Sharon Janelle Wheeler Chubb

Sharon Janelle Wheeler Chubb, 74,of Fairfield Glade, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Hospice House of Cumberland County. She was born on September 16, 1945, in Terrell, Texas, daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Lee Wheeler.

Sharon married Charles Boyd Chubb, Jr. on June 30, 1967. She worked as a Medical “High Dollar” Collector for hospitals and as a realtor. She was known for her genuine love of people and steadfast devotion to the Lord.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, Leanne Chubb Younger and her husband, Edmond Younger; sister, Jane Wheeler Heers; and brothers-in-law, Danny Heers and Jamie Rand; nieces, Jayna Rand Mitchell, Rheanne Rand Archer, Suzanne Heers Hankins, and Meryl Marciante.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Wheeler Rand; and niece, Allison Rand Hawkins.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church with Rev. Moses Han and Rev. Lanita Monroe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorial gifts can be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.

Vincent Nicolo DeMaria

Vincent Nicolo DeMaria, age 58, was born on August 25, 1962 to Giuseppe and Rosa Beltempo DeMaria in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on August 29, 2020 in Oak Ridge, TN. Vincent enjoyed going fishing, cooking, playing on the computer, and watching action movies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki DeMaria; children, Patrick McClanahan (Jessarene), Keenan McClanahan (Nancy), Antonella DeMaria, Tara Hardy, Angelina DeMaria, Dante Erebara (Raylee), Giuseppe DeMaria, and Vincenzo DeMaria; grandchildren, Ashtian McClanahan, Zaiden McClanahan, KJ McClanahan, Keiara McClanahan, Zoey McClanahan, Christopher Hardy, Mallory Hardy, Aleigha Norris, Theo Erebara, Warren Stratton, and Jaziel Santana; and siblings, Francesca Hutter and Paul DeMaria.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for Vincent will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 6:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Family will receive friends prior to services from 4:00 – 6:00.

Nova Jane Hale Rooker

Nova Jane Hale Rooker went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2020.

She is survived by her husband, Elbert Donahue (Don) Rooker; daughter, Donna Gilliam; granddaughter, Ashton Jones; sisters, Mary Hale Hamby and Jane Wild; and brother, Orville Hale, Jr. (Rissa) of Crossville, TN. She is also survived by her nieces, Lee Hale and Brandi Goin and nephew, Philip Hale.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Glenice Cook, father, Edward Ruggerio, who passed away when Jane was two years old, and her loving daddy, Orville Hale.

Jane was born on April 19, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was in the CCHS graduating class of 1966. She attended Tennessee Tech University and worked for the Tennessee Department of Human Services for 37 years. Jane will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 3:00. Friends are welcome. The family requests that social distancing is observed and masks are worn.

Gladys Mae Reed True

Gladys Mae Reed True, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2020, surrounded by her family. Gladys was born on March 4, 1948, in Grandview, Tennessee to Eugene and Betty Reed. Her father Eugene, grandson Cameron Adams, and husband of 48 years, Homer Charles True, preceded her in death.

Gladys worked at Kayer Roth in Dayton, TN, for 30 years before retiring in 2010. She enjoyed selling Avon and was a proud member of the Spring City Ladies Auxiliary, Local 203, where she served as the Historian for the past several years. Gladys loved serving her community through her work with the Ladies Auxiliary.

Gladys loved to play bingo and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She loved it when her daughters tagged along for fun. She also enjoyed her Monday night Bunco games with great friends.

Gladys is survived by her mother Betty James, daughters Sonya Hale, Lisa (Mickey) Orick, Kim (Bryan) Bayles, and Beth (Toby) Ashley, stepdaughters Beverly (Greg) Isenhour and Becky (Eddie) Moss, sister Connie (Elmer) Pelfrey, and brother Billy (Bonnie) Reed. Gladys had thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at St. Clair Baptist Church, 760 Rocky Springs Road, Spring City, TN, on Sunday, September 6, 2020, from 2 – 4pm, with funeral service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Spring City Ladies Auxiliary, Local 203, or St. Clair Baptist Church.

Helen Irene Staab

Helen Irene Staab, age 95, was born on March 26, 1925 to Julius and Heleb Sabo Farkas in Willoughby, Ohio. She passed away on August 26, 2020. Helen loved to sing in the choir and dance. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed going golfing. Helen dabbled in a little painting and enjoyed doing other crafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Novak; son, Michael Staab (Sheila); grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel, David, Andrew, Tashaunda (Mike), and Cassandra (Christopher); and great grandchildren, Azeiera, Adonijah, Emma, Aiden, Eden, Josiah, Eliana, and Elijah.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Staab; son, Kenneth Staab; son-in-law, John Novak; and siblings, Julius, Joe, George, Tony, and Mary Ann.

A private funeral mass for Helen will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. She will be laid to rest in Big Lick Cemetery.

Betty Lee Chadwick

Funeral services for Betty Lee Chadwick, age 87, of Crossville, TN, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 1:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Matthews officiating. She will be laid to rest in Creston Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00.

William Boyd Raper

William Boyd Raper, age 75, of Crossville, passed away on August 21, 2020. Boyd was born on February 10, 1945 in the Cumberland Homesteads area of Cumberland County, TN. He was the son of the late George Lafayette Raper and Peggy Florence Randolph Raper, and was married to Wilma Louise Ford Raper for 55 years.  They had two daughters, Beth Raper Selby (Troy) and Leanne Raper Landers (Chad). They were also blessed with two granddaughters, Kaylee Selby and Paige Selby, and two step-grandchildren, Clay Landers and Addie Landers. 


Boyd worked in various occupations throughout the years, including farmer, Cumberland County Property Assessor, and as a successful real estate broker, appraiser and auctioneer. He also served on the Cumberland County Board of Education for over thirteen years. Most recently, he enjoyed working as a funeral attendant at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. 
His love of singing was cultivated as a young boy as he traveled with his parents who taught at singing schools and sang at revivals. As an adult, Boyd enjoyed songwriting, singing and recording gospel music with various groups and at church. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture, caning and weaving, and gardening. 


Boyd’s greatest joy was having all of his family together for big meals cooked by his wife Wilma, and watching his grandchildren excel in academics, band, basketball, and all of their endeavors. 


In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren he is survived by his two brothers, Eddie Raper (Sarah),  Sam Raper (Sue), and niece Crystal Smith (Eric).

Tracy Bryan Turner

Tracy Bryan Turner, 57, was born on July 27, 1963 and passed away on August 18, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tracy spend most of his years working in construction, with the most recent years at Lhoist North America (Franklin Limestone). He enjoyed his racecar and being at the dirt track, farming, and gardening with his tractors, his family and friends, and his grandbabies.

He is survived by his children, Chris Turner, Derrik Turner, and Tonia Turner; sisters, Teresa Stafford and Barbara (Wade) Daffinee; brothers, identical twin, Travis Turner and Rondel (Delores) Turner; grandchildren, Kaidence Turner, Kailianna Turner, Alexis Turner, and Carter Turner; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews; and a dear brother of the heart, Allen (Cindy) Tabor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carson Lloyd Turner and Ellen Norris Turner; sisters, Catha Cross and BJ Masters; grandson, Kaiden Turner; brother-in-law, John Stafford; niece, Tabitha Turner; and grandparents, Paul and Lola (Wells) Turner and Frank (Ell) and Leda (Kilby) Norris.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 6 to 8 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Tracy will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Chesson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Turner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Richards, Gary Turner, Shane Turner, Justin Turner, Caleb Stafford, and Allen Tabor.

Patricia Leah Ellis

Patricia Leah Ellis, 68, of Crossville, TN, passed away in the early morning of August 13, 2020 at her home. She was born July 5, 1952 in Tipton IN, the daughter of Darrel and Peggie (Taylor) Perdue. She married Richard Clay Ellis, of Hoopston IL, and had three daughters. Pat worked as a medical secretary for 15 years and prided herself in the assisted raising of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard (Rick) Ellis and three daughters: Melissa (Matt) Clyde, Amanda (Jeff) Dyer, and Jessica (Russ) Brooks, all of Crossville TN. She is also survived by two sisters: Gail (Ray) Wix of Westmoreland TN, Debbie (Bob) Lange  of Tipton, Indiana; brother Kevin (Vickie) Perdue of Dallas, ORE. Survived also are 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 17 all of Crossville TN. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Darrel and Peggie (Taylor) Perdue of Lafayette TN. 

Cremation rights will be observed. Service will be held at Gateway Baptist Church, 53 Park Lane Spur, Crossville TN on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Visitation will be 1pm-2pm with Memorial service immediately to follow.

Loretta May Colton

Loretta May Colton went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020. She was born August 26, 1928 in Blencoe, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Henry Ernest Meeker and Marie Adeline (Miller) Meeker. She married Al Colton on September 26, 1946, and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage.

Her husband purchased and operated Mr. Al’s Body Shop in Sturgis, South Dakota in 1962, and she was office manager and bookkeeper for many years. When he retired from that business, she went back to school and received her LPN training. She worked at Fort Meade VA Hospital in South Dakota before retiring after 10 years.

She and her husband were active members of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis for 45 years before moving to Crossville, TN in 2011. They then became active members of Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville. She loved the Lord very much and served Him faithfully for many years. She and Al raised their family in a Christian home.

Loretta will be most remembered for her creative and artistic abilities. She was talented in so many areas, including cake decorating, home decor, sewing, and holiday decorating, just to name a few.

Loretta is survived by one daughter, Linda Sue Adams of Sturgis; South Dakota, two sons, Douglas Ray Colton (Barbara) and Jay Dean Colton (Linda), both of Crossville; sister, Delsey Rishel of North Platte, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.

In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Al Colton; one daughter, Shelly (Colton) Faber; seven brothers; four sisters; one grandson; and one great grandson.

Graveside services will be held in Crossville City Cemetery on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating.

Loretta will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
