Dennis Lee White Jr

Dennis Lee White, Jr., age 68, of Crossville, passed away February 28,2017 in Nashville Tenn. He was born on October 30,1948 in Miami, FL to Dennis Lee White, Sr. and Audry Haas White, who had moved to Miami from Charleston W .V.. The family moved back to Charleston, where another son, Daniel, was born. They then moved to Cleveland, Oh. area,where Dennis Sr, found work at Ford Motor Co.in Brookpark, OH. Dennis graduated from Berea High School, attended Cuyahoga County Community College, and joined the United States Navy in 1970. He was stationed in Galveston, Texas where he met Kathy, and they married in Durant, Oklahoma in 1972.Their daughter, Aril Leigh was born in 1973. The family moved to Ohio in 1974 when Dennis got out of the Navy. He had a job waiting at Ford Motor Co. where he had been working before he joined the Navy. A son Dennis Lee White III was born in 1976, and another son Matthew Daniel, was born in1985. Dennis retired in 2004, to Crossville, Tenn. where he and Kathy bought a home in 2003.                       Dennis loved traveling and had been to all 50 states and several countries. He also was in bands in Ohio, as a teenager in the Mysterions, and later in the Summertime Blues and played in a lot of locations in Northern Ohio. He was in a band in Crossville for awhile, Special Delivery. Dennis Played the guitar, the keyboard and sang. He had played the trumpet in school. He also loved photography, gardening and golf. He was in a league, the Liars and Cheaters, since 2004. He loved living in Crossville, and he loved his family and took wonderful care of all of them.                                                                                            Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, April Leigh White Sales (Sean), Dennis Lee  White III. and Matthew Daniel White (Laura); his grandchildren, Haylee Evelyn Hurray, Shelby Leigh Sales  and Felix John White; and his brother Daniel D.White (Sherry)              He was preceded  in death by parents.                                                                                    A visitation will be held Friday, March 3, from 4pm to 7pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, March 7th in Berea ,Ohio at the American Legion Post 91 from 6 pm to 8 pm EST.                                                                                      Crossville Memorial is in charge of the arrangements.

 

 

 

Catha Virginia Cross

May 16, 1960- February 24, 2017 at Cumberland Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1960 to the late Carson Lloyd Turner and the late Mary Ellen Norris Turner. She studied Quality Management at Roane State Community College. She worked in offices of Mastercorp and Colinx then later on a homemaker.

Her top two priorities in life were God and family. She liked to read, watch TV, camping, hiking and enjoyed nature.She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith. She was one of the sweetest people anyone could have ever known. Her family was the whole world to her.

She is survived by her husband of 38 and a half years, James Cross, son- Keith Cross, daughter- Storme Cross Insco, Niece/ Daughter- Chasity Matthews, grandson- Zachery Insco, sisters- Barbara Turner Daffinee (Wade), BJ Turner Masters, Teresa Turner Stafford (John), and brothers- Ronald Turner (Delores), Tracy Turner, and Travis Turner.

She was preceded in death by her father in law, Curtis Cross, Brother in law- Leslie Cross, Sister in Law- Jackie Cross, and niece Tabitha Turner.

Pallbearers are Keith Cross, Caleb Stafford, Jason Richards, Shane Turner, Justin Turner, Terry Cross, Derrik Turner, Gary Turner, and Nathaniel Daffinee.

A visitation will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday February 27th from 6:00- 8:00 pm. A service will be held Tuesday February 28th at 2:00pm at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory with a burial to follow at Turner Cemetery.

 

Ruth Leeann Manis

Ruth Leeann Manis, age 86, was born to John Roger and Loie Bryant Green on June 18, 1930 in Crossville, TN and passed away on February 23, 2017 in Crossville, TN. She worked in several sewing factories around Crossville and loved to garden and travel. Ruth was a member of Rinnie Baptist Church, served 25 years at a Bible camp, and enjoyed taking flowers to the sick in the community.  She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Mary Chapter #11, and a 50 year member of the Family Community Education Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by her children- Sandra England (Robert), Karen Harrell (William), David Manis (Thelma Jean), and Martha Stevens (Terry); six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother- Walter Dean Green; and sisters- Patricia West and Brenda Grant.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Paul P. Manis; and siblings- J.C. Green, Clarence Green, and Wanda Atkinson.

The family received friends on Sunday night at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, the funeral was held Monday, February 27, 2017, at Rinnie Baptist Church and she was buried in Rinnie Cemetery. Vic Davis officiated.

Deborah Ann Dunn

Deborah Ann Dunn born September 12, 1971 to Robert and Martha Sherrill in Crossville, TN and passed away February 22, 2017 in Crossville, TN. Mrs. Dunn loved to ride motorcycles, dance, and was a big family lady who loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her mother- Janie Sherrill, husband- Wayne Dunn, daughter- Jackie Chavis (Corey), sister- Angela Kilby, and brother- Bob Sherrill. Deborah is preceded in death by her father- Robert Sherrill.

Family will receive friends February 26, 2017 from 11:00-1:00pm with a service to follow. Burial will be held at Linary Cemetery

Dorothy Joan Rector

May 14, 1935 to February 21, 2017

Dorothy Joan Rector was born May 14, 1935 in Dandridge, TN to the late Joe and Trula Brooks. She was lovingly called Gran-Gran by many, and was known as Aunt Jodie by her nieces and nephews; but the most precious name was Moma by her children. She lived in and raised her family in Pomona, but has lived in the Hebberlburg community for the past 10 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and daughter.

Dorothy loved the country and she loved the Lord, she was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Dandridge. She worked at Roselon Southern for many years. She was the most loving, caring and thoughtful person, loved by all who knew her. She loved gardening, camping, campfires, traveling, riding thru the nature in her side by side, going out to eat, and her pets. She loved her pets dearly, including her chickens, but most of all she loved her family. She was the matriarch of the family, the one you went to for advice, guidance, a meal, a place to stay, a hug, or an I love you or a “Don’t worry it will be ok”.

Tuesday February 21, 2017 in the early morning she went to be with the Lord. She will be missed by all who knew her. Heaven must have needed a special angel. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. A service will be held Saturday February 25, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Pastor Tony French (her nephew) will conduct services and special speaker Greg Byram, and anyone wishing to share a special memory may speak. Special singing by her nephew Mark Brooks. Burial will be at Pomona Cemetery.

She is survived and deeply missed by her children- Glenda Kirby (Ear), Marvin Rector, Delores Turner (Ron), Johnny Rector (Leslie), grandchildren- Sherri, Tammy, Steve, Lori, Jodi, Darrell, Gary, J.D., Cody, and numerous nieces and nephews, a lifelong friend Mayford French, and a close friend Joy White, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents- Joe and Trula Brooks, husband- Dempsey Rector, sisters- Viola French, Wanda Brown, brothers- Nathan Brook, R.V. Brooks, and granddaughters Tabitha Turner, Laci, and Leah Kirby.

Pallbearers are her grandsons and great grandsons- Steve Kirby, Darrell Rector, J.D. Rector, Cody Rector, Gary Turner, Tyler Burke, Devyne Templeton, and R.J. Fields. Honorary pallbearers are her great great grandchildren Landyn Coleman, Bryor Hearndon, Maggie Joann Coleman, Addisyn Hearndon, and Neyland Ireland.

Laura May Godsey

Laura May Godsey, age 81, was born November 29, 1935 to William Harman and Ruth Neomia Shank Barnett in Dayton, OH and passed away February 18, 2017 in Haines City, FL. She enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, most crafts and camping.

She is survived by her daughters- Donna Fornito (Richard) from New Berlin, NY, Diane Poston (Kim) from Xenia, OH,  Sharon Ann Stockton (Ketron) from Bulls Gap, TN, Constance Sue VanZant (Gregory) from Lakeland, FL; grandchildren- Daniel, Caleb, Timothy, Seth, Micah, Richard, Anthony, Jennifer, Kelly, Ashley, and Kimberly; several great grandchildren; brothers- William Terry Barnett and Ronald Lee Barnett; and sister- Delores Woods. Laura is preceded in death by her parents, siblings- John Richard Barnett, Ruth Ann Steck and Rosalee Yvohne.

The family will receive friends Feb. 24, 2017 from 12 to 2 with service to follow at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Haleys Grove Cemetery.

Wilbur Ernest Rauch

Wilbur Ernest Rauch, age 89, was born on January 27, 1928 to Frank and Mary Wilma Rothwell Rauch in Indianapolis, IN and passed away on February 16, 2017 in Dayton, OH. He served in the Marines and was a Montgomery Co. Deputy Sheriff. Wilbur was a member of the New Carlisle Massonic Lodge # 100 and enjoyed sports and motorcycles.

He is survived by his sons- Mark A Rauch (Beverly) and Randy Rauch; daughters- Sabrina Goble (Randall) and Katrina Buschur (Mark); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife- Bessie Rauch.

He will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery beside his wife and a picnic Celebration of Life will be had at a later date.

Evelyn Parsons

Evelyn Parsons, age 83, was born April 8, 1933 to the late Dee and Elcie Phipps Whittaker in Sparta, TN and passed away on Feb. 17, 2017 in Crossville, TN. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and daughter and loved her family dearly. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Bowman Bible Baptist Church where she attended faithfully. Evelyn enjoyed playing Bingo and gardening and worked at Avery Dennison for 26 years making many lifelong friends.

She is survived by and will be missed by her children- Thomas Troy Parsons Jr., Robert Larry Parsons (Mary), Elsie Mae Robbins (Dale), Shirley Marie Beaty (Donald), Gary Bruce Parsons (Jennifer) all of Crossville, TN; ten grandchildren- Rob, Tony, Caleb, Logan, and Trevor Parsons, Heather Dirkovics, DC and Dustin Robbins, Whitney Qualls and Britney Beaty; seven great grandchildren- Sarrah, Kris, Jakob, and Seth Parsons, Lochlann and Kylee Robbins and Zane Qualls; and sister- Lillie Berniece French.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years- Thomas Troy Parsons; sister- Roxie Lee Keyes; brothers- Harold Douglas and William Kenneth Whittaker.

The family will receive friends on Feb. 19 from 5 to 8 with service on Monday at 10:00 and burial in Creston Cemetery.

 

Michael Haley

Michael Terrence Haley born April 28, 1938 to Charles and Zona Haley in Santa Maria, CA and passed away February 15, 2017 in Grandview, TN. Michael has had a full life. He was a California police officer and paramedic, an ambulance company manager for Nevada, and drove a tour bus for California Nevada Golden Tours. Michael was a fireman for 47 years from California, Nevada, Utah, and Tennessee. He was the Captain of two fire stations in Cumberland Co., and the oldest man in Tennessee to pass his Firefighter 3 test. Michael was the morning radio disc jockey, Terry Michaels. He was Regional Manager for Delta Airlines, and an over the road truck driver. Michael enjoyed shooting, playing sports, fishing, camping, and he loved to travel. He ministered as the sound engineer at his church for the past eight years.

He is survived by his wife- Nancy Haley, children- John Colby Haley, Sam Rogers Haley (Ryan), Katherine Ann Matthews (Tyler), Victor Leroy Krusi (Connie), Katherine Anne Browning (Randy), and Jennifer Lynn Werner (Torsten), 16 Grandchildren and 2 Great Granddaughters.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Zona Haley, sister- Pat Hyde, and brother- Edward Haley.

The family will receive friends on February 25, 2017 at Crossville First United Methodist Church from 1 to 2 with a memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church and Hospice of Cumberland County.

Judy Gibson

Judy M Gibson was born December 8, 1947 to the late Lonzie and Mayne Stephens and passed away February 15, 2017. Judy loved to be in the garden, watch the grand children; and UT football, word searches and shopping.

She is survived by her sons- Otis Gibson, and Alfred Gibson; Daughter- Jacqueline Kitchen (Scott); Grand Children- Keisha Gibson, Ashley Lenoir (CJ), Brittany Stultz, Brandi Craig (Trent), Chris Kitchen (Kristen), Cheyenne Gibson, and Nicholas Gibson; Great Grand Children- Hadley Dean Craig, Thomas Arnold, Evan Flury, Trey Lenoir, Payton Lenoir, Isaiah Lenoir, Madi Stultz, and Gabe Blossom.

She is preceded in death by her parents- Lonzie and Mayne Stephens; Husband- Olen Dean (Hot Shot) Gibson, Brothers- Gene Stephens, Jimmy Stephens, Roy Turner, and Ronnie Stephens; Sister- Betty Myers.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 form 1:00 – 3:00pm with a service at 3:00PM. Burial to follow at Pomona Cemetery.
