Anthony Wayne Keagle

Anthony Wayne Keagle, 56 of Crossville departed this life to enter his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at UT Medical Center.

Anthony was born July 1, 1960 in Crossville, Tennessee. Tony loved life and proved it everyday by the example he was living. To know Tony was to love him. He had a Tonycontagious smile, which lit up his beautiful blue eyes. His love for his family was undeniable. Tony was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Gladys Keagle, sister and brother-in-law Rodney and Debbie Dodson, Niece and her husband Christopher and Karissa Green, great-niece Harper Green, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and fiancé Carol Stokes.

He is preceded in death by father Kenneth Keagle, grandparents Lester and Trusta Adams, Pete and Nora Keagle.

 

Roger Winston Graham

Roger Winston Graham went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 12, 2017 around 10 a.m. Roger was born on May 15, 1938 to Leland Bascom Graham and Helen Jane 9Hendry) Graham in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Soon after his birth, Roger, his parents and older brother, Jim, moved to Florida, where Roger grew up and attended school. After graduation from high school, Roger got a degree in Forestry and worked as a Forester before joining the Marine Corps. After serving his country, he returned to college for a degree in Optometry. He operated his own Optometry office in Clear Water, Florida for 25 years. At retirement, he and his wife, Sandy moved first to Maine for a few years and then to Fairfield Glade in 2006. Sandy passed away in 2007 after a short battle with cancer. Roger was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Roger’s failing health led him to move into the Fairfield Glade Assisted Living facility at 637 Woodgate Drive Crossville, TN where he has lived for the past four years.

Roger leaves behind a son and two daughters; William Christopher (Kelly) Graham, Alicia (Duane) Walker, and Heather Graham, three grandchildren; Lehren, Brooke, and Cameron Walker, and friend and caregiver, Sharon. Memorial plans have not been finalized, but Roger is being cremated and his remains taken to Georgia. Roger loved animals and regularly donated to their care. Nora Mae England O”Dell passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 9, 2017, in Crossville, TN at the age of 84. She was born on June 11, 1932 in Iaeger, WV. Nora worked at Kmart in Pontiac, MI for 21 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to all. She attended Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. She will be truly missed by family and friends.

Nora is survived by her husband of 39 years, Marion O’Dell of Crossville, TN. Children- Peggy Mays (Bobby) of Lapeer, MI, Brenda Norris (Billy) of Crossville, TN; Grandchildren- Bob Wayne Mays (Teresia) of Metamora, MI.; Great Grandchildren-Brennan Taylor Moore and Kerigan Alysse Elkins of Wharton, WV, and Mallorie Marie Mays of Metamora, MI.

Nora was preceded in death by Grandson- Jason Dallas Moore Van, WV; father- Harrison England; mother- Lydia England; siblings- Bertha Hatmaker, Edith Becker, Dennis England, Stella Goad, Juanita Childers, Nellie Christian, Billy Ray England, and Bobby Lee England.

Visitation will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home January 12, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Service will be held January 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with a burial to follow.

Edith Hall

Edith Anna Lee Burden Hall was born in White County, TN, to the late Allen and Docia Sapp Burden. She became a member of the Church of Christ at age 14, being baptized by Bro. A. R. Hill, minister of Sparta Church of Christ. She was a lifelong member of North Main Street after moving here as a young girl. She and the late Leamon Ray Hall were united in marriage in 1939. To their union four children were born. She was a stay-at-home mom until she was called to substitute teach. She thought it would be for only one day but lasted 35 years.
She is survived by four children, Norma Woody (Dennis), Gwen Swafford (James), Richard Hall and Robin Hall (Donna); 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon with the service following. She will be buried in Green Acres.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Elmo Spears

Elmo James Spears Jr. was born October 1, 1935 in Mount Clemens, MI to Elmo and Susan Spears and passed away on December 28, 2016. Elmo greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making homemade wine. He was the Vice President in the First Marine Division association. He was an Honorary black belt at Art Palmer’s Karate Dojo and enjoyed helping the young karate students in the martial arts. His greatest passion was passing on the knowledge his father had taught him. Elmo was also a member of the Old Fashion Independent Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife – Linda Spears, daughters – Kimberly Spears Smith (Steve), and Stacey Spears, sons – William Vermeulen, and Earl Vermeulen Jr., 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother – Susan Spears, father – Elmo Spears, four sisters, and his son – Danny Spears.

Service will be held January 14, 2017 at 2:00pm at Old Fashion Independent Baptist Church with Gary Howard conducting the service.

Fred Brison Laughter

Fred Brison Laughter was born March 7, 1943 in Polk, NC to Daniel and Ada Laughter and passed away in Crossville on January 5, 2017. Fred was a professional carpet layer/ artist of his own business. He enjoyed music in all aspects especially singing and playing the bass guitar in his own band. Fred loved to play poker and lottery tickets. Fred was kindhearted and enjoyed taking care of others, he also loved telling jokes to see people laugh.

Fred is survived by, wife- Waneta Laughter, sons- Thomas Brison Laughter (Keithanna), Joseph Laughter, Robert D. Squires, and Rockney Tyler (Leight), daughters- Vickie Laughter, and Sally G. Whaley (Johnny), grandchildren- Roman Laughter, Logan Wiborn, Jessie Big Low, Heather Marsh, Ryan Tyler, Kiefer Tyler, Stacee Robinson, and Dillon Swan. Several great grandchildren and sisters- Fay Rennaker, Jeanelle Teal, Christine Shook, Mary Lou Bowling (Roger), Elizabeth Walden (Lamar).

He is preceded in death by his mother- Ada Laughter, father- Daniel Laughter, brother- George Laughter, sister- Marion Galloway, granddaughter- Holli Tyler.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on January 9, 2017, at Alloway Baptist Church with a service to follow. Burial will be held at Reed Cemetery.

Sharon Tharp

Sharon Fitzgerald Tharp passed away on January 3, 2017 after her third brave battle with cancer surrounded by those she loved.She was born in Crab Orchard, TN on December 9, 1954, she attended Cumberland County High School and worked as a dental assistant until she retired in 2014. She spent her life caring and providing for everyone she loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her mother, Inus Lowery Fitzgerald, her loving and devoted husband, Jesse Lee Tharp, her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Erin Tharp, her granddaughter Lorelei Tharp and her two brothers and their wives, Gene and Barbara Fitzgerald and Jeff and Lisa Fitzgerald, as well as her nephews and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Lee Fitzgerald, and her daughter Angela Jo Tharp.

Her services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Crossville Memorial in Crossville, TN at 5pm. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, (931) 484-8525.

Theresa Anna Casella

Theresa A Casella age 88, born December 11,1928 to Vincent and Anna Casella in Brooklyn, NY and passed away in Crossville, TN on January 1, 2017, she was a member of the Fairfield Glade Society for many years. Theresa worked at the Crossville Train Depot in sales and greatly appreciated the friendships she made with the locals. She also took pleasure in playing with her beloved dogs, Roxy and Star. She was a wonderful seamstress who loved cooking and especially enjoyed baking. She was a generous lady who would do whatever she could for anyone who needed help.

In lieu of flowers she has requested that you donate to the Foccus Group in care of Crossville Humane Society and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

A special Thank you to staff of Fairfield Glade Assisted Living, Caris Hospice, and the the caregivers at Wyndridge Nursing Home for all of the help that was provided during these hard times.

Darwin Lynn Hamel

Darwin Lynn Hamel, age 73, was born on April 8, 1943 to Robert and Julia Hamel in Detroit, MI and passed away in Nashville, TN on December 30, 2016. He was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Caterpillar. He enjoyed his work and taking care of his family. He raised his children with a strong work ethic while also spending time with them boating, camping, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife- Linda Holdman Hamel; children- David Hamel, Julia Bordeau (Tom), and Darwin Hamel Jr. (Deidre); grandchildren- Jeff Hamel, Felica Clore, Madison Hamel, TJ Bordeau, Chris Bordeau, and David Hamel; one great grandson- Jaxson Darwin Hamel; and siblings- Shirley, Pat, Bobby, Darlene, Myron, Dennis, and Elaine. Darwin was preceded in death by his parents- Robert Seth Hamel and Julia Hoffman Hamel and siblings- Vonnie, Roger, and Geraldine.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 1 to 3 with service and  military honors to follow.

Patti Galan

Patti Galan, born August 19, 1937, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2016. Family and friends will always remember her selflessness and loving care for others. She loved entertaining and opening her home to others. The expression in others delight was her delight. She was a selfless person who always put others first, even in her last days. Patti enjoyed the outdoors and working with her husband. One of her favorite things was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who gave her so much joy. She loved reading the bible. She canned, cooked and had people over to their home whenever they could. She loved volunteering and serving at her church and visiting the nursing homes. She loved sharing the gospel with people. She would constantly show others the beauty in the little things around her, the little flowers, beautiful fall leaves, sunsets, etc. she was an optimist. Always reminded us of our blessings, and how good God is.

Patti was preceded in death by: Cleo Morris(Father), Edna Shelton(Mother), Anjanette Galan(Daughter), and Joe Morris(Brother).

She is survived by, Husband: Terry Galan, Sons; Michael(Kristen) Cone, of Waterford MI, Mark(Shelly) Cone, of Grand Rapids MI, and Julian(Sue) Galan, of Crossville TN, Sister; Syble(Richard) Miller, Brother; Dillard(Ellaine) Morris, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Patti’s Visitation will be, Friday 30th 5-8p @ Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Funeral Service, Saturday 31st 11a @ Central Baptist Church.
