Janis Marie Wyatt Gore

Janis Marie Wyatt Gore, left for Heaven on Saturday , September 21, 2024. She had celebrated her 93rd birthday on June 28th.

She was the daughter of Rev. James R. Wyatt and Nellie Mae Davis Wyatt, of Waco, Texas.

In 1950 she married Floyd Gore, and they took up residence in Crossville in 1951. She was a homemaker most of her life, but sometimes worked as a seamstress.  She was of a quite nature, but had a wonderful sense of humor. She was solely dedicated to her family and seeing to their happiness.  

She raised 2 daughters, Linda Gore Bennett, of Crossville, and Carolyn Gore Thompson,  of Peachland, NC.

Grandchildren were her joy. Jason Dyer and Jeff Dyer of Crossville, Jill Dyer Green of Knoxville , April Thompson Hoover of North Carolina. Granddaughter,  Sabrina Thompson Mullis of North Carolina  passed away in 2019.

The great grandchildren could do no wrong! Jace Dyer, Lucas Dyer, Bailey Dyer, and Beau Dyer of Crossville. Duncan Green, Knoxville, and Jake Green,  Boston, Mass. Callie Thompson, Nathan Fulks, and Makayla Bishop of N C. , and Michael Bishop of S.C.

This year she welcomed her first great-great grandchild, Jax Dyer. We had 5 generations together. 

Services will be held Sunday, September 29th at the Mayland Church of the Nazarene . Visitation at 2:00 and service at 3:00. Burial will follow in the Mayland Cemetery. Her grandson, Rev. Jason Dyer, will be officiating the service. 

We are so thankful for the time we had her here with us. Even 93 years was not long enough.

Charlotte Katarina Nazelrod Georgia

Charlotte Georgia, age 75, was born on August 3, 1949 in Weinheim, Germany. She passed away on September 21, 2024 in Crossville, TN. For many years, she ran a daycare in her home and even became a county inspector for in-home daycares. She then went on to work with Social Services specializing in cases with special needs children. Her favorite hobbies were traveling and drawing.

She is survived by her husband-David Georgia; son- Michael Nazelrod; grandchildren- Hannah Raneta and Emma Rae; and siblings- Barbara Doyle, Cora Brown, and Daniel Hickman.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her husband- Everett Nazelrod.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-2pm, with the service to follow at 2pm, Craig Ward officiating.

Another service will be held at County Line Baptist Church in Luther Glenn, VA at a later date.

Thomas Jefferson Wyatt

Thomas Wyatt, age 82, was born on June 27, 1942 to Luther and Hazel Wyatt in Winesap, TN and passed away on September 17, 2024 in Cookeville, TN. His favorite hobbies were building things, fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife- Joyce Wyatt; children- Thomas Jefferson Wyatt, Jr. (Tina), Cecil Wyatt, and Eric L. Wyatt (Rhonda); grandchildren- T.J. Wyatt III (Holly), Tasha Schwenn (Joseph), Emily Buckner, Dana Buckner, Douglas Wyatt, Kelly Capps (Tommy), and Tia Swallows; and great grandchildren- Karson Capps and Lily Capps.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents- Luther and Hazel (Blaylock) Wyatt; grandchildren- Jeffery Swallows and Andrew Wyatt; and siblings- Louella Hamby, Bill Wyatt, Milo Wyatt, Blanche Wyatt, Hershell Wyatt, and Marshall Wyatt.

The Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:00pm in Davis Cemetery, Kenneth Cole officiant.

Ronnie Gene Wilson

Ronnie Gene Wilson, age 68, was born on May 14, 1956 to Eston Elmo and Ollie Jane Lewis Wilson in Cumberland County, TN and passed away in his home on September 15, 2024. He was a mason, laying brick for homes across the area. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and coon hunting. He loved hearing the dogs bark while running dogs with his friends. The joy of his life was spending time with his grand children and family was where his heart was.

He is survived by his wife- Kathy Wilson, children- Amanda Pedigo (Aaron), Cindy Wilson, and Abe Wilson (Sheena); grandchildren- Brooke Hicks (Blake), Bailey Eaton, Jaclyn Eaton, Taylor Guthrie, Bryson Wilson, and Hadlee Wilson; great grandson- Colt Hicks; and siblings- Mary Tabor, Paul Wilson, and Jerry Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings- Elbert Wilson, Amy Bolin, Uldean Stone, Eleanor Benton, and Danny Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5 to 8 and a funeral service will be on Friday, September 20 at 10:00 with Bro. Nate Hargis officiating. Burial will be in Thomas Springs Cemetery.

James H Davis

James H Davis, age 61, was born on August 4, 1963 to General and Alma Haney Davis in Elyria, Ohio and passed away on September 13, 2024 in Knoxville, TN. Among the jobs he had over his lifetime, he especially enjoyed his career as a stockman with Walmart.

He is survived by his son- Sparky Ayers and best friend- David Norris; sisters- Rhonda (Eddie) Brock of Richmond, KY and Tina Newton of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters- Debbie, Penny, and Buffy Davis, and brother- Michael Davis.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 at his home in Crab Orchard, TN with Craig Ward will officiating.

George Washington Gora, Jr.

George Gora, age 79, was born on May 6, 1945 to George and Stella Gora in Athens, AL. He passed away on September 10, 2024 in Crossville, TN. George really enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite hobbies were spending time with his grandchildren, playing Rook, watching football, and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife Judy Kearley Gora; children GeLynna (Tony) Shaw and Shylah Gora; grandchildren Cayden and Gracie Jo; and sisters Berta Merolli and Barbara Carter.

George was preceded in death by his parents George Washington and Stella (Green) Gora; son Rocky Gora; and siblings Louis Gora, Hugo Gora, Helen Taylor, and Amy Hartsel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Visitation will begin at 3pm, with the service to follow at 4pm, Chris South officiating.

James Emerson Burgess

James Burgess, age 89, was born on August 10, 1935 to the late Henderson and Ida (Wyatt) Burgess in Crossville, TN. He passed away on September 10, 2024 at his home in Crossville. He had several jobs throughout his life. He was a manager in the auto department for Montgomery Wards, a welder for General Motors, and enjoyed working on cars as a backyard mechanic. James’ favorites hobbies were gardening, hunting, and riding his horse. He loved sitting on the porch watching the world go by and was always the life of the party.

James is survived by his wife- Edna Smith Burgess; children- James L. (Susan) Burgess, Tracie Burgess, and Mitch Burgess; sisters- Christine Turner and Duane Turner; grandchildren- Christopher, Jason, Travis Jr., Starr, Jordan, Alicia, Dustin, and Destine; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife- Tip Burgess; children- Dallas, Travis, and Cathy; 5 sisters; and 1 grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. from 12-2pm, with a Graveside service to follow in Burgess Cemetery. Bro. Craig Ward will officiate.

John Reid McKeen

Dec 19, 1932-Sept 4, 2024

John R. McKeen, 91 of Crossville, TN passed away on Wednesday,  Sept. 4, 2024.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1932 to Henry Alexander McKeen and Margery (Boyle) McKeen of  Mackay, Queensland, Australia and had 11 siblings, Kingsley Boydell, Grace Boyle, H. Cecil, Fred, William, Phillip, Gordan, Robert, Robin, Peter and Helen. He was raised in New South Wales and Queensland, of Australia. He attended Queensland State School. He went into the Australian Army where he studied Artillery and Radar & Computer in Sydney.  He ultimately became an instructor for the Army.  He received a Australian Defense Medal for his service.

He then went on to travel the world competing with cycle racing and track & Field as well as he was part of Australia’s Olympic Team. He also was known for training horses in multiple countries that led him to Canada.  During his travels he met his future wife Nancy (Clark) McKeen of Springfield, OH and were married for 60 years. 

John and Nancy raised three children, Carolyn Jo (1958), Kellee (1966) and John W. (1967).  After retiring, He and his wife worked with Maden Lane Church of God in the Outreach Department to support those who were in need.   They were known to give of their time to whatever was necessary.  He was a long-standing member of Hillside Church of God and Maden Lane Church of God in Springfield, OH.  While in TN he attended the First Church of the Nazarene. In his spare time, he loved spending time with any family members, talking to people, traveling, fishing, playing Kings on the Corner, card & pool games, reading the bible, watching any type of sports on TV and gardening.  He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children Carolyn Jo, Kellee (her husband Scott) John W. and his 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as many extended relatives that John adored.

There will be a service to honor John at First Church of the Nazarene Crossville, TN – Sat 7 Sept 2024. He will be laid to rest at Berry Highland West Knoxville, TN.

Stephanie Ann Wilson

Stephanie Wilson, age 52, was born on April 13, 1972 to Elbert and Lois Wilson in Chardon, OH. She passed away on September 1, 2024, after a 2 year battle with cancer.

Stephanie is survived by her daughter Ana M. Wilson; sister Brenda L. Wilson; and brothers Kelvin E. Wilson and Mark A. Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elbert Elmer and Lois (Cooper) Wilson; and sister Linda (Wilson) Gabbert.

Services will be held at Central Baptist Church (1346 S. Main Street, Crossville) on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00am.

Cecil Edward Martin

Cecil Martin, age 53, was born on May 31, 1971 to the late Redgenal and Earnestine (Davis) Martin in Bell, TX and passed away on August 15, 2024 at his home in Crossville, TN.

Services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11am, with the service to follow at 12pm. He will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery immediately following the service.
