Jane Barkley Kohler, age 79, was born on October 12, 1936 to the late George and Agnes Campbell Hannah in Detroit, MI. She passed away at her home in Crossville, TN on May 8, 2016. Jane was a “copilot” for the gambling girls on their many trips to Tunica and other casinos, and she enjoyed playing card games. She loved spending her time quilting and scrapbooking. Jane also enjoyed baking cookies and sitting down and reading a good book.

Jane is survived by her husband- Gerald E. Kohler; son- Mark Kohler (Maria); daughters- Terri Palmer (Rob) and Lynne Smith; grandchildren- Derek, Joshua, and Loren; and sister Bette Baxter (Bill).

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters- Agnes, Susie, and Isabelle.

William Wayne Blaylock, “Bill,” age 72, was born on March 5, 1944 to the late Clarence and Vera Lee Smith Blaylock in Scottsboro, AL. He passed away in Crossville, TN on May 7, 2016. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved watching basketball and football games. Bill enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and with family at get-togethers. Scott’s Gulf was his favorite place for hunting ginseng.

Bill is survived by his daughters- Tammie Goodwin (Greg), Lisa Kerley (Lynn), and Tracy Lawson (Bryan) all of Crossville, TN; grandchildren- Tiffany, Dakota, Cierra, Kelsey, Stephanie, Karissa, and Dusty; great grandchildren- Grayton, Harbor Kate, Caden, Braxton, Raven, Jennifer, Austin, and Bella; brothers- Clarence Lee Blaylock of Salome, AZ, Eddie Blaylock, Doug Blaylock, both of Crossville, TN, and Ron Blaylock of Nashville, TN; sisters- Alice Burdett, Donna Misra of Symrna, GA, Edna Burgess, and Annette Sapp.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents- Clarence and Vera Lee Smith Blaylock; wife- Glenda Sue Hassler Blaylock; brother- Kenneth Blaylock; and sisters- Ova Caroline and Rita Burdett.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m. with Bro. Randall Dye officiating. He will be laid to rest in Thomas Springs Cemetery.

Kenneth Paul Hoffman passed away on May 2, 2016. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 10, 1938. He was the son of Edgar W. Hoffman and Grace Ward Hoffman and step-mother Vera M. Hoffman. He was raised in Austintown, Ohio and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1956 where he competed in all sports. After graduation, he attended Youngstown State University completing a BA degree in Chemistry and Biology in 1966. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

This 10 year period was interrupted due to his enlistment into the U.S. Army (1960 to 1963) where he served in the Army medical corps as a combat medic and an ambulance driver and cross trained in the various disciplines of the units medical clinic. He was stationed in Straubing, Germany, 7^th Army 1^st Cav Division, 11^th Armored Calvary from January 1961 through June 1963 during the Cold War period. Straubing is located in southern Germany in the beautiful Bavarian countryside.

After graduating from YSU, he accepted a job in Cleveland, Ohio with Tremco, Inc. as a Research and Development chemist in product development supporting the commercial construction industry. After 6 years in the lab and during his 30 year career at Tremco, he was promoted into several technical product marketing management positions. During his time with Tremco, he was awarded two U.S. Patents for his work in the commercial construction market. In 1987, he was promoted into Tremco’s International Division as the Glazing Product Sales and Marketing manager with global responsibilities. This required extensive travel to all regions of the world developing and supporting new business opportunities primarily in major cities in the Pacific Rim, Australia, Middle East, Europe, South America, and North America until his retirement in December 1997. He was a member of the NGA (National Glass Association), AAMA (Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association), and ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials).

Upon his retirement he moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, where he took up golf and became interested in the hobby of woodworking. He has designed and made custom furniture out of solid oak, walnut, and maple hardwoods in his workshop. Additionally, he made custom bookshelves and toy boxes for children of family members and friends to enjoy. He enjoyed following college football, especially his Buckeyes of The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Duane E. Hoffman, sister, Evelyn McCreary, stepsister Betty Lippiatt, and stepbrother Bill Lippiatt. He is survived by his son Mark S. Hoffman of College Park, Maryland, and several nephews and nieces, Kenneth, Robert, Scott, Deborah, Debi, Jodi, and James.

He opted for cremation and Crossville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, 2653 North Main St., Crossville, TN (931) 456-0047. Dr. James Jeffrey Monday, pastor of Tansi Community Church, died on Monday, May 2nd due to complications of a stroke. Jeff never met a stranger. He was loved by both his family and numerous friends from far and wide.  He will truly be missed.

Jeff was born on April 23, 1959 in Oak Ridge, TN.  He was first and foremost a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.  He was a graduate of Johnson University, Oral Roberts University, and received his doctorate in Christian Counseling Psychology from Southwest Bible College & Seminary. Jeff knew from an early age that he wanted to serve the Lord.  He was the pastor of the Tansi Community Church for the past 20 years and served in many churches across the country both as a youth minister in the early days of his career and later on as a leader of congregations.

Jeff generously bestowed his love and support on those around him.  From the groups of young men and women he coached on the playing field, to the young couples he joined in matrimony, to the comfort he offered during hospital bedside visits, Jeff was a supportive and loving figure in the lives of many.

In addition to his love for Christ, Jeff had a lifelong love of sports and animals.  His passion for sports, which began as a young man on junior and senior high school football and basketball teams, grew as a member of his college basketball team, and continued to his recent work with the Cumberland County High School Jet football team. Jeff served as a substitute teacher in both Cumberland and Putnam Counties. He had a soft spot for rescue dogs, and he was as devoted to his pets as they were to him.

His exuberant personality made him a natural at standup comedy which he enjoyed immensely.

Jeff is survived by his parents, James Hubert and Anne Monday, sisters Kelli Monday and Wendy Monday, and his niece Kassidy Sommer of whom he was so proud.

Family will receive friends at Tansi Community Church on Friday, May 6th from 12 to 2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. with Jeff’s friend, Dr. Paul Dixon officiating.

Al Colton, age 91, was born June 20, 1924 to Lee and Edith Colton in Centerville, Iowa and passed away on May 1, 2016 in Crossville, TN. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Washington BB56 in World War II. He owned Mr. Al’s Body Shop in Sturgis, SD and was very involved in the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Al was a faithful servant to the Lord and served as Chairman of Deacons at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. He was a member of Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville, TN.

Al is survived by his wife of 70 years- Loretta Colton; sons- Douglas R. Colton (Barbara) and Jay D. Colton (Linda); daughter- Lynda S. Adams; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister- Dee Palmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Lee and Edith Proffitt Colton; sister- Twyla Phiffer; brothers- Lester and Chuck Colton; and daughter- Shelly Faber.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, from 6 to 8. A graveside service will be held in Crossville City Cemetery on Friday, May 6, at 10:00 am with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating.

Dr. Thomas George Noll, age 77, of Crossville, formerly of Hillsdale, Michigan, passed away April 29, 2016. He was born on November 7, 1938 in Garden City, Kansas to the late Dr. Carlton Matthais and Mary Francis Noll. He graduated from Evergreen High School in Colorado in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1956 – 1959, and then attended Northern Arizona University. After graduation in 1964, he attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating in 1968. After completing his residency training at Riverside Hospital in Trenton, Michigan, he set up his private practice in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was certified in family medicine, geriatrics, and medical acupuncture. He was a Fellow and Certified Diplomat of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He won numerous awards, yet had little regard for status. He was active in the community and served as Exalted Ruler in Elks Club from 1989 – 1990. He was on staff at Hillsdale Community Hospital from 1969 – 2001. He served as Chief of Staff from 1980 – 1982. He was Medical Director of Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility from 1989 – 2000 and was Medical Examiner of Hillsdale County from 1989 – 2001. He was also Medical Director of Myrtle House Drug & Alcohol Detox Center. He was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Michigan State University and Lincoln Memorial University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. He retired from clinical practice in 2001 and moved to Crossville, Tennessee and began an Osteopathic Manipulation & Acupuncture clinic. Dr. Tom was known to his colleagues, students, and patients, many of whom became friends, as a compassionate, generous, and caring physician. He made a difference in the lives of many. His greatest passion was helping others. He was a constant encourager, and his wish for everyone was that they would find the same unconditional love which he discovered during the last years of his life’s journey.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Katherine Dunaway Noll, son Christopher & wife Taryn Noll, of LaGrange, Kentucky, daughters Lisa & husband Al Maxwell of Caramel, Indiana, Angelina & husband Damion Arthur of Crossville, Tennessee, sister Kay Ferry of Shipshewana, Indiana, brother Richard & wife Lin Noll of Hillsdale, Michigan, brother-in-law William & wife Ann Dunaway of Spartenburg, South Carolina, brother-in-law Johnny & wife Margo Dunaway of Knoxville, Tennessee, brother-in-law David & wife Susan Dunaway of LaFollette, Tennessee, sister-in-law Marie & husband Larry Meders of Jellico, Tennessee, brother-in-law Robert & wife Jean Dunaway of Crofton, Maryland, seven grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. His family is thankful for the loving care of Dr. Pierre Berry & the staff at Wyndridge Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Church B53 on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Harold Cox officiating. Christopher Joseph Finn, age 25, was born on March 28, 1991 in Crossville, TN to John and JoAnne Finn. He passed away in his home in Cookeville, TN on April 23, 2016.

Christopher was a pure hearted soul. The baby of 6 children, he was compassionate and loved his friends and family deeply.  He was a lover of animals and had recently adopted a dog named Callie of which he adored. He enjoyed working out, going to the beach, traveling out west to the dude ranch, riding horses, creating video games for others to play online, building and fixing computers and had a thirst for knowledge of all things IT. He was a self-taught computer genius and the family guru of “how to work anything.”  Christopher had a passion for music as he was always seeking the grander meaning of things.

Christopher is survived by his parents, John and Joanne Finn; siblings, Coby Finn Rivera, Colleen McMahon Curry, Matthew Finn, Meghan McMahon Plfugner and Patrick McMahon; girlfriend, Brianna Chisholm.

Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1-3 pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A service will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home with Father Jim officiating.

Jacob Lee Hood, age 32, was born on February 12, 1984 to Jerry and Betty Hood in Crossville, TN. He passed away on April 21, 2016. Jacob loved his job as a mechanic. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing.

Jacob is survived by his parents- Jerry and Betty Hood; children- Haley Gibson, Jaclyn Hood, Lexee Hood, and Annie Hood; and sister- Jennifer Asberry (Michael).

Jacob was preceded in death by his special friend- Lynn Patton; special uncle- Donald Hood; and many other family members.

Family will be receiving friends at the Bread of Life on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. A memorial service for Jacob will also be held on Thursday at the Bread of Life at 3:30 p.m. with Bro. Ralph Reagan officiating.

John Julius Forte, Sr. was born on March 21, 1940 in Bronx, New York and passed away on April 24, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was married to his wife, Patricia, for 25 years. Mr. Forte retired from Florida law enforcement. He has worked as a police officer, a detective, and spent 9 years as a jail warden in St. Lucie Co., Florida, where he was promoted to the rank of Major. Mr. Forte retired in 1994 and moved to Crossville, Tennessee. He loved football and baseball. Mr. Forte was a New York Yankees and a New York Giants fan.

Mr. Forte was preceded in death by his mother- Catherine Forte; father- Celeste Forte; and his brother- Robert Forte.

Mr. Forte is survived by his wife- Patricia Forte; children- John, Jr. and Christine Forte of Crossville, Tennessee, Donald and Yvette Forte of Pennsylvania, Kenneth and Kim Forte of Crossville, Tennessee, Lisa Grimes of Palm City, Florida, Laurie and Andy Runge, and Todd and Sandra Bower; and 16 grandchildren.
