Dennis James Dixon

Dennis James Dixon, age 40, was born on December 7, 1975 to Ronald Thomas Dixon, Jr. and Debra Wyatt Smith in Crossville, TN. He passed away on July 8, 2016 in Crossville, TN.

He is survived by his father- Tom Dixon; children- Kaitlyn Hayes, Lili Hayes, and Will Hayes; grandson- William Hayes; brothers- Louie Smith (Trisha) and Joel Dixon; sister- Molly Smith; grandmothers- Lela Wyatt and Betty Dixon; special friend and fiance- Hope Long; Aunts- Terry Murphy (DM), Diane Barrett (Jason), and Cheryl Threet (Keith); uncles- Dennis Wyatt, Dean Dixon (Kay), and Dennie Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his mother- Debra Wyatt Smith; grandfathers- Howard Wyatt and Ronald Dixon; and very dear great grandmother- Mary Barnett.

A memorial service for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Cornerstone Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating.

Florence Evelyn Newman

Florence Evelyn Newman, age 92, was born to the late Edwin and Mabelle Elliott Halstead on November 20, 1923 in Warren, Ohio and passed away in Crossville, Tennessee on July 7, 2016.  Florence graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, she loved to play golf and travel. Florence also enjoyed playing cards and reading a good book.

She is survived by her son- Bob Newman (Lynn); daughters- Nancy Robb (John) and Jean Goldring (Bill); grandchildren- Beth Kaminski (Kevin) and Katie Goldring; and one great grandchild- Kade Kaminski.

She was preceded in death by her husband- Carl Newman, former school superintendent of the North Allegheny School District.

Delwin Ray Pyper

Delwin Ray Pyper, age 82, was born on June 10, 1934 to the late Ray and Ruth North Pyper in Heber, Utah. He passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 27, 2016. Delwin enjoyed listening to bluegrass music. He also loved going on cruises and spending time with Juanita.

He is survived by his life partner- Juanita Montgomery; sons- David, Timothy, and Peter Pyper; daughters- Mary and Tammy Pyper; a tribe of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers- Melvin and Kenneth Pyper; and sisters- Idona, Alda, Ruth Joyce Pyper.

He was preceded in death by Daniel, Michael, and Douglas Lance Pyper; daughter Lark Pyper; and sister- Mary Beth Pyper.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Delwin will be held following visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Bishop Dale Hensley officiating. He will be laid to rest in Midway City Cemetery in Midway, Utah.

Mark Greer Frady

Mark Greer Frady, age 72, was born on February 7, 1944 to the late Isaac and Mary Lena Kerley Frady in Bledsoe Coutny, TN. He passed away at his home in Crossville, TN on June 26, 2016. For many years, Mark worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. In his spare time, he loved going hunting and fishing. Mark also enjoyed spending time on the water going boating, water skiing, and taking part in other water sports.

He is survived by his wife- Katherine Kerr Frady; daughters- Kimberly Plemons (Rex) and Lisa Day (Shane); grandchildren- Kindra, McKenna, Riley, Keegan, Brandon, and Tiffany; great grandchildren- Breanna, Casidy, Alivia, Gunner, and Korbin; sister- Mildred Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters- Minnie Poe and Manza Swafford.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mark will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating. He will be laid to rest in Music Cemetery.

James Samuel Allen “Sam”

James Samuel Allen, “Sam”, age 55, was born on March 9, 1961 to the late James Calvin Allen and Mary Frances South Allen. He passed away on June 24, 2016 in Nashville, TN. Sam loved spending his time outdoors. He enjoyed going hiking, camping, and hunting for arrowheads.

He is survived by his mother; brother- Dennis Allen; aunts and uncles- Roy and Stella South, Bill and Sue Eldridge, Coy and Ruth South, and Ann Hodge; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; aunt- June Beaty; and uncle Earnest Hodge.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 2 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service for Sam will also be held on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. with Chris South officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Monterey.

Cheryl Ann Hughes

Cheryl Ann Hughes, age 60, was born on February 12, 1956 to the late Raymond P. and Leona Ploof Patenaude in Ticonderoga, New York. She passed away at her home on June 19, 2016 in Crossville, Tennessee. In her spare time, Cheryl embraced her creative side and enjoyed doing arts & crafts. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to Cherokee.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years- Henry K. Hughes; sons- Shawn Hughes (Tara) and Kenneth Hughes (Katie); daughter- Brenda Astrauskas (Keith); grandchildren- Emily, Brittney, Kendra, Olivia, Kallie, Logan, Michael, and Kaleb; brothers- Raymond, Gerald, Wayne, and Timmy; sisters- Debbie; special sisters- The Perry Girls; and special caregiver and friend- Jennifer Green.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law- Hella Patenaude.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5 to 7 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Cheryl will also be held on Monday following visitation at 7 p.m.

Martin Jimenez

Martin JimenezMartin Jimenez, age 49, was born on March 31, 1967 to the late Manuel Jimenez Gonzalez  and Socorro Gonzalez Aceves in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away on June 14, 2016 in Van Buren County, Tennessee. He was a waiter for 22 years at Cancun Mexican Restaurant. Martin was a family man. He enjoyed watching soccer and his favorite team was Chivas.

He is survived by his wife- Mercedes Jimenez Chavez; son- Martin Jimenez; daughter- Maria Jimenez; step-mother- Rene Jimenez; 11 brothers and sisters; and many other close family members.

His Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 11:00 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Él era un camarero de 22 años en Cancun Mexican Restaurant. Martin era un hombre de familia. Disfrutaba viendo el fútbol y su equipo favorito era Chivas.

Charles William Brown “Charlie”

Charlie Brown, age 83, was born on September 2, 1932 in Crossville, TN to Everett and Rebekah Daniels Brown and passed away on June 13, 2016 in Crossville, TN. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as a supervisor for TDOT until retirement. Over the course of his life, working on the farm was what he enjoyed most.  Charlie was a sunday school teacher for over 40 years. He played the mandolin and guitar and enjoyed playing gospel music.

He is survived by his wife- Wanda Coleman Brown; sons- Chris Burnette (Bonnie), Keith Brown (Deloris), and Stanley Brown; grandson- Marcus Brown; grand daughters- Rachel Burnette and Brandy Rosser (Timothy); great grandson- Taylor Burnette; brothers- Joseph, Earl, John, and Tony; and sisters- Martha Nadine, Darlene, Faye, Connie, and Lola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Lester, and sister- Dela Mae.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 9. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:00 with Bro. Gene Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Willie Andrew Brown

Willie Andrew Brown, age 83, was born in Crossville, TN to the late Ernest and Martha Hyder Brown. He passed away at his home on June 12, 2016. Willie enjoyed woodworking and going coon hunting in his younger years. He loved spending time outdoors going four wheeling and fishing. Willie also enjoyed taking care of the many chickens he owned. He was a member of Red Hill Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife- Pansy Henry Brown; sons- Stephen Brown (Libby), John Brown (Susan), and Jerry Brown (Jill); daughter- Donna Worthington (Wendell); 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers- Edward Brown and Herbert Brown; and sister- Dollie Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service for Willie will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. also at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Parham Cemetery.

Georgie Mae Testorff

Georgie Mae Testorff, 90, was born on January 18, 1926 in Drexel, Missouri to the late George and Dorothy Kincaid. She passed away on June 1, 2016 in Crossville, Tennessee. Georgie was a full-time mother and homemaker who loved music, art and cooking. She was a joyful, active Christian her entire life.

She is survived by her sons Lee and Eric Testorff and daughter Susan Knaebel; her grandchildren Pete Testorff, Justen Knaebel, Jennifer Flavin and Jillian Worsham; and great grandchildren Gregory, Nadine, Eva, Henry, Emma, William, and Andy. She had another great grandchild on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Laura Vaccario, Mary Kelling and Dorothy Ross, her brother John Kincaid, and son Thomas Testorff.

A memorial service for Georgie will be held on June 4 at 1 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Georgie’s honor to a charity of your choice.
