David Bruce DeMoss

David Bruce DeMoss, age 79, was born on March 15, 1937 to the late Ovie and Julia Gropengeiser DeMoss in Vandetta, Kentucky. He passed away in Crossville, Tennessee on May 30, 2016. David was a hard worker and worked most of his life. He worked with Whirlpool for 25 years, the coalmines in Virginia for 6 years, and with Rich Products in Murfreesboro for 17 years. David loved traveling and sitting down to read a good book in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years- Sondra DeMoss; son- Tim DeMoss (Libby); daughter- Beth White (Scott); grandchildren- Vanessa DeMoss, Nathanael White, Seth White, Colton DeMoss, Thomas DeMoss, and Eli DeMoss.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers- Ronald and Jerry DeMoss.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for David will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. also at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery.

Mable E. Dyer

Mable E. Dyer, age 91, was born on March 2, 1925 to the late Ulus and Hattie Brewer Lewis. She passed away on May 28, 2016. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 12 to 2 at Crossville First Church of the Nazarene. A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Rev. Greg Keller and Rev. Don Hivley officiating. She will laid to rest in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

Dorothy “Dotti” Batson

Dorothy A. “Dotti” Batson, age 80, passed away May 26, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband William J. Batson of 39 years. She is survived by Iva O’Callaghan, 93, of Columbia, Mississippi and another sister Lorene Langly, 87, of Maylene, Alabama, and by her beloved adopted family, Don, Meg, Andrew, Eric, and Matthew, numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She loved helping the needy, education, her God given earth, crossword puzzles, reading, flower gardening, all kinds of crafts, and animals.

She served in the USAF during Korea, was a dental assistant, a hygienist, and a bookkeeper. She had a Business and Restaurant Management degree.

She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church of Big Lick where a memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 1, at 5:00 p.m. She and her husband will be interred at Knoxville Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements will be taken care of by Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.

Barbara Marie Hennings

Barbara Marie Hennings, age 73, was born on September 9, 1942 in New York City, NY to the late Stephen and Ethel Brodhead Hrica. She passed away on May 21, 2016 in Crossville, TN. For most of her life, Barbara worked in education as a mathematics instructor. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club and traveling. Barbara loved Christmas decorating for the holidays. She also loved entertaining her friends and loved ones.

She is survived by her sons- Michael Roy Mangus and Stephen Kirk Mangus; grandchildren- Jennifer, Kimberley, Michael, and Ashley; great grandchild- Joshua; and brother- Ken Hrica.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.

Desdie May Sapp

Desdie May Sapp, age 69, was born on June 17, 1946 to Ruble and Flonnie Pryor in Jamestown, KY and passed away May 21, 2016 in Crossville, TN. She spent most of her life as a logger and raised a family at work with her in the rock quarries. She was a devoted mom and grandmother who enjoyed camping, four wheeling, and horse riding. She also enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by her sons- Frank Sapp (Shawn) and Josh Wyatt; daughters- Teresa Richardson, Sherry Jackson (Darrel), and Lindsey Salvato (Joe); grandchildren- Ashley, Lukas, Shalee, Kelby, Dustin, Danny, Donny, and Elsey; great grandchildren- Jakob, Avery, Tinsley, Silas; brothers- Harrison, LD, and Richard Pryor; and sister- Linda Bilbrey.

Desdie is preceded in death by her husband- Nathanael Sapp; parents- Ruble Pryor and Flonnie Sharp Pryor; and brothers- Jerry, Larry, and Wint Pryor.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 23, 2016, from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 4 p.m. with Bro. Mike McCoy officiating. The burial will be in Thomas Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Willazene B. Wyatt

Willazene Bruce Wyatt, age 63, was born on February 21, 1953 to Joe and Imogene Bruce in Rockwood, TN and passed away on May 19, 2016 in Crossville, TN. She was a homemaker, mother to all children who came through her door. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She is survived by the father of her children- Butch Wyatt; mother- Imogene Meadows; sons- Trey, Peyton, and Ty Wyatt; daughters- Tanya Davis (Darrell), Tabby Mills (Keith), Trena Wyatt, and Amber Bruce; many children she raised as her own; grandchildren- Stephanie McCormack, Breeana Marshall, Marcus Pugh, Ashley Davis, Chase Marshall, Lexi Pugh, and Caley Davis; a great granchild- Brady Barrett and a brother- Calvin Bruce.

Willazene is preceded in death by her father- Joe Bruce; brothers- Jamie and Kenny Bruce; and sister- Debbie Bruce.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22, 2016, from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 1:00 with Bro. Mike Webb officiating. Burial will be in Big Lick Cemetery.

William “Shorty” Barnes

William “Shorty” Barnes, age 80, was born on May 12, 1936 in Cumberland County, TN. He passed away on May 14, 2016 in Crossville, TN.  Shorty enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He also like to tinker on things like cars, lawn mowers, four wheelers, and computers.

He is survived by his sons- William Keith Barnes (Verna), Timothy Dean Barnes (Shirley), and Tony Daryl Barnes (Sherry); grandchildren- Kelly Barnes, Timothy Barnes, Jr., Bradley Barnes, Daniel Barnes, Brandon Barnes, Niketa Marshall, and Tiffany Brown; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife- Dorothy.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 5 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery following the service.

Effie Thompson

Effie Thompson, age 79, was born on October 8, 1936 to Johnny and Margie Morris in Oliver Springs, TN and passed away on May 14, 2016 in Knoxville, TN. She was a housewife for most of her life and enjoyed sewing, quilting, going to yard sales and playing her Game Boy. She was very active in her church.

She is survived by her children- Patsy Roysdon, Carol Roysdon, Howard Thompson (Nita), Harold Thompson (Melissa), Margaret Christmas (Lynn), and Jason Thompson; 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; and sisters- Katherine Garrison, Ethel Jones and Linda Boles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband- Howard Thompson; daughter- Ruth Ann Bolin; grand daughter- Misty Thompson; and sister- Loretta Pelfrey.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow at 2:00. Bro Gary Howard will be officiating. The burial will be in City Cemetery.

Graci Mae Vanlandingham Monday

Graci Mae Vanlandingham Monday, age 5 mos., was born on December 16, 2015 to Terry Paul Monday and Jessica Lynn Vanlandingham. She passed away on May 11, 2016. She was a happy baby who loved looking at bright colors.

She is survived by her parents, grandparents- Tony Vanlandingham, and Terry and Janet Monday; brother- Braylon Findley; sister- Natalee Findley; aunts and uncles- Ashley Vanlandingham, Laura Vanlandingham, Josh Buck, Tony Robinson, Jonathan Robinson, Gabriel Robinson, Sierra Vanlandingham, Emma Vanlandingham, Rachel Garrett, and Bruce Monday.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother- Shelia Darlene Vanlandingham.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 16, 2016, at Redemption Church from 11 to 1 with the service following at 1:00 with Pastor Mike Ritzman officiating. Burial will be at Mayland Cemetery.

Jane Barkley Kohler

JaneKohlerJane Barkley Kohler, age 79, was born on October 12, 1936 to the late George and Agnes Campbell Hannah in Detroit, MI. She passed away at her home in Crossville, TN on May 8, 2016. Jane was a “copilot” for the gambling girls on their many trips to Tunica and other casinos, and she enjoyed playing card games. She loved spending her time quilting and scrapbooking. Jane also enjoyed baking cookies and sitting down and reading a good book.

Jane is survived by her husband- Gerald E. Kohler; son- Mark Kohler (Maria); daughters- Terri Palmer (Rob) and Lynne Smith; grandchildren- Derek, Joshua, and Loren; and sister Bette Baxter (Bill).

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters- Agnes, Susie, and Isabelle.
