Richard Andrew Phillips, age 77, was born January 27, 1935 in Denver, CO. After a long illness, he began his journey to heaven on February 28, 2012. He was a retired Missile Engineer and included in his career, he was a pilot instructor, skilled electrician, certified locksmith, made 1472 parachute jumps, and belonged to the Order of the Arrow Boy Scouts. Mr. Phillips was a deacon and a devoted Christian helping to build the Life Care Center and Gymnasium for the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Loving his church family, he was active in all phases of his church including Pathfinders here and in Florida. Taking pride in his work, he mastered everything he touched. He has done good things for people his whole life and has helped people all over Crossville with their problems.
We are saying good bye to our beloved Richard on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 4:00 PM. The service will be led by Pastor Brian Burgess with testimonials, singers, and because of Richard joining both the Marines and the Army, a 21 gun salute will be performed by our local’s finest honor guard volunteers. If you have ever received help from Richard, please come down and say “Goodbye”.
Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Holland Phillips; children, Rick Holland of Longwood, FL, Mike and Gloria Holland of Lake Mary, FL, and Tracy Holland Cook and Danny of Havana, FL. In Florida, he has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His sister Diann Campbell of Mascot, FL and brother Ron and Lena Phillips of Crossville say goodbye to their beloved sibling. He has eight nieces and nephews.

Ron you knew and enjoyed the best of Richard, may your memories comfort you.
My sisters, brother, parents and I were so blessed to know dear Richard when we were all young in Winter Park, Florida. We all knew him to be a gentle, kind and good human being and will never forget our lasting friendship with him. He always spoke so kindly of his family and his dear Dorothy. We will miss him but feel certain he is now looking over us, in peace and with love.
