, and Thomas; great grandchildren- Haley, Kelsi, Toliver, Nolan, Tavanah, Marilyn, Lydia, Lillian, Elizabeth, and Devin; and brother- Thomas Lee (Wilma).

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife- Anna Golliher Lee; and sister- Joyce Kidwell.

Dean “Dino” Allen Waters

Dean Allen Waters, “Dino,” age 50, was born on February 18, 1967 to the late Tommy and Shirley (Nobel) Waters. He passed away on May 7, 2017. Dino loved getting out and riding his Harley. He spent his time simply enjoying life.

He is survived by his sisters- Penny Butler (Mike), Patsy Neely (Boyd), and B.J. Waters; and 3 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service for Dino will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. also at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Thomas Springs Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” Clark

Robert Eugene Clark “Bob”, age 73, was born March 25, 1944 to Russell and Virginia Clark in Orange, TX and passed away in Crossville, TN on May 7, 2017. He has owned Slender You for more than 30 years, raced cars for 20+ years and Nascar for two. Bob also enjoyed hunting, watching western movies, and took great pride in his nieces and nephews. He was loved by numerous friends and family across the United States and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife- Dianne Clark; daughter- Kay Lynn; grandchildren- Trent, Tyler, Lindsey, Ali and Mary; great grandchildren- Tyler Jr., Olivia and Lucy; and brother- Jack Clark.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Russell V. Clark and Virginia Hermansen Clark; son- Richie Clark; and brother- Bill Clark.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 2 to 4:00 with service to follow at 4.

Shirley Jean Saltkill

Shirley Saltkill, age 74, was born in Crossville, TN to the late Asa Lee Smith and Bessie Louella Whittenburg Smith on December 10, 1942 and passed away on May 8, 2017 in Clinton, TN. She was a loving wife and mother, but loved her grandchildren more than anything. She was a member of Crossville Nazarene Church and enjoyed every chance she got to participate in church functions.

Shirley is survived by sons- Kevin Saltkill (Heather) and Keith Saltkill; grandchildren- Austin and Alex; and half sisters- Bobbie Bishop and Arlene Woods. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Dale Saltkill; and half brother- Arlos Dawson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 11 to 1 with service to follow. Her son, Keith Saltkill will officiate and burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to pay for expenses.

Bernice Tanner

Bernice Tanner, age 75, was born in Cairo, Illinois to the late Edgar and Dolly (Stienmetz) Burton. She passed away on May 4, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter- Sherry Ford; brothers- Louie Burton, Sam Burton, and Edgar Burton; and sister- Beatrice Meads.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband- Teddy Tanner; and son- Bobby Joe Tanner.

A graveside service for Bernice will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 1:00 p.m. at Mayland Cemetery with Jared Burgess officiating.

Anna Laura (Brown) Dietz

Anna Laura (Brown) Dietz age 88, passed peacefully away on April 17, 2017, in a local health care facility.

She was born May 15, 1928 in Monterey, Tennessee, the youngest daughter of the late Charles Lee Brown and Annie Randolph Brown.

Anna was a devoted mother, homemaker and worked in retail sales in the Cookeville area for over 50 years.  She was preceded in death by her late husband of 67 years, Shelah Paul Dietz.  She was the last surviving sibling of five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Wayne (Stacey) Dietz of Cookeville, and Stephen Paul Dietz of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Sean Dietz, Jordan Dietz and Taylor Dietz all of Knoxville, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Cookeville City Cemetery with Brother Carl Scarlett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scott Ave Baptist Church 253 Scott Ave. Cookeville, Tennessee 38501 in Anna’s name.
