Clifford Eugene Godsey

clifford-godsey0017Clifford Eugene Godsey, age 78, was born on April 27, 1938 in Crossville, TN to the late Henry Martin and Mary Alice Norris Godsey and passed away on November 8, 2016 in Haines City, Florida. Clifford was a millright that enjoyed fishing, gardening, and camping. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife- Laura Barnett Godsey; daughters- Sharon Ann Stockton (Ketron) and Constance Sue VanZant (Gregory), Donna Fornito (Richard) and Diane Poston (Kim); grandchildren- Daniel, Caleb, Timothy, Seth, Micah, Richard, Anthony, Jennifer, Kelly, Ashley, and Kimberly; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers- James David, Howard Lee, Roscoe, Monroe, and William Thomas Godsey  and sisters- Ethel Justice,Etta Norris, Jane Ann Norris and Neomia Oakes.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 12, 2016, from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service at 2. Bro. Ray Norris with officiate with burial to follow in Haleys Grove Cemetery.

Willene Whittaker

Willene Whittaker, born July 13, 1945, passed away on Nov. 1, 2016, at home under hospice care. She was a homemaker and a preacher’s wife. She was of the non-denominational faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Robert R. Whittaker, as well as her parents, William Julius and Eva Thomason Elmore; sisters, Judy Hawn, Myrtle Houston, Helen Jerrell and Anna Ruth Hargis; and brothers, Albert Elmore and Allen Elmore.
She is survived by her daughters, Rose Key (Randall) of Cumberland Cove and Tresia Moon Spencer (James) of Mayland; sons, William Whittaker (Denice) of Sparta and Robert Joseph Whittaker of Cumberland Cove; grandsons, Seth Moon (Kayla) of Louisville, KY, Ethan Moon of Cookeville and Jody Moon of Byrdstown; granddaughters, Payton Moon and Mykayla Moon of Byrdstown; sisters, Mary Ann Godsey (Gerald) of Crossville and Vicki Walls of Crawford; brothers, Thomas Elmore (Percilla) of Hartsville, Virgil Elmore of Hartsville, Rick Elmore (Angela) of Chapel Hill, and Ralph Elmore (Lucy) of Eagleville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, and the funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at 1 p.m. Bobby Floyd and Richie Farley will officiate with burial in Mayland Cemetery following the service.

Lottie Jane James

Lottie Jane James, 89, was born on March 5, 1927, in Cumberland County to Roy and Sarepta Loden and passed away in her home in Grandview, TN. She was a laundress and retired from Polly Prim’s in Lakeland, FL, in 1989, and moved back to Grandview area in Tennessee. She enjoyed having lunch with her friends, going to yard sales, collecting memories, and listening to music. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lottie was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children, Jesse E. James (Lynn) of Sugar Tree TN, Gary L. James of Mont Eagle, TN, Ronald L. James of Lafayette, GA, and Zelma Robinette of Grandview, TN; grandchildren, Jessica Womack (Daniel), Allen Heddleston, Gary James Jr., Angela, Courtney, Asa Mack James, and David James; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Loden and Sarepta James Loden Barnwell; son Marvin Ray James; daughter Patrica Gail James; and grandson Michael R. Heddleston.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 10 a.m. till noon with services to follow. Randall Dye will officiate with burial to follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.

Deborah Jean Hively

Deborah Jean Hively, age 65, was born on November 3, 1950 to Charles and Betty Kittner in Charleston, WV and passed away on October 29, 2016 in Crossville, TN. She was a Pharmacy Technician for Cumberland Medical Center, a great mom and minister’s wife to her husband, Dan Hively. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano, loved to play badminton, and was a BIG Alabama Roll Tide fan.

She is survived by her husband- Dan Hively; mother- Betty Jean Kittinger Kittner; children- Christy Dolinich (Tony), Casey (Robyn), and Betsy Shelton; grandchildren- Katlyn, Justin, Julia and Clay. Preceded in death by her father- Charles Gilbert Kittner.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 5 to 8.

Donna Herrmann

Donna June Herrmann, age 85, was born on June 19, 1931 to Clarence and Susan Appman in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on October 19, 2016 at Life Care Center of Crossville, TN. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and crossword puzzles. Donna also liked bowling and gardening.

She is survived by her sons- John D. Herrmann (Linda) of Lafayette, IN; Mark D. Herrmann (Cindy) of Lititz, PA; Steven P. Herrmann (Rachel) of Royce City, TX; and Timothy P. Herrmann (Patricia) of Lexington, KY. Grandchildren- Elizabeth, Kathryn, Christina, Susan, Anthony, Andrew, Chloe, and Grant Herrmann.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Clarence F. and Susan D. Appman; brother- Clarence Appman; and husband- Edgar J. Herrmann.

Family will receive friends at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory INC. on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 1 to 2 PM with a funeral service to follow and will be officiated by Pastor Greg Keller. Burial will be in Crossville City Cemetery.

Sibyl Brady

Sibyl Mae Coley Brady passed from this life on earth to her eternal home in heaven. Sibyl was preceded in death by her husband- Raymond J. Brady of whom she was married to for 37 years; mother- Ina Mae Jolley Coley; father- Joseph Franklin Coley; brother- Harold Dewayne Coley; and sister- Helen Ira Coley.

She has left behind three daughters and their husbands: Jackie Mae Brady Cravens (Dennis Layne Cravens), Jeraldine Rose Brady Johnson (Kenneth Edward Johnson), Jennifer Denise Brady Hageman (Jeffery Robert Hageman), three beloved granddaughters- Elizabeth Mae Cravens, Amanda Lee Cravens Visser (Martin D. Visser), Amy Melissa Johnson and one grandson- Benjamin Jeffery Hageman (Rachel Ann Hunter Hageman), a great granddaughter- Jessica Layne Visser and great grandson- Alex Desmond Visser. Sibyl also left behind a loved sister-in-law Eva Speich Coley and six loved nieces and nephews, and ten great nieces and nephews and ten great-great nieces and nephews. She loved us all.

Sibyl was a homemaker and a wonderful devoted mother to her daughters. She taught a Preschool Sunday School Class and was a member of the WMU at Leavitt Road Baptist Church in Lorain, Ohio for many years. She believed in Christ first, family second and friends last. Rest in Peace our Dear Mother!

Family will receive friends Monday, October 24, 2016 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be in the Crossville City Cemetery on Monday, October 24, 2016.

 

Christine Johnson

Christine Johnson, age 71, was born on March 4, 2016 to Homer and Murriel Lawson in Eliria, Ohio and passed away at Physicians Regional Medical Center on October 20, 2016. She was a production worker at Oster Manufacturing. In her younger years she liked taking her family to the lake. Throughout her life she enjoyed doing yardwork.

She is survived by her son- Frankie Johnson (Terri); daughter- Tammy Johnson-Janow (Leslie); grandchildren- Jerry Lynn Johnson, Matthew McCoy Johnson, Jeremy Kevin Janow, Jason Andrew Janow; and sisters- Martha Prater and Nita Blaylock.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband- Thomas “Jerry” Johnson; parents- Homer Lawson and Murriel Austin Lawson- Brothers- Waymond and Eugene Lawson and Norman Blaylock; and sister- Stella Mayberry.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 12 to 2 with service to follow at 2. Bro Donald bell will be officiating and burial will be in Akins Cemetery.

Kathryn Gumbel

Kathryn Gumbel of Fairfield Glade, age 85, was born on March 14, 1931 to Donald and Ruth Snell in Canton, Illinois and passed away at her residence on October 19, 2016. Kay was known for many things; loving wife & mother, generous “G-Ma”, out-going, optimistic, and an easy person to talk to.

She is survived by husband- Joseph H Gumbel; sons- Bruce Gumbel, and Mark Gumbel; daughter- Kathy (Gumbel) McGlothin; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nova Nevie Ledford

Nova Nevie Ledford, age 77, was born on December 2, 1938 in Shelbyanna, Kentucky to Frank and Croteal Sherlock and passed away on October 20, 2016 in Crossville, Tennessee. She was a housewife that enjoyed the duties of cooking and cleaning. She loved to take care of her husband, Elmer. Her favorite hobbies were reading and crocheting. She also loved animals and feeding the geese gave her joy.

Nova is survived by her husband- Elmer Ledford; sons- Quentin Ledford (Helen), and Gideon Ledford; daughter- Rebecca Bull (Donald); brother- Jim Sherlock; nieces- Rachel Jennings; and nephew- Clay Sherlock. She was preceded in death by her parents- Frank Holloway Sherlock and Croteal McBreyer Sherlock.

Family will receive friends Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2:00 PM.

Belvia Anna Hassler

Belvia Anna Hassler, 88, was born on July 11, 1928  to Reuben and Vernie Wightman in Pleasant Hill, TN and passed away at WyndRidge Health & Rehabilitation Center on October 16, 2016. She enjoyed sewing and reading. Belvia also loved watching Lady Vols Basketball and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Reuben and Vernie Wightman; husband- J.C. Hassler; brothers- Lloyd, Kermit and Gerald Marlin; sisters- Joanna Wightman, Alice Thompson and Margie Segal.

She is survived by her children- Sarena Flowers (Steve), Clara Davis (Tom), Sam Hassler (Linda), Terry Hassler (Vinnie); grandchildren- Monica Cason (Willie), Brandon Hood, Isaac Davis (Season), Kara Campbell (Will), Rebecca Christopher (Mark), Jennifer Lindsey (Mike), Ben Hassler (Rachael), Jared Hassler (Emily), LeAnn Taylor (Michael), and Lindsey Baker (Kristopher); 17 great grandchildren; brother- Bill Wightman; sister- Opal Sells (Royse); nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at First Congregational Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be in Crossville City Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Second Chance in Crossville, TN.
