Willa PAULINE “Polly” Montgomery, age 75, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee following a brief illness. Pauline was born on May 30, 1936 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Elmer Walker and Rachel Harding Walker. She built her life in Murfreesboro, and retired in 1998 from Teledyne Firth Sterling Metalworks in Smyrna, Tennessee. She was a member of the Murfreesboro Moose Lodge and VFW Post 8422.
Pauline is preceded in death by her father, Elmer Walker, mother, Rachel Harding Kerley, step-father, Lon Kerley, and siblings, Oliver Henry Walker and Dollie Mae Walker Tharp. Also preceding her in death are her half brothers, E.F. Walker and George Walker, and her half sisters, Carlene Walker, Janie Kerley, Mavis Warner and Effie Baker.
She is survived by half sisters, Wilma Proffitt and Pearl (Robert) Hall, and half brother, John Edward Kerley, all of Crossville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews and their children. Also surviving Pauline is her long-time friend and partner, Johnny Riggs of Murfreesboro, his son Alan (Mysti) Riggs, also of Murfreesboro, Johnny’s grandchildren, Daniel Riggs, Lindsay Riggs and Chance Ricketts, and Richard Harris, and Johnny’s great-grandchildren, Delilah, Katelyn, Hunter and Chelsea.
Pauline was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by many close friends and family.
A memorial service for Pauline will be held at Woodfin Funeral Home in Murfreesboro on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 1pm to 3pm. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home in Crossville, Tennessee on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 2pm to 4pm with a brief funeral service immediately following. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be interred and her life memorialized with her family in the Music Cemetery in Stephens Gap, Tennessee.
