George Joseph Kessler

George Joseph Kessler, age 74, was born on September 23, 1942 to the late Albert and Mary Kessler in Hawthorne, California. He passed away on July 13, 2017. George was a skilled mechanic who could work on anything he got his hands on.

He is survived by his wife- Genita Kessler; sons- George Joseph Kessler, Jr. (Carol), Joseph Albert Kessler (Cindy); daughter- Georgeann Houston (Russell); grandchildren- George, Carl, Joe, Clarissa, Tim, Becky, Helen, Tina, Keith, and Leah; 12 great grandchildren; brothers- James Kessler and James Walton; and sister- Maryann Cuthbert.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Albert and Mary.

Family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Walter Ray Hill

Walt was born in 1937 in NC. He passed away on July 13, 2017, at Cumberland House, Crossville, TN, of pulmonary fibrosis at age 80. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and brother-in-law, Ronald T. Besecker. He is survived by his wife of 33 yrs., Carol B. Hill of Fairfield Glade, daughter Lisa Hill and granddaughter, Brittany R. Hill, Covington, GA; step-son Jeff Johnston (Connie), Nashville; step-daughters Jill Cantrell, Gainesville, GA, and Jennifer Mackie (Jeff) of Hillsdale, MI; 7 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Keith Besecker (Karen), Arcanum, OH, and Ted Besecker (Jane), Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law Diana Besecker, Miami, FL; adopted brother-in-law Manuel Gonzalez, Atlanta; adopted cousins Bob, Gloria, Craig, Patti, and Mark Floros of FFG; nieces, nephews, and cousins in NC; wonderful friends: Dick and Becky Smith and Bill and Roberta Wascher, FFG; Bob and Betty Smith, Columbus, OH; Tom and Fran Jasunas, Crossville, and many others who are very much appreciated.

Walt was graduated from Kenly H.S. in NC, then joined the Air Force for 4 yrs. including duty in France. He attended Piedmont College, Georgia State, and Roanoke College. He worked at General Motors in NC briefly, then Norfolk Southern Railway in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Roanoke as an accountant for 24 years, retiring in 1993 to play golf and tennis in FL. He moved to FFG in 2008 and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Memorial service will be at Westminster Church, 114 Stonehenge Dr., FFG, at 2 p.m. on Sat., July 15, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations to Westminster Food Basket program would be appreciated. His ashes will be interred at Abbotsville Cemetery, Arcanum, OH, at a later date.

Armour Verchal Mellard, Jr.

Armour Verchal Mellard, Jr., was born November 25, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and departed his earthly body July 8, 2017. He was the son of Armour Verchal and Marye Kritzer Mellard.

He attended Tuloso Midway High School in Corpus Christ where he excelled with sports in track and football. After graduating from high school in 1959, he went to Schreiner Institute at Kerville, Texas, studying engineering.
While in high school, he met the love of his life, Sharon. After college and years later, the two sweethearts reconnected and married in 1993.
His first career employment was in banking, then a partner with Clemtex in Corpus Christi, before pursuing a career in real estate in Corpus Christi and Nashville, as well as with Pioneer Realty and Berkshire Hathaway in Crossville, Tennessee.
He served in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972 during the Vietnam War, and earned the distinction of sharpshooter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Cecil Martin Mellard, and stepson, Frank Randall Wallace.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Hull Mellard; stepdaughter, Stephanie Wallace Brasfield and husband Michael Paul; stepson, Paul Vincent Wallace, III and husband Mark VanSickle; sister, Geneva Kathryn Valdez and husband John; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Mellard; sister-in-law Susan Hull Bozeman and husband Gordon; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed antique cars, having restored a couple throughout the years. He was very spiritual and an admirable role model for his family. He was a passionate home renovator. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church on Westchester Drive in Crossville, Tennessee, with Reverends Jay Archer and Moses Han, officiating.
Donations may be made to the Fairfield Glade Methodist Church in his memory.

Delene Frances Givens

Delene Frances Givens, age 74, was born on October 3, 1942 in Kirkland, Washington to Delmer and Arlene Smith. She passed away on July 6, 2017. Delene loved sitting down to read a good book. She also enjoyed spending time outside in her garden.

She is survived by her sons- Brian Brown (Lavonda) and Brant Brown (Scarlet); daughters- Cassandra Givens (Erica Richards) and Shelley Marshall (Steve); grandchildren- Jessica, Chris, Michael, Branson, Amber, and Stevey; great grandchildren- Luna-Rae and Mickinley; and special friend- Nancy Belcourt.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother- Rodney Smith.

Family will receive friends on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Robert Phillips Price

Robert Phillips Price, age 83, was born on February 4, 1934 in Star City, West Virginia to the late Charles and Anna Price. He passed away on June 28, 2017.

He is survived by his wife- Lenora M. Price; sons- Robert P. Price, Mark C. Price, and Craig P. Price; grandchildren- Savannah Price, Carly Price, Nicholas Price, Brooke Price,  Brendan Price, Madalyn Price, and Devin Baker; and great grandson- Cayden Price.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Charles and Anna; three brothers- Bill, Chuck, and John; and sister- Kathleen.

A memorial service for Robert will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Raymond Lee France

Raymond Lee France, 86, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by wife- Mary Jean Clair Ponselet; parents- Ralph and Oleta France, brothers- Bill and Wayne France, and sisters- Dorothy Tucker and Barbara Nellums.

He is survived by wife- Pat France, son- Steven (Jamie) France, grandchildren- Craig (Sarah) France and Maggie (Josh) Waggener, great grandson- Ralph Waggener, brother- Donald France, and sisters- Emily Cates and Phyllis Berlin.

Mr. France was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force with Vietnam tours and later in recruiting. He was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and golf. He was an avid gardener and shared with all.

Visitation will be held on July 5, 2017, Wednesday, at St. Alphonsus Church from 9:00 to 10:00 with a funeral to follow. A family burial will be in Axley’s Chapel Cemetery in Greenback, TN.

Billie Ray Wolfe

Billie Ray Wolfe, age 75, was born on August 6, 1941 to Sonnie and Clara Lewis in Pikeville, Tennessee. She passed away on June 29, 2017. Billie loved going to church and spending time with her grandkids. In her spare time, Billie also enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading, and cooking.

She is survived by her children- Janet Norris and Kathy Anderson; grandchildren- Iva Smith (Michael), Jacob Norris (Savannah), Justin Norris (Mandy), and Jimbob Anderson; great grandchildren- Kaylee, Brooke, Bailey, Daniel, Alanna, Harper, and Skylar; and several brothers and sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband- Paul Wolfe; and several brothers and sisters.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Billie will also be held on Sunday beginning at 3:00 with Gary Robbins officiating. She will be laid to rest in New Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

James E. Moore

James E. Moore of Fairfield Glade passed away at the age of 79 on June 22, 2017.   He was born in Coy, Alabama on October 12, 1937.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Judy, his daughters Jamie Higgs and husband Tom of Spring, Texas and Lisa Waggoner  and husband Berry of Prairieville, Louisiana plus grandchildren Dakota and MaKayla Higgs, and brother Bob Moore of Dothan, Alabama. Judy’s family, Chuck, Christine, Brooke, Bailey and Sherri Benedict and Lance Lott also treasured him.

Jim was a super salesman, an avid golfer and a fan of The Alabama Crimson Tide.  A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, July 7, at 2:00 pm at the Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead Dr.

Wanda Joy Whittenburg

Wanda Joy Whittenburg, age 74, was born on November 10, 1942 to Alva and Ada Whittenburg in Crossville, Tennessee. She passed away on June 26, 2017. Wanda enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. She loved spending time with her grand nieces whenever she could. Wanda also loved the Lady Vols and watching their games.

She is survived by her godchildren, niece- Keli Oliver (Craig) and nephew- David Stewart (Susie) and numerous other nieces and nephews; great nieces- Liv Stewart, Sophie Oliver, Aivree Stewart, and Lily Oliver; and brothers- J.D. Whittenberg (Norma Sue) and Bob Whittenburg (Fredressa).

She is preceded in death by her parents; six sisters; and four brothers.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will also be held on Thursday following visitation at 1:00.

Robert Earl Pugh

Robert Earl Pugh, age 64, was born on January 27, 1953 to Sherman Pugh and Earlene Pugh Lewthwaite in Crossville, Tennessee. He passed away on June 24, 2017. Robert was a member of Mayland Baptist Church for 11 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. Robert loved visiting Pigeon Forge and Cades Cove with his family. He also loved going on vacation to the ocean.

He is survived by his mother- Earlene Pugh Lewthwaite; his wife of 45 years- Rosie Baldwin Pugh; son- Jason Pugh (Betsy); grandchildren- Mason Pugh and Kelvin Pugh; great grandchild- Karson Riley Pugh; brother- Bruce Pugh; and sister- Nadine Garrett Golliher (Dennis).

He is preceded in death by his father- Sherman Pugh; and grandchild- Kayla Pugh.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Robert will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 with Mike Reagan officiating. Robert will be laid to rest in Pugh Cemetery.
