Evelyn Geneva Mayes, age 88, was born on June 12, 1927 in Lancing, TN to Granville and Josie Howard and passed away on December 19, 2015 in Crossville, TN. She enjoyed being with her family, traveling, and shopping. She was a  Eastern Star member for more than 40 years.

Evelyn is survived by her special nieces and nephews- Wanda, Donald, Sherrie, Phil, and Valorie Cox, Kelli Tipton, Steven Douglas, Melissa Ray, Archie McCoy, Brenda Wing, James and Rebecca Howard, and Steve and Dickie Howard and dog- Harley.

She was preceded in death by her husband- Owen Mayes, parents- Granville and Josie Webb Howard; sisters- Effie Truman, Isoline McFall, Rena Hickman, and Helen McCoy; brothers- Marley, Odum, Guy, Agbert, Herbert, and infant J.C. Howard; special nephew- Paul McCoy; and dog- Fender.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow at 2. Rev. Roy Langley will officiate. The burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Garden.
