Bobbye Jean Shipe

bobbye-shipeBobbye Jean Shipe, age 85, was born on September 10, 1931 to John and Della Silvey in Wheat Community of Roane County and passed away at her residence on October 13, 2016. She left a legacy of love. Bobbye was raised in church and loved the Lord. She read the Bible and followed its teachings, she was a prayer warrior. She was a member of Pine Eden Baptist Church and sang in the choir, a member of the Joy Group and worked in the clothes closet. She was a dedicated wife of 65 years and mother to not only her own 6 children but to all who were fortunate to cross her path. Bobbye was strong, brave, caring, compassionate, loving, selfless and attentive to everyone’s needs over her own. She was fondly called Nana by not only her own family but also by those who knew her and loved her. She loved and respected God’s creation and brought her gentle touch to His creatures as well. She loved her farm and worked tirelessly to can food from the garden and take care of live stock. Bobbye also impacted many lives through her journey here on earth and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her sons- Gary Shipe (Mary); Steve Shipe (Linda); Mark Shipe; and Chris Shipe (Rebekah); daughter- Rebecca Skudin (Michael); grandchildren- Charlie, Logan, Megan, Jessica, Steven, Erika, Sarah, Nick, Katie, and Matthew; 16 great-grandchildren; brother- Harold Silvey and sister- Johnnie Msarsa of Knoxville, TN.

Bobbye is preceded in death by her parents- John and Della Silvey; husband- James Shipe; son- James Michael Shipe; and grand-daughter Jennifer Marie Shipe.

The family will have a private service at a later date.

Connie Sue Wadsworth

Connie Sue Wadsworth, age 70, was born on October 6, 1946 and passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on October 6, 2016. She enjoyed riding horses and spending time with her grandchildren. Connie also was a caretaker with her husband Bill at the Gospel Baptist Tabernacle in Crossville.

She is survived by husband-Bill Wadsworth, sons- James Wadsworth (Kristen); Steve Wadsworth (Amy); and Tommy Wadsworth (Michelle), grandchildren- Jacob Wadsworth, Donavan Wadsworth, and Tera Wadsworth, sister- Bonnie Frady.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents and brothers- Marion Kirk, and Bill Kirk.

Family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. on Friday, October 14 from 5 to 7 P.M. with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be in Ozone Cemetery on Saturday, October 15 at 10 A.M.

Dewey Allison Stafford

Dewey Allison Stafford entered into this world on October 1, 1949. He was born in Bledsoe County to James Albert Stafford and Betty Ruth (Bice) Stafford, and was raised in Cumberland County. He was a hard working man who spent his career in construction and operating heavy machinery. He was a Christian man who loved his Lord and his family and he attended the Bible Methodist Church in Crossville. He loved to hunt and fish and work on cars with his sons. He is survived by his wife Virginia Dean (Garrett) Stafford– Sons Chris Stafford and wife Jodi, Joshua Stafford and his wife Lisa, and Phillip Stafford– Grandchildren Evan Stafford, Isayiah Otero, Noah Otero, Elijah Otero, Wyatt Stafford, and Alyssa Stafford– Brothers John Stafford and Larry Stafford– and Sisters Nancy Kilby and Mary Kimball. He was preceded in death by his parents James Albert Stafford and Betty Ruth (Bice) Stafford, and brothers Earl Stafford and Jerry Stafford. He was devoted to his Lord and family and will be deeply missed by so many. Dewey Allison Stafford departed this world with his family by his side and went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 12:26 AM. Pallbearers for Dewey Allison Stafford are Caleb Stafford, Tim Matthews, David Garrett, Lee Garrett, Anthony Griffin and Terry Garrett.

William Delmer Honea

William Delmar Honea, age 73, was born on December 17, 1942 in Atlanta, GA to Arthur and Ruth Honea and passed away at his residence on September 30, 2016. He enjoyed being outside fishing and boating. William also liked golfing in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife- Rosemary T Honea; Son- Thomas Kent Honea (Lisa); Daughter- Shannon Leigh Honea Gomez (Michael); Grandchildren- Montana Jewell, and Abbey Gomez; Brother- Arthur Lee Honea Jr.; and Sister- Mary Lois Patton

William is proceeded in death by his Parents- Arthur and Ruth Honea; Brother- John Garvin Honea; and Sisters- Thelma Loise Bradford and Katherine White.

Patricia Ann Griffith

Patricia Ann Griffith, age 64, was born on December 4, 1951 in Crossville, Tn to Edgar and Thelma Lucille Parsons and passed away at Ft. Sanders in Knoxville, TN on September 28, 2016. In her younger years, she enlisted in the Air Force, did some nursing at Cumberland Medical Center, and was a book keeper at Mountain Builders. She excelled at being a business owner, owning Griffith Lawn Craft and Griffith Stone. Patricia was on the cooking team at church and enjoyed studying her Bible, giving advice and helping others. She loved her cats, flower gardening, and reading. Nascar Racing was her passion!

She is survived by her daughters- Sheila Sisco and Trina Rector; grandchildren- Jackson Griffith, Heather Gentile, Lucas McDonald, and Logan McDonald; five great grandchildren; and a special nephew- Keith Griffith. She was preceded in death by her husband- Carl Griffith and grand daughter- Shaylee McDonald.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 12 to 2 with the service to follow. Pastor Harold Qualls will officiate and the burial will be in Creston Cemetery following the service.

Inez Victoria Neely

Inez Victoria Neely, age 94, was born on October 26, 1921 to Henry and Virginia Clevenger in Morgan County, Kentucky and passed away on September 27, 2016 in Crossville, Tn. She loved to crochet and quilt in her spare time. Inez also liked to garden and read.

She is survived by her sons- Ralph Fannin (Judy), David Neely (Sherry Edwards); daughters- Lorae Phillips (Michael), Michelle Hinds (Todd); grandchildren- Scott Fannin, Kevin Fannin, Eric Phillips, Heather Phillips, Marvin Parsons; and 16 great grandchildren.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband- Samuel W. Neely; parents- Henry and Virginia Clevenger; brothers- Glenn, Pete, Emery Lee, Clyde; sisters- Mae, Tennie, and Lennie.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 with a funeral service to follow. Pastor Josh Cardwell will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in Bowman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send to Revolution Church of Crossville or charity of choice.

Richard Ely

richard-elyRichard Ely, age 81, was born on November 14, 1934 to Seth and Mabel Ely in Flint, Michigan and passed away on September 24, 2016 in Crossville, TN. He was an auto worker for General Motors for over 30 years and in his spare time enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife- Barbara Jones Ely; daughters- Regina Musselman (Joseph), Michele Kalman (Otto), and Paula Reuman (Gene); sons- Richard Ely, Jamey Wesley (Ashleigh), and Shawn Wesley (Scarlett); grandchildren- Ellen Baker, Seth, Tim, and Sean Wheaton, Melissa Collins, and Emma and Dalton Wesley; and 10 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his siblings and his parents- Seth and Mabel Bostater Ely.

The family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 10 to 11 with a memorial service to follow. Billy Kemp will officiate.

Karen Joy Burkhart

Karen Joy Burkhart, 64, was born on November 7, 1951 to Elmo and Lucille Hassler in Crossville, Tn. She passed away on September 21, 2016.

She is survived by her husband- Jerry Burkhart and her mother- Lucille Hassler.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:00am at Linary Cemetery with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Cumberland County.

Julia Clare Nix

nixJulia Clare Nix, age 81, was born on June 13, 1935 to Annis and Julia Groves in Tornado, WV and passed away on September 17, 2016 in Crossville, TN. Julia spent most of her life in Florida later living in Idaho before coming to live with her daughter in Crossville, TN. She was an artist, painter, seamstress and homemaker. Julia also worked at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans for a time. After raising her children, she traveled extensively, even kissing the blarney stone in Ireland, but her most favorite place of all was on the beach. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters- Margo Lynne Brown of Crossville, TN and Melissa Ann Black of Melbourne, FL. Grandchildren- Dean, Ashley, and Tyler Black; Great Grandchildren- Stormy Dean Borgialli, Sunny Wayne Day of Crossville, TN, Jesse Sams, Kennedy Black, and her special companion Brittany…. who was her favorite. Also, her special friend- Emma Campbell.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents- Annis and Julia Groves; husband- Bill Nix; brother- William Jennings Cox; sisters- Lillian Matthews and Dorothy King Russell.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 4 to 5 P.M with a service to follow. She will be laid to rest in the Crossville City Cemetery.

James Junior Reed

James Junior Reed, age 92, was born on May 8, 1924 to Earnest and Pearlie Reed in Crossville, TN and passed away on September 18, 2016 in Crossville, TN. He loved restoring old cars and doing any kind of mechanic work. James also liked water-sports, especially fishing.

He is survived by his wife- Chieleah Reed; daughter- Pamela Brothers (George); granddaughters- Melissa Barbieri (Louis); Stephanie Ramachandran (Chandru); great grandsons- Sajan and Jeevan Ramachandran, and half sisters- Dorthy Deck; Juanita Sabattus.

James was preceded in death by his parents- Earnest and Pearlie Reed; half brothers- Melvin, Benny, and Ralph Burke; half sisters- Louise Burke, and Helen Miller.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 6 to 8. A graveside service will be held at Green Acres Memory Gardens on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 beginning at 11:00 with Rev. Robert Lawrence officiating.
