Lyle Freddie Houston

Lyle Freddie Houston, 70, was born December 9, 1950 in Crossville, Tennessee where he lived until he passed from this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Cumberland Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Fred Evan Houston, Maude Croft Houston, Virgil Patton, Grace Hassler Patton; and parents Charles Noble “Dod” Houston, and Pauline Flora Patton Houston

He was a longtime member of the Daysville church of Christ in Rockwood, Tennessee. His greatest passion was for Christ and the church. He was always ready to serve in whatever role he was needed. He spent much of his time visiting the nursing homes and shut-ins who could no longer make it to services. He always kept up with the needs of his church family and worked hard to care for those needs. He was always in his Bible seeking to know what God would have him to do, and whatever he determined that to be, he did it passionately. Like all the rest of us, he did not do it perfectly, but he did do it with all his being.

He was crazy about his children and grandchildren and left no question of his love for them. He would care for them to his own hurt, and if he had it to do over again, he would not change a thing. He filled their lives with love and laughter. In everything, he sought their good, even if it meant confronting wrongs in their lives. This love did not end with his children and grandchildren though, as he had plenty more for his parents, grandparents, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts too.

Even this was not the boundaries of Lyle Houston’s love though. He never met a stranger, and he was willing to serve anyone, anywhere, and anytime. This way of living endeared him to so many people and allowed him to leave his mark in so many lives. The world is better for having had him in it.

Memorial services for Lyle will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 4:00 with Todd Houston officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 – 4:00.
